- This is in my opinion a good, bad and sad ending all in one. Johnny Silverhand (Keanu Reeves) takes over V's body. V having found out that he would only live for 6 more months decided to sacrifice himself and give his body to Johnny. V dies in this ending. Johnny Silverhand leaves Night City. Johnny ending.

@@sturmgewehr45398 yeah but also beyond that there is character development. We see that at the motel. They are still different people as shown by their different views and arguments at the end. In my ending Johnny gets Rogue to help as she realises he finally changed. When Johnny says he reached an epiphany and V said no, you reached maturity that was much earlier in the game. Basically yes they are becoming the same but Johnny is progressing on his own. Also V is more turning into Johnny as Hellman explained as the preliminary stage to Johnny taking over.

I think Johnny buying the guitar for the kid was a really nice touch.
I felt johnny having the dialouge option to scold him on smoking shows beautiful development. I never smoked in the game not once. My V totally refuses to do that. And johnny respected V's wishes and takes care of his body.

I don't like the voice acting for female or male V that much but male V has more realistic emotional reactions to convos and interactions in the game. Female V not so much.

There's something disturbingly beautiful about this ending to me. Sure, it's sad, but there's something to be said about the fact that V could do what others in Johnny's life couldn't: break Johnny out of his egotistical shell and show Johnny that while you should never stop fighting, if you burn the whole world down, there won't be anything to fight for. Life is worth living. Stop and smell the roses, so to speak. So while the Nomad ending is the most peaceful and beautiful in its own right, even oddly hopeful, this ending carries more emotional weight for me personally since it really is the one that shows how much Johnny's developed as a person and how important V was to Johnny.

While it’s a neat ending. Misty’s card reading identifies this as a bad ending. The Magician, The Hanged Man, and the Star. She states their not good cards. Like death but not quite.

The character development in this game is so beautiful. Just amazed to see how a guy who was an addict of smoking and drinking gave up all that to just take care of the body of someone he met not a long time ago. Just shows his love and respect for V, the guy who gave his life for Johnny.

It's not like V is dead.. he can still come back, just like Saburo came back.
@@Ludo045 his body started to see him as an intruder (virus/disease) thanks to the chip nanites that altered his neural cortex, that's why he only had so limited time before his demise, and I don't think that he can come back, for 2 reasons, tissue compatibility and the fact that he got merged into the blackwall A.I (alt cunninghan)

But on one ending where V accepted the deal with the Arasaka, they will bring him back, atleast that's what the deal is :
"I submit to you, you took my , store it, and when you find a way to stabilize with non relative body, you bring me back"
Other than that i see no point to why the Arasaka kept Saburo data, it's not like they had a genius evil plan to take over Yoribuno body. He just lost the faction war and gave up his life.

Literally everyone in the game is happier when they leave the city. Judy even says this in one of her endings where she leaves. The real enemy was night city all along.
However depressing this ending is it's the strongest most developed choice V could ever make, he knew he should've died long ago, while not entirely dead being an AI he let Johnny have a chance at redemption from his selfish mistakes. It's the most selfless charitable sacrifice V could ever make, going out in a blaze of glory rather than a slow dementia over 6 months.
"I'm wiser now. And I don't plan to waste it, so this is goodbye" -Johnny
Exactly, and it lets Johnny live out a now more mature life.

Johnny knows he’s been dead for 50 years and thinks it should remain that way, he thinks it’s not fair for him to just come back to life after so long and steal somebody’s life, especially V’s after seeing all the loved one she/he has and all she/he and him have been through

I like this ending, a lot. V knew he was past his time and that he should already be dead, he gave Johnny his body to give him a second chance at life. Johnny can become a better and happier person and maybe the rest can learn of V’s sacrifice and Panam can learn to forgive Johnny. I hope they continue this plot in dlc!
I mean Johnny’s time had also past so I think this ending and the normad is the morally better ones.
I'm betting they r gonna make a dlc that happens in the middle of the game. One that doesn't affect the main story. The story has too many endings to follow up to.

Yeah. I think it's not right to expect and demand a happy ending. Good Tech Noir like the Terminator and Blade Runner dont have happy endings and I think it's good that cyberpunk really captures that essence. That essence that the world is a scary place with no easy truths.
Not sure about a DLC but it's going to be crazy thinking about this in the next cyberpunk game ( IF there is one) , that Johny and V are both out there somewhere.
Johnny had his time; and he got his closure on him if he blew it or not. When Johnny get's V's body he's given a second chance, but he doesn't grant closure to V's friends, he just ghosts them leaving them wondering. This is a terrible ending (for myself) and a prick move for Johnny. I'd argue that Nomad and suicide were better options because at least V's family got closure, they know what happened to V, but with Johnny...they're left on mute, always wondering what happened.

This Reaper ending is actually the golden ending as far as the game has. Nobody dies (except V, but he was doomed anyway) and V becomes a legend.

What about the suicide ending ? Listening to all your friends holotapes was gut wrenching
The suicide ending is far worse hitting, and I think perhaps the most gut wrenching and appropriate for the genre, but this one is pretty rough too. Devil ending is perhaps the second worse one after suicide though due to selling your soul for naught and the world getting screwed by Arasaka afterwards.
The Johnny ending is sick but it’s also depressing because even though he acknowledges he’s become a better person he realizes what it cost him, he thought that his plan would let him save V and it didn’t, and he ended up losing rogue, Johnny has become a better man but at a huge personal cost
He’s lost a lot. So he will always be sad but that doesn’t mean he isn’t gonna live a good life. He’s like a person who learns to live happily with trauma. He’s always going to remember V and the sacrifice in a new world he barely recognizes. But he’s gonna try his best to help people and give direction and dreams to people like Steve.
If you do the "don't fear the reaper" ending rogue's alive and VERY mad at Johnny, "Never come to night city again" were her last words to him.

Also, it's sad that Panem is the only person that knows about Johnny taking V's body. Nobody really knows except her. (Also Misty because she sensed something unpleasant that happened with V, but is uncertain.)

I'm not so sure V is really gone with this ending especially if they were a Netrunner. They could always end up trying to breach the Blackwall and uploading themselves into another Relic chip and slot it into a clone body (which Biotechnics has created before and uploaded a mind into) to make a return at some point.
More probable thing would be that V became an AI like Alt @@futuza
It’s a hard decision between the Panam ending and this ending. Your going to die in 6 months but spend the your time with your lover Pam. But when you let Johnny have your body he won’t die so your basically saving a life besides from both of you dying. It’s a hard decision but I bet death would be better than becoming apart of A.I so panam ending has to be the best

I mean the issue is that johnny is basically defeated, no longer a rocker boy. He's seen the affects his music has made and it hasn't done anything to bring down what he despises. Its that whole live a full life and die at 30 or a boring life and live until 90. If restoring a full life worth more to you this may be the best ending.
I dunno. Johnny has already had his chance at a life. He's been around much longer. Even before he "died" he was older than you are currently and he knows this which is why he's so hesitant. As his friend he wants you to live YOUR life. And he knows about you and Panam (If you chose that option). If you do decide to go with Panam he even smiles and says to never quit fighting. There's also the fact that Panam mentions supposed contacts that might be able to help meaning it's possible they find a solution to the 6 months deal. Though if you do go with her it's not clear whether or not the solution actually came through. Misty does mention she took a tarot and it was a very good outcome. Something about lovers chariot and a good life so it's possible they did find a solution. Anyways, long enough message as is but I choose to believe they did indeed find a solution. Lol.

@@maxluong2 Arasaka isn't all knowing though. Neither is Alt. As evidenced by the fact that she didn't even know the 6 month deal would happen. Arasaka couldn't even prevent their own downfall. In a world of such advanced cybernetics there are lots of people who have different understandings of it. So it's entirely possible somebody out there may know of a solution for V. If not be able to come up with one. Besides, giving up is quitters talk. And Panam would not approve of that quitters talk. Lol.

Can’t blame her. The dude she loved had his body stolen, and the person living it just never talked to her and left. She has no way of knowing that V willingly gave the body up, and from her point of view Johnny killed V

Since I was a kid, beautiful and sad endings always made me cry. This shit brought me to tears, every fuckin ending. Thank you so much Cyberpunk, for bringing a nerdy sci-fi beauty to our world in these times. We needed a new story, a unique one, one that we could bond with the characters like we did growing up. Inspiried by them, raised by them....thank you

Actually if you play as female V and max romance Judy that's basically the happiest message out of all of them. She's just chilling and making voice recording while flirting. I think that's the happiest one for sure cause nobody was that much on cloud 9

Oh buddy I feel you so badly... It's like.. no matter what you do, you gonna die anyways. Pointless is the best word to describe it tbh. I was thinking the same after I heard V had no matter what only 6 months left. He fought for so much, and then this?? Of course I could've given Johnny the lead but... V is such a precious baby in the game, I couldn't bring it over my heart. Every ending is depressing af. But it's the first game in years which made me feel things and let my shed a few tears. Loved it.

A bittersweet ending, probably the best one in reality. The Story is actually about Johnny Silverhand... not V if you really look at it. Johnny is a rebel, he rages against the biggest corp because he perceives it as the ultimate sellout of humanity, a true evil, while at the same time not understanding all the little people that actually make up a company, the fathers, sons, brothers and sisters. In the end he has matured as a person, he realizes the world is much larger then "night city" and you don't have to stay in one place (there is a good life lesson here) just move on, leave the drama and nonsense behind, become a new you.
I could definitely see this as the best ending. It makes sense to give Johnny the body as a thank you. The reason I didn't is because I had Panam and people died to help save V not Johnny.

@@marquel5018 That's what I felt too... like, if you watched this game as a Movie... in the end Johnny Silverhand would be the one to walk away, not V, because V is the vehicle, while Johnny is the star. I mean V has no real characteristics, no real personality, hes an "everyman" its why its so easy to play as V. Johnny S. however is a character with personality, thoughts, goals, and progression. In story telling you always go with the best story possible and that's Johnny's.

I have a strong feeling that this is the "canon" ending, because it is a constant variable, no matter who you choose to call before belly of the beast, inside Mikoshi you can always give your body to Johnny. That being said this is assuming that there is a "Canon" ending, which only CDPR knows.
I think this is also quite poetic, V realizes that there's no escaping his worst fears and decides to give johnny a second chance. Sometimes in life we end up causing our own worst fears trying to prevent them.
Man this ending hits hard but its definitely the best imo. It does feel very
mass effect -ish though but I think the point of it is that sometimes you just have to face the music and realize that some things are just out of our hands.

@Nabeel Akhtar V can't give his body to Johnny in the Arasaka/The Devil ending.
To me the other ending where V survives also feels like canon. V becomes what he wanted to become. Johnny does everything he wanted to do in his life. He loses rogue , does his last gig with his friends and takes his vengeance on Adam smasher and Arasaka. Johnny has nothing to live for anymore and would be fine if he sacrificed himself. He also cares for v so it made sense.
Unfortunately for V he didn’t get to live longer so he went out with a bang. But his life had ended when dexter deshawn shot him in the head.
3 moments here that are just...soo heartfelt and shows true friendship...
1) V sacrifices himself for Johnny
2) when johnny says "Im just scared for you"
And 3.....when V puts his hand out, johnny takes a sec and holds his hand like a homie saying goodbye, but whe V turns...Johnny pulls him back in...like "I am sorry man...I wish it didnt have to be this way...I love you brother.....take care and asee you on the other side"...but in silence...wow....powerful moments here
Morality: Game wanted to show us how good guy v will become terrorist Johnny, how johny will take control of his body and mind, but actually johny became v , he is not punk-terrorist no more.

V is not a good guy. Johnny is closer to being "a good guy". Even though his actions are... well, stupid, in some cases, he things his doing good for everyone, and he wants to destroy Arasaka. The same with Yorinobu, but honestly... Yorinobu IS the good guy. V has killed hundreds, if not thousands of people, some good, some bad. V helps innocent people... sometimes... and then does a lotta evil things... Yeah, Johnny is more of a good guy than V is. Giving him another chance to live a life like a truly good person... I think he deserves it. V deserves a better life, but if I'd have to choose between killing Silverhand or killing V... I'd kill V.

@@Connor-is3kl complete panam's romance sidequest. Reply to her messages, answer her calls to be on the safe side. And after you meet hanako at embers, you go to vik's. When you take the pills and the gun to the balcony, you talk to misty. Then you'll talk to Johnny on said balcony. Then he'll ask you what you wanna do, and you'll have the option to call panam. When you call her, you need to say "there's something I gotta do today". Ask panam for help, then take the omega blockers. Then you'll trigger a different ending mission, where you fight through arasaka tower with the aldecaldos. Then after you kill Adam smasher in that mission, you go into mikoshi, talk to johnny, then talk to alt. To trigger the ending you'll need to tell alt "I wanna live out whatever life I've got left." That's how you get the ending.

@Geralt there's no good ending, johnny deserved a second chance in life and is grateful about it, V was going to die anyways... he/she becomes a part of alt in this ending which in some way keeps him alive and safe, if I'm not mistaken alt is some sort of hivemind so V's personality will remain as a part of alt
@@ajxx9987 there is definitely a good ending which is the panam one. At the end the nomad clan talk about contacts that could possibly cure V of what he has giving him hope.
I think the worst part of this to me, is the fact that Johnny has to live with the fact that V sacrifices it all for him in the end. Knowing that and having to live in V’s body, see V’s face every time you look in the mirror, hear V’s voice every time he speaks.... that has to kill Johnny inside after all they went through together
18:30 made me cry thinking Johnny gave up smoking for V and for his health
It was made even better for me, since I made V cave and let him have one at a certain point for his sake, but only the one, second time he tried it I didn't let him, for both their sakes. Then he goes and does that to make it look like he got the message, hits harder.
Johnny’s development throughout the game is fantastic, this and Panam endings are my favorite

This ending is both bittersweet and my favourite. The way I interpret it is that Johnny is going to find a new purpose in life, a new life that V gave him. (In my playthrough at least.) And what makes it sadder is when he said I haven't forgotten a thing. Never will. To me, this means he'll never forget V's sacrifice for him, and how he lost a good friend. But that's my interpretation, I'm sure there are many others out there.
Johnny can always find a way to create another body for V. Cloning should be possible in the future.

This was a really beautifull game. And the background music in the sad parts really made it better. #1 sad ending is where we off ourselves. And hearing everyone hurting in the ending credits just hit the spot and this is the #2 sadest ending cause when you see V flipped upside down and gone it just hits hard to and the ending credits to man... but my fav ending was with panem that was a great one.
I love how Misty's cards gives her a sign that something has happened but she's unsure what. For V to up and leave town (again) and put those he cared on the back burner seemed strange from their perspective, but she had an odd feeling based on the drawing. As for Panam, she knew and won't let it settle. Rogue, while she had admiration for V, judging off of this ending. I wonder if she knew Johnny was given for control in the little time left?
Man I had this exact same situation but I was playing as Johnny. It was so hard to watch v have his freakout from another perspective, just sitting with his face in his hands. And he tried to beat me up when I tried to give him his body back. So I just let him go into cyberspace and let Johnny have the body.

Personally, the best ending. Not happy but best. Endings don't have to be happy to be good and this one is still hopefull because Panam wants to rescue back V and Jonny wants to V be back too. V didn't really die, he is in the cyberspace. Jonny and Panam have to find him and bring back somehow. I hope so it will be a DLC with that stuff.
In this ending V probably merged with alt so it would be very hard or down right impossible to get him back
@@musio3438 I don't see why Alt wouldn't be willing to allow him to return out of all people. It's only because of him that she was able to destroy Mikoshi and absorb all the other AI anyways. They technically just need to find him a body. I could also potentially see V living in the Legend ending considering all the mystery around Mr.BlueEyes and Crystal Palace.
The best ending is with Panam
I got emotional when Johnny tries to stop V from sacrificing himself and starts throwing insults at him and get him to stop. It really showed Johnny drop the cool guy act and showed how scared he was for V and the care he really had for him. This was my favorite ending, it shows the heroic yet humble nature of V in my play through and Johnny got a chance to be a changed man and live selflessly the way V “died”.
Here's why I choose this ending. V and Johnny worked together to and grew together. Johnny at the start was a mad man, a dangerous psycho. Sure he was aimed at the right people. But Johnny was NOT a good guy. But, here at the end of the line V knew that the world still needed a hero. It needed someone who would fight and fight and fight. He knew this was bigger than himself, bigger than anything. It was the best option. Johnny had grown into the hero the world needed. And giving that hero a chance to live, a chance to help was the best thing V could do for the world.
Good thinking except for the fact that Johnny is literally done with that kind of stuff in this ending. He realized that it didn't worth all the sacrifices and bloodshed. Johnny in this ending decides to live a quiet life hence is why he leaves everything behind. 14:46 is an example of that.
lol the exact opposite happens here, Johnny learns to walk away and find something worth living for not dying for, he straight peaces out and bails on NC

For me, this was the most emotionally potent and satisfying ending for the game. Not only is it fulfilling for both V and Johnny's characters, but it really just feels like a true canonised ending - especially with that amazing last line.

I like how Johnny shows his character development and the impact V had on him, with Johnny using his second chance at life not to continue the grand ambitions he started, but to live like a normal person, to help teach others, to really appreciate the incredible gift V gave him. The guy who once nuked a megacorp's HQ to try and kick off a revolution against megacorps now comes to accept the world he lives in and just tries to help people out in little but touching ways. Really shows how people can grow and change so long as they're willing to open themselves to the world around them.
Steve, the at-risk youth. He'll continue V's and Johnny's fight. A bit of daddy issues, substance abuse, and a corpo-war means that he'll one day pick up the Rocker Boy Movement, and the fight for Night City's soul will continue. For these two old souls....

1:15 man I can't, I don't know how CDPR are able to get me so much emotionally. This just felt like stabbing a friend. I know life is unfair, but I wished there was an ending where johny gets a body somehow, and is just your pal, your friend, and you both make it.

After seeing all the ending, i feel like this or the suicide ending one is canon... it just feels right, it makes sense that Johnny was gifted this body by V a curse and a gift...the journey changed Johnny it's not only V's journey it's his too as he and V have a part of their soul bind to each other.
Choom you talking crazy right now. Johnny not taking the body and telling V to keep on fighting was him finally getting to sign off on his own terms, last time he got his soul sucked out. This time he's gonna go giving his brother/sister a chance at life. I say the best ending was Aldecaldos. Seemed darn right hopeful, like there was a good chance they would find a way to save V. Also none of the other endings allow you to ride off into the sunset in a tank.

That's the point, remember what T-Bug said, "The greatest crime is done whilst pursuing what you don't need"(I played in localized game, not exactly the same phrasing, but the point stays the same). That's such a mature and grown up ending, where you save Johnny, both died because of theirs desires, and the only survivor learns from it, and lives his life in peace, leaving the ambitions and past behind.

Honestly for me I feel like this is the best ending to Cyberpunk. V and Rogue may have died but at the same time Johnny now has a second chance, and the teen boy scene with him felt like it gave a sense of hope seeing that he may become famous one day. Felt like the perfect conclusion because it felt like you were saying your final goodbyes to everyone in the game before Johnny then leaves night city and everything behind. It felt very sad and beautiful and almost made me tear up.
I love how half the endings involve you leaving Night city while the other 2 you kind of stay.
Leaving it all behind is a really powerful message.
This is such a cliffhanger ending, if they ever get to make a sequel I would like it to be about this one.

The last time I was so immersed in a game world and it's characters was when I played Mass Effect and that one is still considered as the best game I've ever played. Cyberpunk came pretty close. I did three playthroughs so far and I could easily do another 10, that's how good the story is.
@@R4Y2k to be honest as a huge Mass Effect fan I prefer Cyberpunk though keep in mind I also prefer Dragon Age, partly because I read the books but mostly because Dragon Age origins lore, characters and story made me fall in love and no DA has been quite as good since though still good. Regardless of your personal favourite you’re right. These are the sort of games that draw you in and make you sometimes forget that the characters are characters at all. Gaming is my favourite medium as let’s you tell stories like this, interacting and forming different types of relationships with characters that you can’t do the same way in most mediums.

I knew I could just load a save and correct my mistake but then I thought to myself "But what if I couldn't? What if I'm to make a decision irl someday, and it gets somebody killed who's dear to me - or anybody at all?" and that was when it hit me; Games make true on the premise to "show you who you really are - or who you could be" - if you allow it, that is.

For me personally, this was the best ending to any video game I've ever played. For comparison this affected me more than The Last of Us (1 and 2), RDR (1 and 2), Spiderman (2018), God of War, Hellblade, SOMA, Bioshock: Infinite, and Halo: Reach.
I think it hit so hard because I never played a game where I could imprint so much of my own ego into the protag through gameplay and relationship building. Everyone felt real. Consequences revealed themselves through plot or through nuances in conversation. Couple this with the dripping sense of immersion (mileage may vary) and it morphed this game into a 2nd life simulator. CDPR left enough ambiguity in V's life to where I can simply fill those "holes" with my own ideas of who he was. Little did I know, this was actually a very subtle way of me imprinting "myself" into those voids.
Where other games asked us to walk 1,000 miles in the shoes of a character you come to understand over time, this game asks me to walk in the shoes of...myself. Like a muted third engram within V's psyche. Carrying the same tools I use in everyday life.
Crossing that bridge with Alt created an experience only describable as an ego death. Through my own agency I chose for myself, "V", to sacrifice my life for Johnny to have another chance at life. And the twisted part that drove me to a deep pit of sadness and guilt? I did it because I promised Johnny I would at the Pistus Sophia. That promise was not from my heart. It was a promise made because I didn't want to disappoint him.
Seeing the messages Panam, Judy, Jackie's mom, and everyone else felt like chewing glass. Johnny's sense of guilt from V's sacrifice dripped from my screen. Seeing V's grave hollowed my soul. Despite this the most beautiful, yet bittersweet moment was just before Johnny got on the bus. Talking to Steve.
"When my grandpa died, I missed him a lot. Now I only miss him sometimes".
This video game was the first time I faced my own ego. The first time I really thought about what my own death will be. And how the world will carry on regardless of what I do. Without this game, I wouldn't have taken the deeper interest of philosophy that I have now. And I definitely wouldn't have become more aware of the liberating yet sobering nature of death.

The choices you make in this game's story line feel deep. The emo energy is strong with this one. I wish more games were made like this, with different paths and outcomes.

That scene at 1:28 is the highlight of this ending. Johnny is actually crying. He’s scared for what fate awaits V in the AI afterlife and scared that he’s going to possibly lose the one friend who is the closest he has had.
