This looks cool I’m gonna order one. I just had a house built in nov and first time home owner. Grew up in apartments so excited to take care of my lawn after winters over and the snow melts and was wondering how I would water the side of my house without watering the neighbors lol so this is cool that I can have it go back and forth on the side of the house
I agree that the "turbo" type oscillators are the best hose end sprinkler you can use - especially if you have a rectangular shaped yard. The coverage is very consistent with no dry spots apparent. I also like them because they give the soil a few seconds to absorb the moisture before the next pass comes along with more water. However, take a close look at your video where the water is falling near the fence. The water hovers at the fence for a full 3 seconds. The reason is the geometry of the sweeping process. On the way toward the end of the sweep the water reaches max distance about 1.5 seconds before the sweep reaches the trigger to go back. Then it takes another 1.5 seconds for the water to move back the other way. If you make small adjustments on the levers you can make it snap back the other direction when the water reaches full distance, so the water does not flood at the ends of the sweep. The best way to measure and apply 1 inch of water to the lawn is to place several cat food or tuna cans around the yard. Turn the sprinkler on and time how long it takes to fill all the cans. If one can fills much faster than the rest, then you need to figure out why. With the oscillators they should fill evenly. My oscillators, with my Craftsman hoses and my water pressure, can fill the cans in 8 hours. That seems like a long time to water, but deep watering should be the rule for everyone. I only water once every week or two in the hottest heat of the Texas summer, so the 8 hours is well spent.
I have the largest Melnor oscillator. Not only can the sweep be adjusted but the width can too. Melnor is known to be great at handling warranty problems. I have an array of their different sprinklers including a traveling sprinkler.
I owned one of these sprinklers...after one season, two of the nozzles on the sprinkler came off so I had two streams of much thicker output and much shorter output. As w/ most all products today, nothing seems to last. But, I agree it is probably higher quality than most!
I’ve had a cast iron, Nelson rain tractor for a number of years and multiple moves. Adjustable speed (fast, slow and stationary) and adjustable water throw. Lasts forever.... give it a try.
There's a pin the screws out at the far end of the spray tube. It has a built in pin. Take the cap off, turn the water on a little and put the pin through each nozzel to clean each hole out.
Doc, bought two of these today, however I’m not getting the best pressure with it wide open. I’m using a 100’ 5/8” 250psi. My fan doesn’t not look anywhere as close to yours, any thoughts?
I'm curious how long it's lasted? Do you still have it and does it still work like it did when you bought it? The one I have has a dial instead of the levers and I'm regretting that because it doesn't turn well anymore and I can't get it to the setting I need and I've only had it a year, so it's past the warrantee. If this orbit one really has lasted more than a year it would definitely be worth the money.
what is the pacific name of this sprinkler you are using in this video please, this looks perfect for what i am looking for. or do you have a weblink i can buy it off.
Glad you've reviewed this sprinkler. I never imagined I'd be looking for a sprinkler video lol..

Hello Bruce! Do you have the model number?
Linda!!!! What a wicked little rascal! Chewing up the box! Thanks for sharing the sprinkler info, my back yard sprinkler system misses areas too 😒😒😒

I just bought one of these and one selling point was the weight of it. With higher water pressure it keeps the sprinkler grounded. Great coverage too.
I have a similar one. I can also narrow the number of holes the water comes out of when I have narrow patch to water.

These oscillating style sprinklers mimic rainfall the best.
Thanks doc; picked up this one today!
Just got one today you sold me! As soon as I heard at Lowe’s I was halfway there lol
I’m trusting you, just bought 2 on the Lowe’s app to go with the new sod being installed next week.
Save tons of bucks building a irrigation system, and no worry for winterize etc. Thanks for the sharing
Great video. I purchased the 4600 and it’s amazing. I love it.!!!!!!
Love this sprinkler for spot watering. I only have about 20 psi so it only covers 500 sf
merry Christmas and nice backyard dude as we call it in Australia
Thanks for the review. Please do a follow up on how to take apart and clean this sprinkler. Mine is clogged and needs to be cleaned.

Have you ever had a traveling sprinkler Doc?
That's the fastest oscillating sprinkler i've ever seen, but it's very cool to watch. Mine oscillates a lot slower.
Whats the PSI at the end of your hose?
Linda is adorable!
How much is your GPM ?
Was on sale at Lowe's for 19.99
have you got a weblink for that for me to buy it?

Adjust the main pressure valve in your house. It's located near the main incoming pipe. There are videos on how to do that.
Hi Fur baby cousin! Like the sprinkler.
Hey Doc. Did you ever think you would be doing a review on a sprinkler?
Are you giving one of these sprinklers away Doc ? I'll have to look at these, seems to throw out a great pattern. Thanks, JohnG

It's super fast too
Who else just runs through the sprinkler on a hot day?
I cant figure out how to up my water pressure. Ugh
I just can't find the regulator.
