Lara was facing hard times , both on the personal (health, love betrayal and breakup) and professional (her progress blocked in the US by her own record company) sides.
Her fanbase knew most of it and wanted to show support and they used this song, one of her biggest hits in France, replacing the title” Je t’aime / I love you” by “On t’aime / We love you”.
I love how Lara, after the initial surprise, establishes a beautiful dialog with the crowd, giving them room to sing with her.
It shows how benevolent and humble she is.
The song itself is a gem, it was as I said one of her songs that reached the top 10 in France charts. But it even grew bigger after it and has become now a french classic, her most iconic french song. It is still attracting a lot of covers from the young french and canadian vocalists generation (Amir, Jeck, …). Most frenchmen know the song by heart.
PrussianSurprisingly, it was also a massive success in russia and eastern europe: she became a superstar there thanks to it (and 15 years before her lengthy collaboration with Igor Krutoy that extended this even further) and the song is a MUST in Russian karaoke and a recurrent in russian singer contests.
Again many covers of this songs from eastern europe talents: Polina Gagarina, Sevara Nazarkhan, Katerina Maslova, Natalia Tsarikova, …
As always with her biggest hits, Lara has performed it in many different ways:
    • Intense and powerful at World Music Awards 1999,
    • Subtle and delicate in her En Toute Intimité 2003 tour.
    • Classy and moving, performing with 2 vertebrae broken, at Royal Albert Hall in London (2011)
    • Jazzy in a recent perf (2018) with a band from Quebec
The lyrics are also mesmerizing. Despite the title, it is not a classic love song but a breakup song instead.
“Je t’aime” was written by Lara Fabian and Rick Allison, her longtime music producer and composer. He also had been her boyfriend for a few years, at the start of her career. This song was written when their love evolved to a friendship and a professional relationship . It speaks about a couple splitting while still having a lot of sentiments one for the other.

The comment I looked for. 😊😉
Hi Éric, the most committed and unconditional fan I know.
The day I don't see your comment under a Lara video, then I'll be apprehensive.
      Long life to you.

Her fans are important to Lara, often before the concert she spends time with them who have been waiting for hours (Lara has no bodyguard 😁). In the difficult moments of her life she has always said that the support to move forward has always come from her fans. She calls them "my angels". 👍

Spot on Grant! Lara didn't want to stop them but didn't want to rob them of her performance, so she interjected her own voice and basically, she and the audience wrapped their arms around each other. Lara is one of the most beautiful people inside and out on the planet. Her magnetism just draws you in.

She is massive in many countries, she was prevented to succeed in the US, but she is a star elsewhere.
But yes she is humble, smart, deep, funny, benevolent and spiritual, her fans love her as a human being, not only as a vocalist or artist.
She is also the most requested vocal coach in France or Quebec, and is very creative in her abilities to unlock the vocal and interpretation potential of young talents.

It is very touching, the love shared is so beautiful! It's especially powerful bc this song was a HUGE hit in France. It played everywhere all the time so Lara also drew negative attention from the mainstream media which can be quite snobby. She was made fun of as a screaming doll, the song was low-brow, etc. I even remember a TV sketch of someone dressed as Lara barely beginning the song and getting slapped as the punchline.
Lara endured a lot of ridicule and criticism and it really got her down. So this is her audience showing up, saying that we are here, we love the music, it is for us and not them. I heard her say in an interview that it really brought things into perspective for her, it showed her what truly matters. A lesson we can all pick up on decades later as we watch this stunning and unique moment in music history.

    ...Pride versus Humility...

    The last will be first...
What a beautiful person she is. She's my personal Queen...singer, performer and composer of so many songs. Discover more!
Please do some more research and listen to some interesting interviews to discover the pure "richness" of her life. Oh, man, the ugly face of the music industry of in particular the West!
The first tuning in to your channel and I was very sceptical but whatever negative thoughts I must've had disappeared and I got to like and agree with your take on everything. Thanks again also for your boldness in saying the things you did. I love it. Gregory.

@@THEREALONE52I was wondering why you, being a great commenter, had so little subscribers and now I know: you don't swalow bs and you can tell the difference between a real artist and an egomaniac who is in the bizz just to show off and to earn a lot of money! I guess that some fan bases of some singers get offended! Stay true to yourself and your ideas! That's what Lara does and probably that's why she isn't more well known in the USA! I ask you to listen to "No Big Deal", so you can listen to the lyrics! She says "I never sold my soul" and she calls american music industry "egoland" because of what they wanted her to do for her forth album and, because she didn't want that, they didn't linger her contract deal. I'm a big fan of hers since 2001. My favorite albums are: "Lara Fabian" (1998, in English, because her first album was called the same, but it was in French and the songs are different from those), "Madame Zhivago" (in English, French, Italian, Spanish and Russian), "Nue" (in French) and "9" (in French). 😊

@@vervideosgiros1156You forget at least 3 of her concerts, like "pure", "from Lara with love" and "en toute intimite". Anyway her most crucial one was this ("Nou" Paris2001) because the incredible love she received from her fans saved her from the suicidal thoughts she had after her personal and professional nightmare in USA with her career in US blocked by Celine Dion's team in Sony Music, her own music company(!!). This is the reason she is almost unknown in USA from 1990 until today but because she is a beautiful soul she never mentioned it in the media

    It's my silence
    And my impatience
    My greatest secret
    And when it comes
    Like a dance of shadows
    I'm the one who knows,
    It's all the fire
    Hidden before my eyes
    Tinged with violet,
    Glides under my hands
    Her divine body
    And me for discreet.
At the hour when the winds lower their sails
The waves of my skin suddenly go wild
It is the blood that carries my body to my heart
All the love that splits the immense waves of my errors
Everything, everything that vibrates intensely and hourly
    It's the moon, enchanting mystery.
    Two stars in motion
    become shooting stars
    In a single glance
    Floating like an island
    Bearers of romance
    A little love later
    Step by step
    Became my evening
    of my fears,
    Like a knight
    He tamed
    The weeping dragon.
A time or a space in this bond frees me
I finally let go of the soul and the ground
It is the blood that carries my body to my heart
All the love that splits the immense waves of my mistakes
Everything, everything that vibrates intensely and hourly
    is the moon, enchanting mystery.
I call on the warriors of the sky with carriers of burning light
I call upon my immortal, elevated essential need
A love that splits the immense waves of my errors
Everything, everything that vibrates intensely and hourly
It's the moon, enchanting mystery (x3)
    It's my silence
    And my impatience
    My greatest secret

    Bad translation :
"Je vais crier" = "I’m going to yell"

    • @busygin
      @busygin 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

To cry in English also has the meaning to yell. It was used quite a lot by Tolkien. Also, in the stock brokers slang, an "outcry" is an order made on the trading floor (as opposed to being entered on a computer system). Back in the days, trading floors were extremely noisy places, so yelling was necessary 😀
