This was MIMED.
So sorry to disappoint, but the guitar transmitter/receiver didn't work over that distance. My friend (rip) was the sound engineer. Takes nothing away from the spectacular performance. ✌🇬🇧

@@romelnegut2005...interpret it as you wish, but unfortunately the guitar transmitter/reciever didn't work at that distance. Had they been able to run cables that distance to the roof it may have worked.
Interesting. I just read Mr. May's account of this performance in his book about The Red Special (that's how I ended up here) and he claims that while it was very uncertain up until the last minute, they were able to pull everything together for a proper live performance.
I'm not saying you or your friend are wrong, by the way. I wasn't there and honestly didn't know this existed until 25 minutes ago.
@@westside1912 .... I certainly wouldn't like to say anything contradictory to B.May, but the orchestral backing was a recording......yes? No orchestra present.
In these circumstances there was definitely the guitar recorded too for back up purposes. I have done sound engineering for major artists where there was a vocal back up recording for every song that could be used in an instant if their voice was flailing, old age usually..... I can't say who obviously.
My friend was the sound engineer for Queen, Paul McCartney and the Eurythmics, he certainly had a good working day and I have no reason to disbelieve him.👍✌🇬🇧
