- Magi-Nation may have only started out as a card game, but it quickly expanded into a video game for the game boy color that would introduce us to another world. Years later, a show for Magi-Nation would come to be where we get some major and smaller changes from the source material from the card game and video game but tried to capture what other similar franchises at the time had. Let's check out everything Magi-Nation has to offer!

I vaguely remember this show, but I definitely don't remember Djarmander. That sounds so similar to Charmander that it feels like it almost has to be intentional.

What I really love about this show is that the characters actually defeat the villains by being cunning and figure things out.
Jordan, you are filling my Jetix filled soul with happiness. Magi-Nation of course aired on Jetix UK back in 2008, so I love you covering these obscure shows.
Personally, I can't wait for Sonic Prime, the blue blurr is back in the place that treated him most well through the years, Canada!

This was a Kids WB show I believe during it's ending years but I literally never watched the show it looks very Zelda styled.

This was one of my "Saturday Morning Shows" that I always got up to watch as a kid. If there was one moment that stuck out to me after all this time, it was the revelation that a twelfth stone, the Core Stone, existed, and had been in the hands of Agram the entire time.
I still remember the dark stone was the reason the final dreamers father I think (vague memory) was sick the whole time
that's right, his grandpa was sick bc the Core Dreamstone was hidden in a relic back on Earth.
Like the Spider Riders and Huntik theme, the theme for this show got me into it. I remember there was also an online game but I didn't try it so not sure how good it was as I was more so focused on the Spider Riders online game. I was fairly consistent watching with season 1 but around season 2 I stopped seeing it on TV so I dropped it. Would be nice to revisit.
The online spider rider gane was fun and the card system was super easy to follow, I wish I played it more it was fun.
Huntik theme is a banger
Honestly, Magi-Nation feels like the younger sister franchise of Chaotic. It tried and somewhat succeeded in the long run, but not many remember its existence and success. You might want to take a look at the Monsuno series at some point.
Magi-Nation is so nostalgic for me! I remember a few years back there was a channel called The Moonlands that had all the episodes

I remember playing the browser game when I was a kid sooo much and I loved it, but its been such a distant and obscure memory that I could never figure out what it was.
I only remember vague snippets from jetix, And watched all on Megamax years later!
To this day the theme song still pops into my head at random. Honestly one of the most goofy shows I watched as a kid I loved it

Out of all the Pokemon-esque shows that filled the mid-late 2000s, Magi-Nation was one I was always curious about but never got around to watching. Gave it a shot online a few years back and...yeah, it's ok I guess.
Now if you ever decide to do a review on Spider Riders...now THAT was a great show that didn't get nearly enough love.
Omg when I was kid I LOVED this show! I barely remember the characters or plot, but I can instantly recognize all of the creatures hahaha
I started with the vido game first, really enjoyed playing it from beginning to end, even explored to find the hidden areas for the stronger creatures called "Hyrens".
I did get into the TCG, and the game really clicked with me surprisingly, even made a pretty stronge Core deck. Went to my first ever tournament, but no one showed, I was the only competitor, store owner cracked open a starter deck and dueled me a few rounds and gave me a Magi-Nation tournament t-shirt, still have it to this day.
I really do have a fond memory of Magi-Nation. I still have my cards.

Really liked this show, feels like the attempt at being educational is a little out of place or whatever, but I always love seeing shows with magical creatures like this and really enjoyed watching it as a kid

It probably could've been adapted into good movies, given a densely populated world and easy magic system,story And characters!

This show has lived in the back of my head for years. I could never ever find anything online (due to me not fully remembering the name) or even anything irl. Searched hours of recorded Saturday cartoons left in my basement cuz I had such fond memories of this show. As soon as I saw the thumb nail I knew this was that show in my head. Thankyou for giving me peace of this show
As a kid I remember watching this every weekend for years with repeat episodes and never truly saw the ending and i know why now. there was an online game I remember where you can mix and mash a bunch of creature parts, write a description an type even? then you could print out the front and back of the cards to stick them together. also the guitar in the intro was awesome!
I remember watching the show as a kid, I loved how dark the show got, compared to what I was able to watch previously.
I remember a ton of these type of nostalgia cartoons I found on Netflix. This and Kaijudo are the first that come to mind.
It’s nice that you’re recognizing these lost shows. It was a part of my early childhood and it had some aspects that I loved a lot. Plus they had some great voice actors in the show.
I liked this show a lot because I had a similar haircut to Tony as a kid. He looked almost like my cartoon twin. The creatures were also visually amazing! Thank you for covering this series!

My first interaction with the card game was when one of the creators was at my local game store and i watched them play the game and i was given a deck and he showed me how to play the game. He went over the lore and pulled me into the game. I was hooked after that.
Thanks, this was the pokemon clone that's been living rent free in my head since 2007 that I haven't been able to properly remember anything defining details to find more information on to finally give me closure so I can finally forget about it.
I do remember this show, it was definitely one of the most interesting that I watched, and it really got me into wanting to learn more about this fantasy world.

FINALLY! FINALLY! I FOUND IT! Man, I have spent so long looking for this show. Years ago I was asked what cartoon I had really enjoyed. Taken by surprise I told them about this fun show where magical monsters were captured in stones and used to battle others in a fantasy type world. They asked me what it was called but I couldn't remember. That bugged me so later I looked for it online and I couldn't find it. At least 8 years pass and my memories of the show gets hazier and hazier before finally I see this video! Thank you so much for answering the question I've had for so long! Heck now that I see it again I even remember playing the online game for a short while. Damn its such a rush to get an answer to something that has bugged me for so long.
This show gives me SO MUCH NOSTALGIA even though I never actually watched it while it was airing and only watched it on TH-cam years later after seeing an ad for it in the previews of a Sonic cartoon DVD.

I never knew about the game cards & video games when I first saw this series.
I saw it on tv as a kid, and what drew me to it was not only have creature companions by your side, but the anime art style.
But it's pretty neat to learn more about it.
I do remember this, the show was cool. Admittedly, I only watch the first few episodes.

Oh my god oh my god oh my god????? I used to get up super early on Saturdays to watch this on the CW! Every Saturday from like 6-7am they would show cartoons like Sonic X, this show, and Cubix. I adored that time, and I’m so happy someone has brought this show to peoples’ attention.
I still remember the Blockbuster Promo with the Gameboy game, where they had starter sets and booster packs. Once the promo was over, so was Magi-Nation for younger me, as my hobbist shops never heard of it, and never carried, or ever thought to order the cards when I kept asking if they carried them. Which sucked cause their web site featured all the cards, further sets, and stuff I could never get as a kid. Seeing this cartoon is so weird, as the Gameboy Color and early card sets will always be what I imaigne when I hear Magi-Nation.
Video got brought to my attention due to the existing Magi-Nation community. Still have my card collection and a dozen or so decks put together, as well as the video game stuff. Very nostalgic series!

I was the only person I know of who ever watched this in the UK this and Digimon Data Squad was my childhood but literally 0 people I've ever spoken to have watched this show, so it's great to see a youtube video on this show!
Omg i totally forgot about Magi-Nation! I used to watch it on my old Nabi tablet as a kid all the time along with other niche shows like Spider Riders for example- I ligit loved it so much and made ocs and fanart in my notebooks constantly(I also had like the hugest crush on Strag lmao) - I dont know how i forgot it but thank you so much for reminding me of it!

My 2 strongest memorys of this show are 1. The wooden staff and bowl being legendary items that could, if I remember correctly, create any magical artifact ever.
And 2. The mountain that was the oldest actually being the smallest in the entire range.

I actually still have cards from this game. It was easily one of my favorite card games of all time and I've spent years trying to get my friends to play it on TableTop Simulator with me.
I couldn't get into the show with how jarringly different the art was from the card game. The art in the game is fantastic

I did not know there was a card game, but I remember enjoying the video game and animated show a lot. It has a lot of nostalgic value for me.
I remember getting home from school and playing Battle for the Moonlands and grinding to collect the shards! Such a great show from my childhood a real blast from the past. Keep up the great work! Not sure if it has been done but a video on Kaijudo would be amazing.

I still have my original Gameboy Color game copy. I had the cards all because I grandma bought it for me for christmas assuming it was pokemon. So, I always felt like throwing it out would be like throwing out the love of my grandma so I kept it. OMG i love Magi-Nation and thank you for making this incredible video.

I'd love to see you cover Spider Riders! I used to watch the show growing up and it had an mmorpg that I believe was done by the same people to developed Magi-Nation's mmo. I feel like no one talks about that show but I really enjoyed it as a kid
I never watched Magi-Nation, but I have a Super Mario Bros. Super Show DVD which also had TV show previews, and one of them had the Magi-Nation intro/opening in one of them. Really brings back memories
I grew up with Magi-Nation as a kid as my dad liked to pirate weird kids shows, and I still love it to this day. I never read how to play the card game, but I got a single card pack when I was a kid and have kept it as a "card collection" ever since. I loved that show, and would probably be exited if I could get more cards even today, as a collection item or something

Also I thought I'd give a suggestion for one of these, Kaijudo: Rise of the Duel Masters. It's one of those series that got a card game and a tv show. You obviously don't have to do it but maybe you'll want to check it out.
omg what a throwback!! Growing up watching it on CBC, I thought I was the only one who watched it growing up. The concept of it least when I saw first saw it seemed interesting enough
I remember watching a few episodes as a kid and think that it looked awesome! Unfortunately, it didn't air that often, so I never got to see all of it. I might actually look into this series and see if I can find all the episodes so I can rewatch the series.

Man this takes me back.. me and my siblings used to watch this on saterday mornings, we even had a trampoline game that was an amalgematuion of Magi-Nation and Yu-Gi-Oh where we basically just bounced around pretending to be monsters and fought eachother. Thoes were the good old days..
I don't know why, but whenever I think of this show...I inevitably also think of Spider Riders... I have arachnophobia, and yet LOVED Spider Riders...SOMEHOW

My god I've been trying to think of this damn show for over a decade. I saw it when I was like 6 and found it enjoyable. Its name was forever lost to me and here it is, in my TH-cam feed
We didn't have any of the cards ourself; but we knew someone who did.
And while we don't remember much, there was one quote on one of the cards that we remember;
"If I'm not around to learn from my mistakes, someone else will be."
