The DAAS were brilliant! You never knew what you would get. Some of their skits were some of the most bizarre, violent and unhinged comedy I've ever seen! Oooh spit those rhymes 😜
These guys were huge! All have gone on to highly successful careers in television and radio. Sadly Tim has MS, but advocates for those afflicted. Australia punches way above its weight with highly intelligent, thoughtful comedians; think Shaun Micallef and Tim Minchin. You already know Garry McDonald.
OMG. I have not seen DAAS in years, i downloaded the show a few years ago for an older friend and watched it all. DAAS Capital seasons 1 and 2 I had. Great stuff.
oh you like hip hop, Hilltop Hoods is an Australian hip hop group that formed in 1996. They are regarded as pioneers of the "larrikin-like" style of Australian hip hop. they have many good tracks like Cosby sweater, nosebleed section etc
This is a wild clip to be your first experience of the Doug Anthony Allstars. Try their version of 'Heard It Through The Grapevine' if you want to hear their voices and harmonies better.
There is a quirky if not interesting story of how or why the Doug Anthony All Stars decided on their group name. Doug Anthony was the Deputy Prime Minister of Australia for quite a few years. He was also the leader of the National Party, also known as the Country Party that formed government as a minor Coalition partner with the Liberal National or Liberal Country party for many years. Doug Anthony was a member of a prominent grazing or pastoral family going back many generations and was seen mostly as a fairly quiet, generally non-threatening, old fashioned conservative politician, definitely not a character model on which the stage presence of the DAAS could be said to be based on. There was also another fairly well-known and young teenage Australian pop musical group called the Whitlams. Their group name was derived from a former Australian Labor Prime Minister's name, Gough Whitlam, who was a rather large and elderly man when Labor finally achieved the government benches after decades of unbroken conservative Liberal Country Party government
This is probably one of their least provocative/aggressive comedy performances. For their best musical performances, check out their version of the Aussie classic Throw Your Arms Around Me; or Heard It Through the Grapevine
That was so eighties, not into the aggression, but the harmonies were good! Hopefully you receive some more current and entertaining requests soon. Floating! ☺️👍

I love that performance.
Yep, I saw this guys when they were busking in Canberra....
Wait till you come across Flacco, he was off the wall comedy.
Flacco wasn't anywhere near the wall. He was more off the planet.
Falacco was the coolest
I used to love to watch the Big Gig every week when it was on back then. 😎

I used to watch them all the time.. Very very funny off the cuff comedy, totally Aussie!!! Paul still is funny as...
My favourite DAAS song was "Hari Krishna Riding Shotgun on the Stagecoach of my Life"
Check out their version of Stairway to Heaven from the show - The Money or the gun!👍😁
Unfortunately, Tim Ferguson (on the left) was diagnosed with MS when in his early thirties and is now wheelchair bound. This clip is pretty old.
There is a wonderful ABC doc about taking him to The Edinburgh Festival in his wheelchair
This is probably one of their least provocative/aggressive comedy performances.

I have their CD Dead & Alive, great origibal songs, very controversial lyrics.
