El Salvador was one of the coolest countries I’ve ever visited. I’ll never forget the papusas for the free breakfast at my hotel. I want to go back already

We escaped after that and went to the mountains for some cooler days. Now we are in Suchitoto which is a quaint little town they call “Little Antigua” or is quite charming here. ~ Eric

The saltwater pool is actually free any day of the week, I was there and that’s a private beach you can even get fresh food cooked for u down the walk on the beach but just don’t be in a rush waiting on ur food
So we went once and it was free, but the second time it wasn't. So not sure about the free hours. Regardless it was a really nice experience. Even though we're in Colombia now, we have great memories of El Salvador! ~ Eric

From my experience doing solo travel in and around El Salvador, the "trouble" that is talked about? Sure, it's there alright, but unless you are actively looking for it or doing something stupid, you will probably be alright. The most dangerous thing Ive seen i that country so far is the traffic.

Never live in fear. Great advice on the people to take advice from. El Salvador is on our agenda as a fly out next year and again in 2027 on our own RTW drive. We just got started building our channel before hitting the road full-time in a couple years. I first went to El Salvador back in the early 1980’s during the war, in fact I was there when the peace treaty was signed. I have been back and forth every since. I have lots of friends and spend most of my time in San Miguel. I have never had any problem in El Salvador.

Saying 'Bitcoin' is giving free surfing lessons is like saying the 'Dollar' is giving free surfing lessons. Bitcoin isn't a company or organisation. It is a type of money. Someone is kindly donating their Bitcoin to provide this! Would be nice to give whoever that is credit for their generosity :)
I get what you are saying Dan. I don't make up the names. Bitcoin Beach is what it is officially called, and all of the instructors and event organizers were wearing hats and shirts with that name on them. The locals said that the community effort was done by Bitcoin, so apparently they don't know either. I'm not into crypto and have no current interest in it. I also have no idea who is behind the event, and they apparently don't want people to know? Not sure. But it was super cool, and the looks on the kids faces was evidence of that. I'd love to give them a shout out if I could, but I'm pretty far south of them now in Costa Rica. ~ Eric

Americans label other countries as being super dangerous, yet in the USA there are mass shootings every week and police killing innocent unarmed people, etc...El Salvador is a beautiful paradise where nobody will mess with tourists. The Salvadoran people are friendly and the food is cheap and delicious. There is a street gang problem happening, but they don't target tourists, they kill each other just like in every country where gangs are a social problem, for example the USA.
Gladys, I understand what you are saying, but it wasn't a statement, it was a question. And if you actually watch our video you'll hear our answer right near the beginning of the video. There is danger all over the world. My home country of the USA is no exception. Historically, El Salvador has had periods where it wasn't a good idea for foreign tourists to visit. Denying this would be unfair. But I'm happy to say we had a wonderful time in El Salvador and never once felt unsafe while there. ~ Eric
