Contrarily, InfiniteTVXQ, I'm thinking he may not have done as well had he won! Five years with Queen? Has any other A.I. contestant done as well? OK, Kelly Clarkston & Jennifer Hudson (who won a Grammy & an Oscar & one other, maybe Golden Globe?). I think the years with Queen have done him well. His voice is SO MUCH more refined now. When he sung Cher's "Believe" & "I Got You, Babe" at the 41st Kennedy Center Honor, I was astounded! His voice was much more controlled & rich. It brought tears to my eyes. Cher's, too! I also love his rendition of "Girl Crush" with a singer named Fiona something. I wish he'd do an album of the slower, romantic ballads. It would probably stun everyone...in a good way! Go, Adam! I especially love him when he's not "acting the fool" as we say here in the south! He's great just the way he is...no special effects needed!

I watched Adam Lambert on American Idol back in high school and they always gave him hell about the tongue thing (the judges and viewers), so it's good to know that was an unjustified criticism.
The judges were music manager and popular signers. They were no technicians like Sam Johnson. Their commentary are always bullcrap and never actually constructive. They're looking for money not actual artists. It's the same for all the other similar shows.

As a voice student (Berklee) and someone who’s been classically trained for over 13 years, I cant say enough how thorough you are Sam. It’s such a clear difference between you and the viral “voice coaches” who are simply mimicking sounds. Thank you for your hard work and succinctness!!
Hey Sam. Been a musician my whole life (guitar) and while I’m not a trained singer I need you to know that you’re the only vocal coach on TH-cam who I can listen to for a long period of time. I truly love your approach and optimism to “reacting” to other singers. While other coaches use their platform to boost themselves up, by either humble bragging, singing the notes “better” than the singer their reacting to, or just harshly criticizing the singer. You come off as very humble, VERY intelligent and very encouraging. This may not seem like a big deal but if you watch other vocal coach youtubers you will see just how unique you are. Even my wife who has sung her whole life commented on just how intelligent you are and how great you are at deciphering what a singer is doing right or wrong and how quickly you’re able to find a solution. You probably won’t ever see this but if you do I hope you take this to heart. There’s nothing I respect more in a human being than humility and intelligence. And after watching most if not all of your videos, I can strongly claim you carry both of those traits. Take care!
That was one of the nicest things I have read in the comments section on any video. What a thoughtful thing to do for Sam. I 100% agree with you and something tells me we are not the only people to feel this way about him.
Jenny Sef - it’s the reason his channel is growing so fast. There is a never ending line of TH-cam critics who talk out their butt in order to gain clout. So when someone like Sam emerges people notice the difference between him and a second rate critic. I think he has the 3 best qualities in a music teacher. 1) Knowing what you’re talking about/ability to find solutions. 2) Patience/optimism with a lack of judgement. 3) Humility - I didn’t set out to write a love letter to Sam, but there are certain qualities in people that resonate with me in a way where I have to tell them.
I don't follow anyone who is harshly critical. However I don't mind when they demonstrate how to sing a section, because they're just showing to us what they're talking about. I don't see why that's a problem?
By the way, you might want to check out another voice coach reactor called Beth Roars. She's fabulous, she gives informative critiques and really breaks it down simply, and she doesn't do a whole lot of demonstrating.
I adore Adam Lambert's voice and I'm so glad you did one of his videos. I really dug this version of Believe. I never really paid attention to the lyrics before this.
Dtto about the crying thing someone mentioned. Cher sings the song with this happy confidence like she's already over the person - which is a valid choice and makes sense with the electronic track, as you pointed out, Sam. But Adam really takes you on a journey of processing the breakup with all the pain and uncertainty, so that when he finally gets to "I don't need you anymore", I'm actually tearing up and thinking "no you don't, fuck that guy, you're stronger without him!" :)))

We in the Glambert community call that at 5:28 the GLORY NOTE. lol He's pretty famous for the tongue note. But he's almost always on point with his singing. He's one of the rare few that doesn't have to try too hard to get his vocals across.
So glad you talked about Adam and his amazing tongue use. My small pat on my own back is that when he first tried out for American Idol, I was blown away, and one of the things I noticed right off the bat, was his great tongue position. I knew he would go far, I think you will too.
I've been to Adam's solo gigs and also seen him with QUEEN. Unbelievably he sounds even better live! His vocals are mind-blowing, his control is unreal. Best male vocalist out there..
I was fortunate enough to see Adam live in concert when he was on tour with the last guys of Queen. His voice is amazing, he's such a naturally gifted performer. I though he was such a great choice to fill in for Freddie.
Aww he made Cher cry...and I was singing along too, and seeing the audience so captivated by it was beautiful and magical. Love Adam's voice too. Made the song more emotional and powerful too :D
I have a friend who is trying to improve his singing, but suffers from terrible posture and major jaw and tongue tension, so before I did anything else, I made him watch several videos of Adam Lambert singing live. Then I made him do vocalises standing against the wall and using a paper towel to pull his tongue forward. The difference is instantaneous.
When you were talking about his tongue, I was trying that phrase out to hear the difference with tongue forward and tongue back and then I got weirded out because it felt like my tongue didn’t fit in my mouth anymore 🤷♀️
So frustrated that I can't find the full video of this year's ceremony, I wasn't able to watch it live. I've just realized in the past year that it is a must watch event, always fascinating.
Sam, I tried the tongue out thing in my chamber choir rehearsals and was completely blown away by my much more fuller sound and how easy it makes singing in higher ranges! Thank you so much
I clicked on this IMMEDIATELY! Love Adam Lambert. You are so great about analyzing techniques and sounds based on the individuality of each person and their voice. This was awesome, Sam!
He amazes me. That was surgical. Point on. I was worried for like 2 seconds when he started so high but then I was like, oh never mind it’s Adam Lambert.
I love Adam Lambert and his vocals he always knows what notes to hit and miss. I'm so happy that you reacted to his version of Believe which I adore so much. I've been listening to him since he was on Idol looking back on it now it's so cool that he's grown as a person and had changed a lot.
I’m so glad you did a reaction video of Adam. His ability blows me away. I also love your reaction to his performance. I also love your knowledge and explanation of his technique. I’ve been wanting to hear your thought on his voice.
Adam never needed to win Idol, they knew they’d be seeing a lot more of him and his career. Sam, I enjoyed the way you took this performance apart and showed us how Adam uses his instrument.
Sam, your break down of performances is just on whole another level.. A lot of singers and coaches couldn't do so even when they tried. They miss out things like voice placement at 5:36, regarding how he went to that note. Some won't even tell the effort made by Adam or singers they are reacting/ reviewing/criticizing. That tongue "fix", Adam flipping from his usual, naturally compressed cords to breathier sound etc etc. And those placements and tone where the balance is just so good that you genuinely go "ah, that's a really good tone!". It is things like that which really help singers to start acknowledging such effort and train their ears to discern what is good or better - for those that trust your judgement. I do! And I believe many others do! Really, really enjoy your videos.
For years I've been wondering about Adam sticking his tongue forward. Thank you for explaining! I'd love to see you react to some oldies, Sinatra, Belafonte, The Beatles, etc.
I’ve been a huge fan of Adam Lambert for years, so I’m so glad you’ve done this review! I didn’t expect you to do this one for some reason, but I’m happy that you did.
Sam I really enjoy your vocal analyses. You are so clear and straightforward, even those of us who aren't singers come away with a fresh perspective and deeper appreciation of the music. I'm a big Lambert fan and have been waiting for this - thanks for all you do!
Great tip on how to hold your tongue, Sam! I just sing for my own enjoyment (spent all my school years in one choir or other but never had formal training) but watching your videos, even just your critiques/analyses, has definitely improved my technique - so thank you for that!
I was in a choir/band about 12-8 years ago, but it was all amateur stuff with no training, and I was told I always sing really tight in my throat (but could find notes pretty well) and I needed to relax to improve. I never did figure that out, but the other day I was thinking about one of Sam's points in one of his videos - to sing with your talking voice - and I honestly felt my singing in a totally different way, working something in my deep, lower chest (diaphragm?! Finally?!?) I'd never worked before when singing. I don't know if it's better or not, but if that just flipped a switch in my body that I'd been hoping to find for a decade, then wow, and thanks!
Best appointments I've ever seen since this version came out. (I've seen a looot of reactions btw and I am a voice teacher too here in brasil). Good job mate.
The best voice on planet earth And probably the whole galaxy It’s even difficult for me to believe that there could be a better voice than Adam’s in parallel universe Seriously
You obviously really know what you are talking about. I really love the fact that you always have so much praise for the artist and passion for your work. Keep it up!

I believe the tears are from witnessing an evocative, truly professional, absolutely perfect, transcendent performance. I don't know. My reaction has not changed in 20 viewings over 3 months.
So excited to see you back so soon and with this performance by Adam Lambert!!! Watching you enjoy it is part of the pleasure. Loved how he slowed it down so I could understand all the words. Your explanation of his tongue placement.... Would love to see you react to Pink when she is actively upside down, doing silk work, climbing outside on a building, etc and singing at the same time! Thanks Sam! Can’t wait for next time❤️

We in the Glambert community call that at 5:28 the GLORY NOTE. lol He's pretty famous for the tongue note. But he's almost always on point with his singing. He's one of the rare few that doesn't have to try too hard to get his vocals across.
I remember back when you had only 20k subscribers, proud of you man.
i love how he smirks because he knows he is killing all of us with his voice
Love your breakdown of his voice. I also loved the breath he projected in parts of the song that made you think he is about to breakdown emotionally.
I love how happy you are watching him perform! So pure
I honestly think that Adam is so underrated, I really love his voice ❤😩
So glad you talked about Adam and his amazing tongue use. My small pat on my own back is that when he first tried out for American Idol, I was blown away, and one of the things I noticed right off the bat, was his great tongue position. I knew he would go far, I think you will too.
I've been to Adam's solo gigs and also seen him with QUEEN. Unbelievably he sounds even better live! His vocals are mind-blowing, his control is unreal. Best male vocalist out there..
his version is one of the best songs i have ever heard period.. glad you did this video
I was fortunate enough to see Adam live in concert when he was on tour with the last guys of Queen. His voice is amazing, he's such a naturally gifted performer. I though he was such a great choice to fill in for Freddie.
Adam is the best male singer in the new generation.
Feride Dogan aw man, I do enjoy Adam, but honestly Dimash wipes the floor with him a little lol
Feride Dogan and by that I mean go check out Sam’s review of Dimash singing S.O.S
@milchuck it's like a poor mans curry
I have to agree.I had given up on true, real talent. This beautiful man has renewed my faith.💟🌈💟
@milchuck Dimash is the best vocalist in the world.
He sang this on Hollywood week when he was on American idol, He honestly sounds way better now than he did back then! He keeps improving!
One of the best performances ever
Aww he made Cher cry...and I was singing along too, and seeing the audience so captivated by it was beautiful and magical. Love Adam's voice too. Made the song more emotional and powerful too :D
Cher wiping her tears away listening is my religion
I have a friend who is trying to improve his singing, but suffers from terrible posture and major jaw and tongue tension, so before I did anything else, I made him watch several videos of Adam Lambert singing live. Then I made him do vocalises standing against the wall and using a paper towel to pull his tongue forward. The difference is instantaneous.
Yesssss ! Keep up the good work!
I've been a fan of Adam's ever since American Idol. I loved his performance of Ring of Fire, which the judges hated.
My husband and I saw Adam Lambert with Queen. He was amazing!!
When you were talking about his tongue, I was trying that phrase out to hear the difference with tongue forward and tongue back and then I got weirded out because it felt like my tongue didn’t fit in my mouth anymore 🤷♀️
I love this performance so much! Cher's reaction made my heart melt.
Hamilton people in the audience, Cher crying, I may need to track down all the kennedy centre honours videos
It was an amazing show! A beautiful night of several of my favorite artists.
So frustrated that I can't find the full video of this year's ceremony, I wasn't able to watch it live. I've just realized in the past year that it is a must watch event, always fascinating.
Every year is a great show. Either the end of dec or jan it’s broadcast on cbs.
Oh, they's some goodies in there!
Be sure to watch Heart, with musicians and choir, performing Stairway to Heaven to honor Led Zeppelin.
Sam, I tried the tongue out thing in my chamber choir rehearsals and was completely blown away by my much more fuller sound and how easy it makes singing in higher ranges! Thank you so much
I’m so proud of how far you’ve come Sam! I remember when you were at 15k subs and I was just waiting for you to blow up
This is all your fault, Kai.
Sam Johnson I only support the best, Sam
He did such a beautiful job he made my queen cry!!!
His transitions and that mix is insane more plz! do his Queen + Adam Lambert The Show Must Go on Live at the O2!
The emotion he gives is just always amazing.
Yes! You finally did a video about Adam Lambert!!! Please do his best live vocals!!! Love ya Sam!
Adam can evoke such tones and emotions -- this performance exemplies that example.
Adam Lambert never concerns me when he sings. He ALWAYS gets to where he is going with passion and clarity. Makes my ears happy.
I saw his live version of led Zeppelin. I almost passed out from how amazing he sounded!
Great tip on how to hold your tongue, Sam! I just sing for my own enjoyment (spent all my school years in one choir or other but never had formal training) but watching your videos, even just your critiques/analyses, has definitely improved my technique - so thank you for that!
Also I absolutely LOVE Adam Lambert and his unearthly voice, so this video was a total winner for me.
For months, I’ve kept typing adam’s name beside yours to find any reaction videos you might have made, and now I’m thrilled
✌️🇪🇬
Finally you are analyzing Adam! I have been waiting for this moment since I first subscribed to your channel 😃
Same, I'm so happy the day has finally come!
Me too!!! Love Adam!
Best appointments I've ever seen since this version came out. (I've seen a looot of reactions btw and I am a voice teacher too here in brasil). Good job mate.
The best voice on planet earth
And probably the whole galaxy
It’s even difficult for me to believe that there could be a better voice than Adam’s in parallel universe
Seriously
Adam Lambert is EVERYTHING
You obviously really know what you are talking about. I really love the fact that you always have so much praise for the artist and passion for your work. Keep it up!
thank you for finally reacting to this video. i shared it on twitter hoping you would when it was released. this gave me chills.
Thank you for this video! I adore Adam so much, I was so bummed he didn’t win. I’ll never forgive when he sang Bohemian Rhapsody during his audition and now he’s touring with Queen.
I love watching you enjoy watching Adam's performance with so much admiration and mezmiration. And your comments are helpful as always. 🤩
Never was a big fan of Adam Lambert but have to admit I was blown away by this performance when I watched the Kennedy Center Honors show, He's come a long way since his American Idol days and glad that you've given him his just due recognition.
He did this same version of Believe on Idol Round three, Oct 2009. The only difference was he pumped it up a bit.
This performance is one that will forever stick with me, i can’t even describe not only how good it is but just the pure beauty and control he displays, amazing reaction and review btw much love from mexico
I just commented on another vocal coach’s page that his technical analysis of this performance was great. So is this one. Very good. I learned a lot about the vocals from both.
Adam Lambert has been one of my faves since American Idol 😊. I've always wondered why a lot of vocalists pull their mics away sometimes and what it adds to the performance. I'm glad you're uploading more recently!
Yessssssssss! Thank you for doing an Adam Lambert one! Love your sincerity and kindness in every video :)
When I first saw watched that performance I was crying right along with Cher LOL. He is a master at the build up.
I’m so happy to see your reaction to this. It’s one of the most beautiful and memorable singing performances I’ve ever seen.
I'm hoping it was my comment that made you react to him :) I absolutely love Adam and his voice, thank you so much for your analysis and kind words towards him. It is great to see him appreciated by someone who knows his stuff :D great video ♥
Amazing performance. I fell in love with him all over again. Thanks for reacting to it, Sam 😘
It's so nice to hear a valid critique from a true vocal coach. Thank you.
I can't watch this performance without an extended smile, on multiple occasions, from pure joy and uncontrollable tears.
Thanks Sam! Can’t wait for next time❤️
I find your insights very helpful in being able to listen to singers. I appreciate the art even more. I agree with several others on wanting to hear your reactions to Adam Lambert's who wants to live forever. The isle of white is great as other live ones.
One of my favorite videos of Adam's to listen to is him singing "Come to Me, Bend to Me" from 'Brigadoon'. It is absolutely beautiful and shows his amazing breath control. It's here on TH-cam
Please Sam....do this "come to me, bend to me" Adams singing.... it's perfect in a classical way...and it's
Alive singing... I know you're going to give us the best analysis and you're going to love it
One of the best voice analyses ever on TH-cam. Both Adam and Sam were superb.
Love love love love love love love him. Like so much, thanks for doing a video on him, Adam is one of my favs
Love Adam so much!
Adam is the best ever
Thank you so much Sam for covering Adam Lambert! Been waiting too long :)
I'm not a fan of dance music so I never realized how beautiful the lyrics are!
Please do more Adam Lambert reactions! It's soooo good! Thank you for all your very technical advices.
This is my favorite performance from Adam. Makes me so happy!! Love this man and his voice!! He should have won American Idol!!
I’ve loved Adam since I caught him as Fiyero at the pantages. (As an understudy) He was great then and has only become more so. I love this analysis of his instrument.
