LETS GOOOOO! I played this game when I was like 6 and forgot about it for years, but finally figured out the name a few years ago and now have seen pretty much all the YT coverage of it. Glad to see a new vid on it from one of my favorite creators!

I actually bought a copy of Magi Nation for like 15 bucks last year after I saw it on a few underrated GBC games lists and yea I gotta admit its very fun

It'd be cool to see a hack of the GBC version that adds the mechanical improvements of the GBA version.

With imagination, and playing with friend's; tiny moments are able to be special.
Sympathy however is the niche element that creates bonds from stranger's.
    Sincere.
    Merry.
With you in this world it feels like a pulse can bump in my veins
Thanks again, and may your days be given times to rest.

The music was so so so beautiful. The game was so tragic.

I always loved this game. For some reason, I keep it up there with crono trigger and earthbound and links awakening in my head. Simply one of the best 2d games ever imo. The music and graphics alone are unique and great enough to merit that kind of regard.

I liked Dan, the way he emotes in a couple instances is spot on. But yeah, he definitely stood out with his design. The music was definitely a miss. I knew a couple tracks were missing and felt it when they didn't play and got something else instead. The upgrades were good but it would have been nice if EVERYTHING go the same treatment.

With such dark graphics, it must be almost impossible to play it on an actual Gameboy Color.

This is one of those you either love or hate. I tried it back in the day and I couldn't deal with the abundance of text. One of the many tricks Japanese RPG have up their sleeves and poiemon specially is the fact that you can engage woth an NPC to trigger dialog. But in MAGI NATION everyone talks for several minutes and the snail pace of the wording makes the game a burden to play. I'm fine with the text if its a way to skip it but there isn't. The graphics I liked but I has to download the rom and play it on the PC with save states and at blistering speed.

    Interesting.
I wonder, are you going to do Unreal Tournament 3?

Yes, though I'll probably do a video on Unreal 2 first.

I could never touch the GBA port, it just doesn't seem like it would fit. Part of the appeal of Tony is that he's a bit of a casual cool guy. He has some wit, some good sense, and a lot of aimlessness. He's just a stranger in a strange world and nearly everything he touches turns to ash. You don't want some monkey-faced shonen protagonist to whoopsie doodle his way into having a hand in destroying the world.
