As with many great voices, they overlaid their own tracks. Harry Nilsson was another amazing voice who overdubbed. You want to hear Angelic, listen to "Without You". brings goosebumps! Nilsson's vocal range was amazing.
Tragically, just after making his comeback album "Midnight Love", recorded after drug problems, Marvin was shot dead by his father, a minister, on April 1st 1984, the day before his 45th birthday.
This song is great but my favorite is still "What's Going On". "Sexual Healing" is also another hit he had. Marvin was taken too soon. He died at 44 after his father shot him twice during an altercation.
On April Fool's Day, Marvin is shot and killed by his father. KDAY the radio station confirmed his death. I have never forgotten this day. Location Arlington off Washington in LA. at the family home, which is now a museum.
Marvin Gaye is not slept on Marvin Gaye's album what's going on is voted number one as the greatest album of all time Marvin Gaye he's probably the greatest r&b soul artists of all time you're probably not a soul r&b fan so you don't know much about him he's a legend Ed Sheraton knows who he is
As others have said all the voices are Marvin. In the '70s to his death Marvin pushed the boundaries of audio dubbing and looping. I daresay if Marvin was in his prime in this day and age he'd be using all the tools at his disposal though I doubt he'd touch autotune. He might use it to clean up some imperfections but that's it. He was known as the Prince of Motown and then posthumously the Prince of Soul. "Let's Get It On" is one of his signature songs. As for the lawsuit, yeah, that was a bit much. His family/estate is very protective of his legacy and will get on you like a pit bull. I will say they were correct to go after Robin Thicke/Pharrell with "blurred lines" as that was definitely a rip off of "Got to Give It Up". Marvin had a very wide vocal range from being silky smooth to having a ton of grit to it and he knew how to blend his tones in his music very well. He was more of a mid-tempo singer but could speed it up from time to time. His style was very heavily influenced by jazz and doo wop styled music but he dabbled in some funk and his last work was influenced by reggae, new wave and synth pop. Even his last recordings ("sanctified lady" and "masochistic beauty") were in tune with the musical landscape at the time even though his voice had become a bit deteriorated and rougher due to drugs & extreme paranoia. Sadly Marvin was taken from us on April 1st 1984 as he was shot and killed by his father after an argument. Many people today view it as a suicide by proxy. (sorry for the long comment)
I always thought this song was about sex. In reality, it's about overcoming addiction and getting on "with the business of life". And isn't it sad that Marvin's own dad shot and killed him in 1984 because of an argument.
Oh, and as the case with most Marvin Gaye's songs, all the voices are him.
That's Marvin doing all the voices he was known as the Prince of Motown
As with many great voices, they overlaid their own tracks.
Harry Nilsson was another amazing voice who overdubbed. You want to hear Angelic, listen to "Without You". brings goosebumps! Nilsson's vocal range was amazing.
I've always loved Marvin Gaye. He had a great voice.
The best!
Recommend "What's Goin' On" first, the "Heard It Through the Grapevine" next. After that: Mercy Mercy Me, and Sexual Healing.
Marvin is singing. And his back up does the rest. He’s the only lead singer.
Marvin is SANGING!
Marvin sing all the backup vocals. There is only one person singing.
Love to see your reacto to this awesome R&B singer. You can react to anything he does!!
The level of joy on his face says it all...

Talented, smart, handsome. Im a Detrioter and we had nothing but the best. Smokey Bill Robinson 90 years old. Our classic, classic
Detroiter too! Smokey is my all time fav.
Marvin was known for stacking his vocals to create harmonies of his own voice.
On April Fool's Day, Marvin is shot and killed by his father. KDAY the radio station confirmed his death. I have never forgotten this day. Location Arlington off Washington in LA. at the family home, which is now a museum.
Pure soul! ❤
It’s only one man singing and that’s Marvin
One guy, my dude. One voice.
I was grooving right along with you! Marvin is a genius. He was shot and killed by his father and his father was a preacher😱
You should tell the whole story. Marvin was hopped up on drugs demanding money to buy more. He was physical.
I’ve never heard anyone ask that question about who is singing lead 😀
My fav song by Marvin is “Inner City Blues” 💔💔. It’s a very sad, emotional song ✌️✌️✌️
Got to Give It Up is a party starter for the ages!!!
RIP Marvin ❤❤
I WANT YOU ... of all Marvin's classics, including "What's Goin' On", IMO it's his best song.
1:14 - FUTURE GIF ALERT!
If this song can't get you a little "something/something"..... You're with the wrong person. Great song. Oh, and it's just Marvin singing.

This is a very good choice for an intimate moment, another good pick would be "Serge Gainsbourg & Jane Birkin - Je t'aime... moi non plus"

I say "What's crackalackin" 😂😂😂 My kids laugh at me 😂
Especially during the origins of rock and roll everybody was influencing everybody
marvin gaye doubled his vocals. he sang both part separate and put them together.
It's all Marvin
A Motown Icon, I hear it through the Grapevine and Sexual Healing are also classic songs by Marvin Gaye.
You must check out Mercy Mercy Me (The Ecology). It was I believe his very best.
Love this song lots! Didn't know anything about Ed suit?

I always thought this song was about sex. In reality, it's about overcoming addiction and getting on "with the business of life". And isn't it sad that Marvin's own dad shot and killed him in 1984 because of an argument.
No, it's about sex. Let your love come down, if you believe in love let's get it on.
You need to also listen to What's Going On" and Sexual Healing. So sad we lost him too soon RIP Marvin
Michael react to Keep Getting It On
Have you done any reactions to Paul Carrack? I like “Don’t Shed A Tear”.
All the voices are his
His best song was Sexual Healing.
God u funny
Baby making music
No he's long gone. His daddy actually shot and killed him
May wanna check out Sexual Healing
They always steal his music. I guess if they fined Ed Sheeran, no one would have any music today.
HIs father's shot and killed him
