I think you’ve neglected one very important part of the Disney Princess franchise. The music! Every single Disney Princess movie has been a musical with the exception of Brave, but there was still a song in the movie and I always interpreted it as it being Merida thinking those lyrics. Most of the snubbed Disney princesses have their own songs (Meg, Esmeralda, Nala, Giselle, Anna & Elsa). They make it out to be a pretty big deal in Ralph Breaks the Internet, with all the others saying that Vanelloppe is a princess but she needs to sing. And they also definitely see Merida as an outcast, maybe because she doesn’t actually sing. Obviously you see where I’m going with this. Raya doesn’t sing, nor does any other person in her movie. There isn’t even a song with lyrics there to pretend that she’s singing. Singing just feels like such an integral part of being a disney princess, like you can’t market them as a princess if they don’t have their own theme song. Raya just altogether has a different vibe than the disney princess movies. It puts more focus on world building and history and culture than any of the other ones do and have more of a variety of characters all with their own stories. It feels a bit similar to Frozen 2, which also focused on expanding the world and explaining more of the magic that exists there. And Frozen 2, unlike the first one, wasn’t made to be a Disney princess movie, it was meant to be part of a bigger franchise.
Omg the nostalgia... I stopped watching this channel over a year ago because i lost interest in the topics they cover but I just came across the channel again and omg
Having her join the lineup would definitely be awesome. _But_ the only way for that to happen would be for her movie to be dying and I don't want that... You didn't really go into the reason why the Disney princess lineup exists. The reason is to keep those specific characters relevant and popular throughout the decades, so that Disney can keep earning money on merchandise. Disney puts female characters (that fit the requirements) into the lineup when they start selling less merch after the release of their movie. That's why they put Moana into the lineup, she was starting to become irrelevant and the Disney princesses will keep her from being forgotten. I don't want Raya's franchise to die because I feel like there's so many stories left you could tell of her. Her movie is unlike all the Disney princess movies in that they've created an entire new fictional world for her. All the previous movies have had magic and fantasy elements in them but they've still taken place in the real world. Raya has completely made up a new nation with it's own history and conflicts and fictional creatures. Because of this, there is so many possibilities for sequels. Like, what exists outside of Kumandra? If trust is really the key then is it possible for people to use magic too? Is magical glow ever useful other than to set up the main goal of a movie? We don't know! And in order to find out, the movie has to be relevant and that means Raya can't be a princess...
It is perfectly safe to to to a theater. If you can go to a restaurant, you can go to a theater and use every other row to see a movie. There is no reason for theaters to be closed at this point.
Raya does not sing anything (near water as we got described in wreck-it Ralph) so nop she is not gonna be in the same group as the other princeses. Man I hated how many songs there were in Frozen, but not having at least one....makes this movie feel more like Pixar than Disney

Yeah I totally agree, but they didn't build up their relationship and Namaari as a character enough. Which is why I agree that the movie would have been so much better as a miniseries, I really wanted the gay
I did sense a spark when they were children and I noticed Namaari look away and kind of shyly tuck her hair behind her ear. My mind immediately went to Amy’s double tuck in Brooklyn 99. However, I kind of like that they left it open to interpretation.

BEN! I CAN TEACH YOU TO MAKE CLEAR ICE! The problem is the air dissolved in the water, which gets trapped as the water freezes. What you need to do is make the water push the air out of itself as it freezes. There's two ways of doing this: 1) Put your freezer to a fraction under 0C so the ice freezes veeeeeeeeery slowly. Potential problems are: the other stuff in your freezer may thaw a little, and every time you open the freezer you will essentially have to restart the process. 2) Put the water you are freezing in a very large insulated container, such as a plastic cooler, which then goes in a normal freezer. The cooler will slow the freezing process, and the volume allows the ice to form at the top of the water and freeze downward. This has the added advantage that you can just take chunks of ice off of the top of the water and top it up. Potential problem: needs a lot of space. Filtered water still works best with either method.
Right? I feel like peopel only ship these two because it looks cute or they seem gay but personally they dont seem like couple material for each other. Especially Namaari who doesnt have that much going for her, other than "I'm like the bad guy but not really" and being a dragon geek. What her and Raya have are surface level
I think there's too much history of distrust between them for any romantic relationship to work. Also, how sad is it that no single female lead can ever have a female BFF again without automatically having people ship the two together? As soon as the movie flashed back to the two interacting as children I immediately knew that everyone would slap the LGBTQ label on them. Why can't a BFF just be a BFF anymore? Why does every single princess need to automatically be an LGBTQ? I'm single and not looking for any type of romantic relationship in my life right now, so why can't the same be true for Merida, Elsa, Moana, and Raya?

Why is ben acting like he hasn't made; and then showed off his clear ice to us already ? Don't lie to me man
Having her join the lineup would definitely be awesome.
Good news people! She is now officially added to the line up!
11:47 "The second Disney Princess of Asian decent." Jasmine, Mulan, and Raya. You might wanna check your numbers again.
i *SENSED* the tension between Raya and Namaari 🏳️🌈🥰
its the 'hey adora' energy for me
If the person make a friend with a person from the same gender that doesn't mean lesbian
Kida needs to become a capital D Disney Princess. Her and Eilonwey (is that how you spell it) are the best princesses ever
Disney always has a capital D anyway!
Honestly Ben is Kristoff gushing over ice. And everytime Ben talks about ice, I can hear "ice is my life"
It is perfectly safe to to to a theater. If you can go to a restaurant, you can go to a theater and use every other row to see a movie. There is no reason for theaters to be closed at this point.
i agree :(
Raya does not sing anything (near water as we got described in wreck-it Ralph) so nop she is not gonna be in the same group as the other princeses. Man I hated how many songs there were in Frozen, but not having at least one....makes this movie feel more like Pixar than Disney
If raya becomes a princes I think she’s my favorite princess⭐️
I’ve been subscribed to this channel for years and somehow this is the first time I remember hearing about the clear ice thing
Same
Ben: "I don't think there is a male character who could be a love interest" Me: BECAUSE THEY'RE GAY ITS SO CLEARLY ENEMIES TO LOVERS LESBIANS COME ONNNN

@@ProjektTaku *you're
Bruni is in the beginning! I made a TikTok about it when they first show grown up Raya and Tuk Tuk. He’s a different color but the character design is the same and he even does the same cute little jump.
Get fresh ice from your local Norweagien lake and then you will have clear ice, how hard can that be???
I am so salty Kida doesn't qualify... Atlantis is one of my favorite disney movies ever
Same
She is super gay...I was yelling at the movie "KISS" during raya and namaaris fight
I was honestly chanting that too
I wanted them to have an enemies to lovers arc so much
Yeah I really got that vibe too.
Am I the only one who thought young Raya looked like Korra from LOK? By that I mean they were dressed practically the same!
I thought that too honestly
@@hayamihinata4135 oh thank the stars someone else saw it! Lol I thought I was gonna be called crazy or something
With everything streaming because movie theatres started to shut down it just takes one person to get a copy of the movie on a free site makes that box-office number very low
But the film is getting popular in it's own right so hopefully Disney will reconsider that.
@@Wizard608 oh no the movie is great its people who are downloading the movie and selling it to sites that bring the box office numbers down
@@avarice7577 True, but still it doesn't change the fact that it is making noise
This movie was honestly one of the best animated movies of all time. I saw it in theaters and really want to see it again.
Given that the Disney Instagram page called her the next princess ima go with yes
Raya is one of the few animated Disney characters to have the same person voice the child and adult versions, another being Gideon Grey
great video! jasmine is a favourite of mine but aladdin was the main character, (maybe its just me whos confused) but i'm glad shes part of this line up! ♥
Aladdin is the main character, but Jasmine is the lead female, which makes her eligible. Also yeah she is definitely a favourite of mine too! 💜
@@sylvereon i see! thank you! ♥ she's definitely a great character!☺
BEN! I CAN TEACH YOU TO MAKE CLEAR ICE! The problem is the air dissolved in the water, which gets trapped as the water freezes. What you need to do is make the water push the air out of itself as it freezes. There's two ways of doing this:
1) Put your freezer to a fraction under 0C so the ice freezes veeeeeeeeery slowly.
Honestly I thought that if there were a love interest in Raya it was Namaari. But i don't think their connection was that strong.
Right? I feel like peopel only ship these two because it looks cute or they seem gay but personally they dont seem like couple material for each other. Especially Namaari who doesnt have that much going for her, other than "I'm like the bad guy but not really" and being a dragon geek. What her and Raya have are surface level
I especially felt it when they were kids before the betrayal tho~
I think there's too much history of distrust between them for any romantic relationship to work. Also, how sad is it that no single female lead can ever have a female BFF again without automatically having people ship the two together? As soon as the movie flashed back to the two interacting as children I immediately knew that everyone would slap the LGBTQ label on them. Why can't a BFF just be a BFF anymore? Why does every single princess need to automatically be an LGBTQ? I'm single and not looking for any type of romantic relationship in my life right now, so why can't the same be true for Merida, Elsa, Moana, and Raya?
@@sassys5614 I agree with you. They are in the end all children's movies i think that finding lasting friendships should play a larger role than finding love interests
@@sassys5614 I just want representation :(
It doesn’t need to be all! Single Moana, single Merida, even single Elsa - awesome! We just want at least onnnneeee 🙏 Especially for the kids!
That was the wrong time for me to take a drink of water. "Paper clips. Big ones."
Also we need to make Atlantis popular, it's really good.
Me who was pronounced Raya wrong the whole time:😲
Reya I guess
Keep waiting for SCB WandaVision finale reactions/theories. Keep getting Raya 😭
Been waiting for a rays theory

honestly when i first watched it i thought Raya and Namaari were gonna have an enemy to lovers arc
Last time i was this early Ben was clean shaven
I liked this as soon as "paper clips, big ones." XD
but "I went to Julliard" also got me
Where is Wandavision?!!
1. I love that I can rewatch these videos whenever I want a refresher on what you guys said about these
2. I actually saw this movie in theaters and bought premiere access
I would go see Raya in cinemas...once the cinemas are open in the UK, which is like May .... international cinemas being closed must be effecting the box office numbers big time
Yeah... I was luckily able to (I live in NZ) and it was so cool in cinemas! Such a pity most people will miss out :((
Who are Anna and elsa’s animal side kicks in Frozen 1? (Olaf doesn’t count - he’s a snowman - and Sven is Kristoff’s sidekick)
If the glove fits
Only Qualifications for Disney Princess:
Does she have a pretty dress?
Does she sing a song?
Does she have an animal sidekick?
Merida doesn't sing, Brave isn't a musical
@@patax144 Brave isn't a musical, but it does have "Touch the Sky" which I clearly link with Merida due to it's placement in the film. Raya doesn't really have a song at all, which does make me question if she may be the next D.P. snub like Kida before her...
@@sassys5614 Lead The Way is Raya's song 🤨
Raya is actually the third Asian Disney princess. Jasmine is the first, Mulan is the second.
Right?! Also Aladdin is older than Mulan?
I think different countries view ‘Asian’ as covering different places? Idk I had this discussion in the comments of some other video hahaha
Wait, Jasmine is Asian? I never thought she was Asian... *confused face*
@@silver9wolf6 I think she's Persian, but definitely middle eastern
@@bertoandon9681 Ok!
its my personal headcannon that her and namaari are the queens
ofc. after the world returns & the 2 make their relationship public the tribes all decided to fully unite. they have a giant correntation where they both get married & become the leaders. all 5 of the previous leaders have a part in the ceremony- with the 2 parents having the biggest parts (besides the queens obviously)
Got me thinking, Jasmine doesn't qualify.
Yes she's royal
Yes she's in the first movie
Yes she is human and has an animal side kick
BUT she is not the main character the movie is called Aladdin he's the main character.
He doesn't qualify because he doesn't marry royal until a sequel.
It isn't really having to be the main character, it is just having to be the leading, or one of the leading females in the movie. Which is why disney once classified Jane from Tarazan as a disney princess before shortly demoting her.
I really want Raya to become a disney princess because the movie is just freaking awesome, but can we just talk about how sweet, funny, and precious Boun is???🥺🥺🥺🥺
I feel like Raya will be up there with belle and jasmine, wil she go higher to elsa, vanellope and others? We'll find out
Wait Jasmine, I completely forgot about her. Isn't she Asian? Does she not meet the qualifications? Didn't he just say that Raya would be the second Asian after Mulan?

Great rationale! Can't wait to watch the movie myself!
I’m pretty sure right at the beginning of Raya there is an Easter egg for Finding Nemo. When Tuck Tuck sets off the traps for Raya she says “give me some shell”
Oh yeah, good catch! I didnt think of that!
But also, Ana and Elsa are Queens, therefore not princesses.
er- mulan is not a priness too tho
@@asmiaryal3942 True. But that ship sailed long time ago. Also, nobody wants to take away the Princess title from a hero as Mulan 😉
@@tigrezangel yaah, she is my favorite disney princess!!!
But Anna and Elsa were princesses first. So if they later get added, they still qualify.
The act of heroism used to be there for Tinkerbell and Esmerelda as well.
I'm confused, she's already being marketed as a Disney Princess (On the official website and her merch)
Considering that they did an entire video of the voices of most of the other princesses (and Jonathan Groff for some reason) "welcoming" Kelly Marie Tran 'into the Disney family.' I'd say it's likely
11:20 Ngl, but I'd really like it if Raya and Namaari got together. They sound adorable together. They'd be awesome queens and, politically, it would be a good move since there would likely still be distrust towards those from Talon since they made the Drunn come back in the first place.
It was actually Fang, not Talon that brought the Druun back
