Marc stays true to the original recording, and Adam made it his own which is what Queen liked. You personally prefer the copies of the original which is fine. If I want original I'll listen to Freddie. Personally Marc sounds like a really good tribute band.

@BlackQueen29 Your reasoning does not make any sense! I say they asked Adam to sing with them in 2009 and Adam said yes! And obviously they liked him. Didn't you understand that part? But Adam was tied to a contract. So they couldn't tour right away. Simple as that. That they like Marc too, has nothing to do with this. I can watch this video and easily pick up that you are a Marc fan. So Adam did not have a chance with your vocalist comparison. Marc is great, but Adam is Adam and he always takes a slight different take on a song. His voice is the best I have heard in a long time. Watch Adam on American Idol, with each song he sings he takes a different take of his own. He's a genius.

@@Leander_ Roger and Brian are in their 70s now, and they say they are enjoying performing the music they wrote with their friend Freddie Mercury. They have also said they are fans of the songs their friend Adam Lambert writes. Brian and Roger seem to have a great deal of respect and affection for Adam Lambert, and rightly so. I truly don't understand why some people have a problem with him fronting Queen. Brian and Roger chose Adam Lambert, not because they were looking for a replacement for Freddie Mercury, but because Adam is an incredible singer and performer. As Adam Lambert has said "many times" he is not trying to fill Freddies shoe's. He brings his own shoe's to every performance. And if you think Marc sings those songs terrible, you really should go and listen to bootlegs. This morning I happened to listen to Queen ""Fat bottomed girls'' in Boston 1982. @@Leander_ Maybe you should reconsider your use of the word "karaoke". Adam is the worst karaoke singer in the world. Have we even heard one song from him ever where he tries to do it the original way? He is always trying to mix it up. Marc is trying so hard to get as close as possible to the original when he does Queen, it just doesn't do it for me. "Tie your mother down" with Tyler was nice though, but I much prefer his original work that for his voice has much better balance between registers. He sounds really cool in the lower register and great when he soars from there. Nice lyrics too. As for Freddie..no news that his voice control was lousy at times. Way worse examples out there :)

Freddie lacerated the vocals in the studio version in one take, according to Brian May, after angrily reacting to him expressed doubt that he could physically manage it anymore. Especially considering it was recorded in 1990/91 when Freddie was extremely ill, you really can't compare it to anything else. Martel and Lambert are on the similar level with their vocals, it all a matter of style preference to choose one over the other. Freddie himself liked preforming things live different than in studio, so as to throw in spice and variety so it isn't "boring".

He may not sound exactly like Freddie in the way Marc might do, but I don’t think Queen want to feel like they’re on stage with a copy of Freddie and just repeating old stuff, I think they want to feel like they’re creating a new show and a new experience. Honestly if they wanted Adam to stick to the script, as it were, I bet he could. He’s been in musical theater where you don’t get to just add in your own stuff wherever you want, he knows how to do that. I'm no expert when it comes to singing, but I know what I like. Adam Lambert was asked to tour with Queen because of his vocal range, technical ability, personality, and showmanship. Queen did not want a Freddie wannabe for their tour. In fact they have stated they wouldn't be touring if they hadn't found Adam. I also think that Adam knows exactly how to use his voice to enable him to do multiple concerts a week. He had done this for years. Singing Live, I don't expect anyone, either Marc or Adam to be pitch perfect. I also don't see for this song that it is fair to compare either one against Freddie, since Freddie never performed this song live. As others have stated, Adam is not trying to sound like Freddie. Adam puts his own spin on it, while maintaining enough of the original song for it still to be Queen. For me, I would not pay money to see Queen with a Freddie replica, I would just watch the old videos. With Adam, you get to hear Queen and their songs and hear Adam, whom is a technical genius when it comes to singing songs and making them his own. Saw Queen with Freddie 1975 Christmas Eve, tonight with Adam Lambert. Both incredible shows fronted by incredible showmen. Messrs May and Taylor constants of course.
@DrBrianMay @OfficialRMT @QueenWillRock @adamlambert wow!! That gig will live in my memory forever, I was at Knebworth in 1986, miss Freddie’s voice so much, so happy you guys found each other! Thank you! #matchmadeinheaven
I was fortunate enough to see Queen with Freddie twice. I have never seen anyone play to an audience like him. He was never afraid to take chances. I got lucky, and saw Queen with Adam live recently, and my jaw dropped. What a killer show they put on. Go see it!
I've been going to see Queen live since 1978 but @DrBrianMay, @adamlambert and @OfficialRMT last night in Glasgow was phenomenal. Thank you!!!!!
Hey mate, the bloody game was called off! Anyway we moseyed on up the toon, I’m just in actually after a 12.30 start, great day out. Queen were terrific mate,m I’ve been lucky enough to see Freddie Mercury in the 8O’s and Adam Lambert to his credit was a great front man
30 years since I have seen Queen and this was just brilliant! @adamlambert Freddie would be so proud
Having not seen Queen without Freddie until now - I’m so pleased that I saw them @TheO2 with Adam Lambert last evening. It was one of the most incredible shows I’ve seen. Adam Lambert doesn’t attempt to replace Freddie but pays great tribute to his memory - an honour
You know you loty Queenies....we make people rich. Told my relatives not to expect any monies upon my death because I am throwing it all at Adam and Queen. Saw Freddie 5 times have to say this time around is twice the fun.
Fellow Canadians at the bar who had seen Queen with Freddie have to admit Adam's range far surpasses Freddie's.
Guy beside me had seen Freddie 3 times, Paul Rodgers 2 times. LOVED @adamlambert Lots of OMGs, phenomenal & wows. Told you, I said.
I last saw Queen in 1986 at Wembley London, Freddy was awesome back then. I was happily surprised by Adam Lambert...
boygeorgeofficial Went to see @adamlambert performing with #Queen in Sydney and it was fabulous. Adam’s voice is astounding and he does not need to apologize for not being Freddy Mercury. Adam brings his own flavor to those timeless songs and he is a wonderful artist in his own right. Loved the glittering 70s platforms. Brian singing ‘love of my life’ was beautiful. No need to apologize Brian you bring beauty and vulnerability to my fave Queen song!
Roger on ‘It’s A Kind Of Magic’ was also full of feeling. Very Bowie-esque and I loved the drum solos and Brian’s axe lamenting. It was a night with everything. GO you will live for it!
@adamlambert I saw queen 5 times 77-86. Saw u with the guys in 2014 and again on Wednesday in Sydney. U enhance their brilliance and it is just as enjoyable watching them now as it was with Freddie.credit to you.
Haha my dad a massive Queen fan. My parents saw Freddie live. Yes Freddie not Freddy. Now considers @adamlambert as “Freddie’s heir apparent”. Was stunned by his performance. This is Adams legacy

He also had vocal nodules, and obviously all the smoking and drinking was not exactly good for his voice. All that abuse of his vocals, and he still was one of the greatest male vocalists of all time. Not to mention, some of his best vocals ever were recorded while he was litterally sick and dying. And of course, the only difference between Freddie's live and his studio was in the amount of takes. And he still did some mind blowing things live, such as m.th-cam.com/video/r2Byk3ybyv4/w-d-xo.html
Marc has a rather small work schedule, ideal conditions for his voice, and in studio has all the tech of the 21st century. Also, unlike Freddie who was constantly experimenting with and mastering a tremendous range of styles and techniques with his voice, both live and in studio, Marc just sort of imitates and sticks to the same old same old. Part of the fun of watching Freddie live was to hear a different and unique spin on the songs each time he sang them. He never really ever did things exactly the same from show to show. He's not the only one who can sound like Freddie. There's too many Queen's revivals. Queen doesn't want to replace Freddie, they don't want to copy him. They want someone who will be different. I have watched this guy's reviews (adam & marc) couple of times. It seems he prefers marc's style than adam's. Queen will not pick someone that will replace freddie mercury.. That's why it says "queen + adam lambert". It's a collaboration. They try to re-create the songs and make it relevant in the present. When you talk about the voice, talent, style, charisma, etc, Adam Lambert is the total package.. He is a true artist. Freddie and Adam are so creative. I'm not familiar with Marc, but the truth is I only know him as freddie mercury's voice impersonator. I have nothing against Marc but i don't know much about him and I'm not interested in googling him up. To Adam Mishan, I respect your opinion but I'm sure you know why Queen picked Adam as frontman. Yeah, Adam is a great singer, and he has his own style (musically and visually) nailed down to a Tee, but like a vast majority of Queen fans, We know Brian and Roger like him, but when taking on any of their songs, knowing who sang the majority of them, and that, that person is so beloved and revered, as to what you said, he should at least try to stick more to the original. I know he doesn't want to imitate Freddie, and rightly so, but it's pretty much like burning a Holy book when doing what you want with a Queen song and not perfecting it to the best of your ability as to the original. Still, I'm glad for Adam, as he gets to perform with what remains of one of the greatest and undoubtedly THEE most influential band of all time. props to him, as to Marc, I just love hearing his voice, even though there's little nuance's that creep in that you can differentiate between him and Freddie, but that's what makes Marc amazing, he's pushing himself (he said himself how much strain he's under every concert to perfect the songs and it can have an adverse effect if he's not careful) but he pushes himself, even though his voice is naturally akin to Freddie's, he still tries and pushes himself to honour Freddie (I don't mean tries as in forcing it, as it flows with him, just he's trying to deliver the best he can constantly for the fans and for Freddie)

Distortion is when on top of the regular sound created with true vocal cords, a singer "throws in" a bit of vestibular cord (false cords) action, like a bit of rasp, for example. That is called texturizing in singing.

And he does a real good job of it. This guy can sound like anyone. "The Many Voices of Marc Martel" it's right here on this channel. In his original work with Downhere he doesn't sound much like Freddie. Like the old saying goes: if you ain't got a voice of your own..you ain't got a voice at all!

I was too young to enjoy Freddie so it'd be quite the experience to hear someone so close to the original voice, who it was meant and written for, in person. To me, Adam Lambert is a great singer in his own right however, seeing him perform with Queen is like seeing the remakes of Lion King, Aladdin, Ghostbusters or Mulan (No more love interest unfortunately). It's hard for younger generation to really appreciate the originals without them either still performing or sticking close to the original product.

@@hellobello3153 go listen to Freddie and know the original. A cheap copy will never be anything anywhere, or you can listen to the best singer ever, Adam Lambert, and enjoy it.
