Actually the first rap song is from 1946 by the Jubalaires it's called "Noah" Rap didn't catch on back then so it didn't became mainstream until the early 80s.

We used to have songs like this all the time, unfortunately the later gen missed it. It was a blast!🎉

So can you tell me the actual god damn genre of Gang Starr? Something a lot more useful then "East Coast"? Because apparently all "automatic genre identifiers" are fake and the subreddits that claim to he used specifically for identifying genres, get mad if you actually ask for a genre.

The first Top 40 rap single, but not the first rap single ever released or recorded. That would be Personality Jock by Fatback Band featuring Kim Tim III, who was a radio DJ and rapper. It was basically a funk song with Tim's rap included on the track. Pretty solid song for the time. But this is obviously the most famous from 1979. Grandmaster Flash did one the same year called "Superrappin'" and radio DJ Lady B was purportedly the first female rapper to have a single released, with "To The Beat, Y'All." But Rapper's Delight was perhaps the first instance of jackin' tunes in rap history. The music is basically the break from Chic's "Good Times." I love SHG, but a lot of their songs are basically raps over top of tunes that they jacked from someone else.

Actually the very first rap song is "Noah" by the Jubalaires from 1946. Rap didn't catch on back then, and it became mainstream in the 80s.

I remember when this came out. It was the year I finished boot camp and started my military career in San Diego. Loved it then and I love it now. BTW I love your reactions Mr. Duffy. The original music is from a song called Goodtimes by CHIC.

How the hell does a dude just randomly hear a short clip and say "I should try this song with a reaction", and then pick the actual Soul Train video, without ever saying and allegedly without knowing that it is the first commercial rap song of all time?
