Would be nice if there was an alternate back panel that's a little deeper and includes exhaust fans. It's relying entirely on positive air pressure to push out the heat, but that guarantees bubbles forming behind the top and glass panel.
Man, whoever is working on NZXT’s design team is kicking ass. I’ve had cases from them since the Guardian 2, and recently built my new PC in an H500. The quality has come a long way in roughly a decade, but the cases are still looking great.
Love your style Jay. Really appreciate Phil and friend editing your stuff to include all the goofy-ness and tongue twisted words. Great stuff. This case - very cool, although the phone booth look (anybody remember those?) will take some getting used to. The engineering is fairly well thought out and I love the drop down door for the AIO. Must agree with a few others about some sort of exhaust fan system but otherwise nice little case.
What this case (and many others) makes me think is that we need a new Mini-ITX+ form factor, it would be just like a standard mini-ITX except the PCI slot would be an edge connector (not a slot) and on the opposite side of the motherboard. That would allow an install like this to use a short (and solid) PCI Riser card.
Hey Jay, Great video!!!, nice case, but but buuuuuut... I'll make some changes: 1- NO Glass panel, I'll use a mesh front panel as the other sides for better ventilation 2- The AIO change to a 280mm instead of a 140mm, that means the case could be a bit bigger (150mm taller) 3- 20mm more to the top making space for a 120mm fan bellow the top with a mesh finish for getting out the hot air 4- One more USB 3 at the top panel Hope NZXT will consider to make a taller H1 with some of my suggested changes, maybe a H2, I hope, I dream....
Finally a decent small size case! I bought the Silverstone Fortress FT03 in 2018 and was impressed at first, but nowadays I think I didn't win that much with the case - in comparison to the H1 it is huge! The Fortress has the advantage of the bottom-to-top cooling line, but I don't think that it's that big of a deal. I hope the H1 inspires more case-builders and there are more options for these kinds of cases in the future!
0:29 "Moore's law has started to tapering off, what we have started to be able to do is to take the amount of technology and the speed and the power and just shrink it" What are you trying to say here? It sounds like the opposite effect of Moore's law tapering off.
I wonder how the thermals would improve if you took the perforated side panel from the empty case and put it in place of the tempered glass panel on the built PC that NZXT sent. If it fits of course, but it looks like it would.
As great as having a horizontal case is, NZXT seems to have optimized the case in every direction (except the top, as mentioned about heat travelling up) even downwards with a small base footprint while all the cables are running out from the bottom and to the back from the motherboard I/O. Definitely in support for vertical for the H1
@JayzTwoCents please do a GPU fitting list for this case i would realy like to know what GPUS fit i would like to do a 2080ti build in this but not all GPU manufacturers have size specs of there GPU'S so yea just do a fitting list of GPU to see what the fattest one's can fit.
Jay can you please check how thick the 2.5-inch drives can be installed because I really need to know if I can get 2 8TB 2.5 inch drives of storage for content creation so I don't have to work with NAS for the time being. People seem to be disappointed with the price ... though you have to think about this: The PSU costs 125 $, The 140mm AIO costs around 100 $, so that leaves the case for about 125 $. For such a thought out the case, I'm thinking this case is very well priced (and think of the PSU cable management benefit for having shorter cables). But of course, since this is all bundled it can feel expensive as a one-time expenditure. This will absolutely be my next PC build even though I don't know when I will make it yet (still thinking of waiting for AMD's AM5 socket and DDR5 for some sweet 128GB mini ITX build, yes I do use that much RAM easily and 16GB on my laptop is so painful right now).
I really like cases that better utilize their footprint space like this, it's actually really cool to see. I'm just waiting for a case with this design concept in mind, but for E-ATX/SSI-EEB and 480mm radiators lol
Wish they would sell this case alone with the PCI riser cable and without the PSU and all its cables. Currently use the Sliger SM580 because I love small PC cases!
Lovely PC case, I myself own a Thermaltake Core V21. The main problem it has and that no one mentions is poor HDDs cooling. No one ever says anything about this, but it is very important when to try to fit a WD Black and 2 more HDDs there when you don't have any fans specifically for the HDDs. I had to take 1 HDD off, rock only with the WD Black and another on top bottom and then install very small fans on the grill behind the HDDs to cool it down because I was getting temps of +50ºC on the HDDs, not good! So for small cases like these, you either do some custom solution, get only one HDD and not a WD Black (don't go for higher RPM drives, more heat), or go for multiple SSDs if you have the money. It sucks that to this point, manufacturers have yet to realize these kinds of cases benefit from having even a small fan near the HDD bay!
I have a traditional NZXT but would consider moving to this sleeker design, as my unit is in the main living room and this would fit in much better, keep up the good work.
Today I bought a new CPU cooler, the Be Quiet! Pure Rock. When I removed my previous heatsink I saw that I put on way too little thermal paste last time... I still have much to learn, Master Jay 😔
I've been there and done that, I switched to the spread method once I bought the thermal grizzly kryonaut. It comes with a little plastic spatula and even der8baur and Steve form gamers nexus have spoke about spreading. You don't get air bubbles and I shaved off 2-3 Celsius once switching from the pea method, I did also switch paste but I noticed the corners on my CPU not covered by paste too. Just my two cents lol..
Your old one didn't over heat abnormally right outta the gate? Didn't burn out the cpu, nor the socket on the motherboard, long term? If yes to both, you used the perfect amount. Period.
@@conandude76 burn out your cpu or motherboard? That's not how modern PC's work. If there wasn't enough paste, it will run hotter, simple as that. If it overheats, it throttles or shuts down. The motherboard has nothing to do with the lack of cooling on a CPU.
@@Ravenousjoe Too much can cause burn out, if it squeezes out over the diodes around the socket when you clamp down the cooler, it WILL burn out the socket, and possibly the cpu. Has been the case since 386 days, and has not changed. Jay and GN both have vids about this SPECIFIC thing, pointing that very thing out, if a guy building computers for over 25 years (much longer than either of them) isn't good enough for you, then go rewatch their vids about thermal paste and cpu installation. Especially the ones where they purposefully put too much on and burn out a 300 dollar mobo...
I just went and bought one of these. It's actually a pretty good deal. You'll get a very good looking mini-ITX case, proper power supply, AIO liquid cooler, and proper riser card for the GPU. Even surprised I found someone selling it for the right price in my country among some who have marked up it to the point it doesn't make any sense.
I've got a mid tower corsair tempered glass with RGB. I don't even light the RGB anymore and the case weighs 50lbs and I do a lot of traveling for work. I really want a small form factor build now and this case has to be the best I've seen so far. I wish they have a 750w version for the 3080 (assuming it fits)

Jay, please do a full custom loop build with this chassis, with the GPU and CPU watercooled. Really interested in if you can add another radiator somewhere as well, and maybe a flat reservoir side by side with the GPU potentially or a smaller reservoir around top or bottom. Debating if you can get this to be nearly silent while under load, but also maintaining low to moderate GPU and CPU temps.
Personally I think the best advantage of using a vertical ITX case is when the rear panel is moved to the top. You get access to all of them USB ports while here you have to pick up the case to get to them. No doubt that the cables coming out of the bottom is way cleaner.
It doesn't at all. I have 3 monitors, a thick keyboard cable (it has USB & audio passthrough), a mouse cable, headset cable, charging cable, power cable, CAT5e cable all coming out the back on the bottom and there are zero issues.
@ How do you deal with the ports being on the bottom? I'm totally behind this case besides this issue - I'm thinking about turning it upside down lol, that access would be nice
I like the idea of this case, but I feel they could easily add another 2 inches to the top, and add in a 120/140mm fan to help with exhaust. It wouldn't need to be powerful as that might change it from positive airflow, to negative, but something is better than nothing. Do this Mod Jay?
I wish they would revamp this case with a 750 watt psu, and then also find a way to put an exhaust fan in as well. They could make the case slightly smaller and use a top exhaust fan, or slightly deeper and put two exhaust fans into he back and make thermals so much better.
Would like to see a thermal test for the AZZA Pyramid 804. Putting together a parts list when I came across it. I love the look of it but cant find any tests with it.
Imagine how crappy the SexBoxSeriesSex will be when this case is about 3/4 of the price its supposed to cost.... No airflow from sides and people will put it on the floor so it will SUCC all the dust in and when it is not in use the dust lands on it... :p~~
Is that too bad though? concidering it comes with a 650w psu and a 140mm rad watercooler? And also seem well thought out in terms of layout and solutions. some R&D went in to this case specifically . its not too ridicculous. Seem neat, clean, smart and tidy. Id say its worth it if it tickles your fancy for a case like this. Id be all over this if I were to build a new ryzen rig. but Im holding out with my Massive chonk of a CM trooper case, first gen threadripper and 1070 for at least a year or perhaps two. new consoles coming out soon, they seem pretty impressive to me and a new baseline will be set. not a good time to uppgrade unless you have deep pockets and dont really care I guess, or you are just building a computer mostly for everyday use and want it to look sleek af or just get an ITX mobo and move your current setup into this if possible. Aint for me with my threadripper as that waterblock wont cover the entire cpu and do it any justice. By 2021/2022 Im sure this case will be a tad cheaper too and maybe gets an updated and alternate versions too even similar cases from other manufacturers. expensive or not, I like it. this little case is sleek. Would be nice if there was an alternate back panel that's a little deeper and includes exhaust fans. It's relying entirely on positive air pressure to push out the heat, but that guarantees bubbles forming behind the top and glass panel.
Perfect i was looking for a mini ATX case !

Well it's riser+case+psu+aio so it kinda makes sense.
psu + cooler + riser cable + case = 350 sooo

case=120

Man, whoever is working on NZXT’s design team is kicking ass. I’ve had cases from them since the Guardian 2, and recently built my new PC in an H500. The quality has come a long way in roughly a decade, but the cases are still looking great.
"H1"
That direct competition for corsair one clearly.
Shame they didn't adopt same idea of one big fan on the top.
The H1 has better position of the AIO, the EVOLV SHIFT 2 is similar but has the fan at the top - just like corsair.
2:11 Honestly one of the best peels ever recorded on video
Good lord I'm 6 minutes into the video and I'm still just thinking about that great glass peel. Haha
You're not alone
Love your style Jay. Really appreciate Phil and friend editing your stuff to include all the goofy-ness and tongue twisted words. Great stuff. This case - very cool, although the phone booth look (anybody remember those?) will take some getting used to. The engineering is fairly well thought out and I love the drop down door for the AIO. Must agree with a few others about some sort of exhaust fan system but otherwise nice little case.
It reminds me the xbox series X, just for the shape.

I'll make some changes:
1- NO Glass panel, I'll use a mesh front panel as the other sides for better ventilation
2- The AIO change to a 280mm instead of a 140mm, that means the case could be a bit bigger (150mm taller)
3- 20mm more to the top making space for a 120mm fan bellow the top with a mesh finish for getting out the hot air
4- One more USB 3 at the top panel
Hope NZXT will consider to make a taller H1 with some of my suggested changes, maybe a H2, I hope, I dream....

Yeah, isn't that basically what moore's law is.

0:35 I WAS IN THE POOL!!!
I really like cases that better utilize their footprint space like this, it's actually really cool to see. I'm just waiting for a case with this design concept in mind, but for E-ATX/SSI-EEB and 480mm radiators lol
I loved this, it will look amazing in my living room, it can be a nice media center, specially for tiny home gamers :D
I wish it had handles & exhaust fans.
Perfect timing. I was just checking small cases out a while ago.
Wish they would sell this case alone with the PCI riser cable and without the PSU and all its cables. Currently use the Sliger SM580 because I love small PC cases!
Jeez that peel... I was like "Ohhh yeaaaah!" when that sound started, and my missus was getting jealous. lol
Jay: We've seen the smallerfying then biggerfying then the re-smallerfying and then the middlerfying and then back to smallerfying again
@@conandude76 cool, except the fact that we are talking about too little paste here.

Even surprised I found someone selling it for the right price in my country among some who have marked up it to the point it doesn't make any sense.

“It’s completely toolless”. Looking at that price, I don’t think so Jay.
to be fair, that includes a 650 watt psu and a 140mm aio, which would prob be ~ $100-120 each, so the case after those is ~$110-150

It's Settled: Apple was 20 years ahead when they made the G4 Cube.
You mean Dieter Rams in the 1950s.
Personally I think the best advantage of using a vertical ITX case is when the rear panel is moved to the top. You get access to all of them USB ports while here you have to pick up the case to get to them. No doubt that the cables coming out of the bottom is way cleaner.
Now, watercool that card and fit another radiator in there ;)
Nice case, looks like it's easier to set up than the Phanteks Evolv Shift, but also much less flexible in what you can do with it.

I will admit: the peel never excites me. It's just a step in the process to me. A slightly annoying one at that.
I wish they would revamp this case with a 750 watt psu, and then also find a way to put an exhaust fan in as well. They could make the case slightly smaller and use a top exhaust fan, or slightly deeper and put two exhaust fans into he back and make thermals so much better.

Aint for me with my threadripper as that waterblock wont cover the entire cpu and do it any justice.
