I wish they would stop with the Naked series and do more with the Vise palettes or make smaller sized interesting palettes. I think they are naming everything ‘Naked’ so that those with collector mentality would keep buying them. But it’s getting more and more ridiculous to be honest

FTC MUA. I think they use the name 'Naked' because the word is associated with purity , and unadulterated things . It would give the impression( even subconsiously) that the make up is organic, without harsh chemicals and additives .
Cherry Metha the thing with Urban Decay is they have never been about any of those things. Their thing has always been about pushing the boundaries and edgy makeup. With a bit sex, drugs, and ‘urban decay’ thrown in. The Naked series started as naked as in nude tones as in Virgin, Sin, Buck, etc. But with the tones that were popular then. Then came Naked 2 and 3 to introduce the concept in the tones that were popular at that point. Then the Naked basics and Naked Smokey were to round it out. But since then it’s just been an attempt to keep the series going. With Naked Heat and Naked Honey it sort of makes sense, as those are the neutrals of today, and they work well on lighter and deeper skin tones. But Naked Cherry and Ultraviolet are a bit of a stretch, especially Ultraviolet. The Cherry might fit since these tones have been the ‘new neutrals’. But the Ultraviolet color story would have worked better as its own separate collection, but sadly their other palettes are not selling as well. And that’s yet another story why.
Urban Decay just don't feel like they're starting trends anymore. Naked 2 was so iconic and they stopped it!
I've been a UD customer since the time all they had was nail polish. When L'Oreal bought them in 2012 I found the brand really started lose the edge and what made them so unique. The quality of products started to suffer too.
Totally agree, they have lost some quality and definitely don't have a fresh or exciting feel to their products anymore
@@pir8lifeforme yes! I used to be obsessed with the subway coin single shadows in the late 90's. The quality has definitely gone downhill. I wound up giving my naked heat palette to my mom. Their eye primers are meh. Still oily using all nighter foundation. Glad I'm not the only one!
@@hazeleyes8178 I'm still fuming over the discontinued curling mascara. That was the best! I was excited they brought back some original shades, asphyxia was my go to in polish, lipstick and eyeshadow, but they were not the same amazing quality. Now it seems like they try something then discontinue or reformulate it fairly quick, especially ones they actually did great with. Original primer potion was excellent, they messed it up when reformulated.
I know they’re not starting trends anymore but their last three palettes really did it for me. I always get compliments on my eye look when I use them, especially Naked Heat. It’s perfect for South East Asian skin tone.
I’ve totally fallen off the UD naked train. They’ve been so underwhelming 🤐 but watching because I luuurve Robert. 💜

Same here! Last naked I bought was the naked cherry and I think that is when I realized I just don’t like those palettes much. I was tempted to buy reloaded and honey but I have to keep reminding myself that I already have similar things in my collection that I like more.
I used to ADORE UD. Nowadays... meh. The quality isn't as good as I used to think. The last palette I bought from them was their Game of Thrones one. I used it once, didn't care for it, now its just a collector's piece for my bookshelf

Yeah I used to love them, I have a dupe or Naked 2 for everyday looks and Naked Heat was the first ‘high end’ palette I ever bought. It hasn’t aged too well for me though sadly ):

I do like the color scheme, but was a little disappointed with the pigmentation...looks more muted on the eyes
They really changed the formula. I bought the cherry one last and it was nowhere near the old ones :( it was chalky and dull like Kylie make up

I love muted eyeshadows since I’m heavy handed. I’d rather build.
Purples always disappoints me. It breaks my heart cuz I love them. I don't want pinky purples. I want deep blue-y indigo purples. 😭
Urban Decay is OG ride or die for me. One of the first “luxury” brands I used and very sentimental for me. This one is already in the mail for me. As always, you did a great look and I will use your work here to test this for myself. Thank You :)

The quality in Urban Decay seems to gone downhill ever since they were bought by L'oreal. It's just an ok makeup line now - totally removed from their Gen X founding and vision.

I would listen to an audiobook of just about anything if Robert was reading it....but they would have to leave his giggles IN the audio recordings.....
100% would buy and listen.
They did a podcast episode dedicated to the history of makeup it was so fascinating and scary to find out what was once used in makeup. Robert explains it extensively

When I first seen the pallet I wasn’t that impressed cause there was loads of neutral tones, then Robert creates an awesome cosmic unicorn look 💜💜💜 such amazing talent

I've always loved Urban Decay. It's not to many mid range to high end brands that put their items on sale. I feel like I get alot for my money but know it's still good quality.

I'm so over warm neutral palettes with a few token purple shades thrown in. My heart sank when I saw the first half of the palette. I'm fine with the mint color being thrown in - but if they were going to include "neutral" shadows they should've been either cool neutrals (or greyscale) or true neutrals. Roberts' look is stunning (hats off!) - but it's not an everyday look that I would be able to re-create (or young enough to pull off). Take care everyone and stay safe!

Ooooooooooo! I think this is my favorite "purple" look on you yet. Purple always looks so amazing with brown eyes. It's a hard color for me to wear with my blue eyes, but it absolutely pops on gorgeous brown eyes!

I feel that they’ve gone from being super edgy to everyone can figure out how to wear their palette. Seems to have happened when loreal took over. The wearability is great for average consumer, not really the enthusiasts some are. And I know it’s a total cash grab to have a more approachable palette that you can build up and not be super pigmented and intimidating to some. But I have all of the large naked palettes and most of the smaller ones and they’re just so easy to make a look out of and being buildable is nice to prevent mistakes when you actually need to get out of the house on time
