It was basically a funk song with Tim's rap included on the track. Pretty solid song for the time. But this is obviously the most famous from 1979. Grandmaster Flash did one the same year called "Superrappin'" and radio DJ Lady B was purportedly the first female rapper to have a single released, with "To The Beat, Y'All." But Rapper's Delight was perhaps the first instance of jackin' tunes in rap history. The music is basically the break from Chic's "Good Times." I love SHG, but a lot of their songs are basically raps over top of tunes that they jacked from someone else.
