This year is the year I tackle all the Fantasy authors who I've been too intimidated by to read before --- Sanderson, Hobb, Gwynne, and Abercrombie to name a few! I'm anticipating an amazing and emotionally damaging reading year 😂
This is also my goal! Last year I did a 52 book category challenge (and was finishing grad school) which kept me away from big fantasy series, so I’m excited to dig in!! 🐉 ⚔️
All my favorite authors are publishing books this year and I’m both excited and overwhelmed! My 2025 releases TBR is at 52, and my physical TBR I own is at 47…wish me luck 😭
In 2024 i actually finally read all the physical books i owned (it was a journey lol), other than books I had pre-ordered. I told myself that, other than those preorders, i wasn't going to buy more physical books until I had made a dent in my kindle tbr. But that didn't happen, so now i have 27 physical books to read, and 30 kindle, plus preorders that come out in 2025. So, they are all my priorities, but i want to knockout the nonfiction books on my kindle (most on Japan), Chinese danmei (which come out throughout the year) finish the Kushiel's Legacy books, finally read the Ember and the Ashes series, Will of the Many (I have read a lot of epic fantasy over the years),, and just knockout my physical and hopefully a good portion of my kindle tbr!
For Malazan, highly recommend finding kindred spirits to be able to discuss the series with as you read the series. A lot of the benefit of the series comes from discussing themes, characters, scenes, with others and creating a shared experience. As for each book in the series....it's all connected. They all converge (if you will). :)
I would love an updated sci fi recommendation vid! it seems you’ve read a handful more this past year and I was love to see your new recs if they have changed :)
@itziarsagastiberri2017 My favorite series is The Others, by Anne Bishop. I re read that series when Im feeling down, if I am in a reading slump, etc. I wish I could read that series for the first time.
In addition to what's already been mentioned, I'd rec Kim Harrison's Hollows series starting with A Fistful Of Charms. It is complete and the plot becomes increasingly large and epic as more beings are encountered.
Happy New Year! My TBR this year: The Mistborn series by Sanderson and Children of Time series by Tchaikovsky. I hope you have a wonderful reading year!
I love that you and clay are reading together! My boyfriend and I are always reading a book together and we’ve tackled the elderling world (fave ever), at your recommendation the age of legend and the Hadrian/Royce series (they do get better and better!) and now we are working on Mistborn.
absolutely cannot wait to hear your thoughts on Malazan! I manage about one a year 😂 they are DENSE but I’ve loved them so far! Also highly highly recommend audio, the narrator is fantastic!
Great list! I want to try Malazan at some point, but it feels intimidating! I am in the middle of Realm of the Elderlings, so I don't think I will give it a go until after Hobb. My next planned read is Blood Over Bright Haven, and the next Wayward Children book by Seanan McGuire. Happy New Year!
Two years ago in college I took a lit class all about Ishiguro and Atwood! Best class I ever took. Ishiguro is an amazing author. Klara and the Sun is great but my favorite of his is the remains of the day. The plot may sound a little dull but dang that book packs a big punch. IMO that book is Ishiguro doing what he does best!
I wasn’t a fan of Annihilation but I hope you love it! This year I’m making a conscious effort to pick up books that fall outside my usual go-to genres so I can try some new things.
The Dreamblood Duology is great! It definitely seems like the kind of thing you would like, and I’m kind of surprised you haven’t read it yet lol. It also follows multiple characters and has lots of kingdom politics. The second book, the Shadowed Sun, is great too, but it is darker (worth looking up trigger warnings if you might need them). It follows different characters (though characters from the first book are still present), and it expands the magic system and world in interesting ways. I got through both very quickly in 2024!
I read Annihilation in 2024, and then proceeded to read the whole Southern Reach Trilogy, and the another Vandermeer. He is now one of my favorite authors and want to read all his books!!!
I read Gardens of the Moon this year because I know the author and I loved it! I will say it took me four attempts over the past two years but once I got into it I thought it was incredible
I really liked Clara and the Sun - The Killing Moon has been on my TBR for a while. I am looking forward to hearing your thoughts on them both. Happy New Year 😊
Yesss !! I'm looking forward to you reading Malazan and Killing Moon since they're favorites of mine ! ❤ Finishing The Fitz and the Fool and The Winnowing Flame are my top priorities. I'll try to get to Abercrombie's stand-alones, The Dandelion Dynasty and The Library Trilogy. 🤞 🎉 Happy New Year, and many happy reads !!
✨️🎉✨️🥳Happy New Year! Last year I tried a Quarterly TBR and it went pretty well. Then fell apart. The books were fine, it was me. But now I'm building another Quarterly TBR 2025. I'm excited to start a mix of high fantasy and non fiction. I'll be zooming in on any Banned Books....I really feel it's going to be critical the next few years.
Happy 2025! If you like Adrian Tchaikovsky's City of Last Chances, I HIGHLY recommend Cage of Souls and Alien Clay by him as sci-fi novels that sort of toe the line between sci-fi and fantasy, and feature a lot of similar themes. Both made my top 10 of the year in which I read them!
Great list, I hope you find some new fantasy series to get hooked by! I also want to read more litfic because I love the genre too but haven’t read a ton of it (would love to read Demon Copperhead in 2025 as well). I love that you and Clay are going to read some books together, how fun! Some books on my priority TBR for 2025 include Wind and Truth, the new Emily Wilde book, Mistborn, Hello Beautiful, My Brilliant Friend, Where The Dark Stands Still, Leviathan Wakes, The Count of Monte Cristo, Blue Sisters, Recursion, The Naturals, and many many more!! 😂
Your TBR list is amazing! I’m especially curious about Malazan, I couldn’t finish it, but I’d love to hear your thoughts. I Hope you have a wonderful reading year ❤ For this new year, I’ve started my own channel 🎶 where I create relaxing BGM beats for my writing (which is more worldbuilding than writing, lol 🌍) and for reading sessions. I’m super excited about it! Can’t wait to see your review of Malazan and the other books on your list. ✨
TBR: house of leaves, lonesome dove, cloud atlas, perks of being a wallflower, stoner, at least 1 stormlight archive book, klara and the sun and Beautyland
PLEASE READ-MIckey7 and On Basilisk Station. Both great sci-fi reads. I also loved the Expanse series and finished it this year too. Mercy of the God's was 5 stars for me! Also I think for fantasy you would like the Green Rider series. I have been watching since you lived in New York! You are my favorite booktuber! 😍 thanks for the videos!!!
Dandelion dynasty!!! If you feel meh about the first one, keep going!!! The first book is kinda more of a prequel to the others and many key players change between books 1 and 2. Love the series so much.
@lauraberkholtz7959 I would really recommend. It was worth the investment, for me. By the last book, I was crying and annotating, desperate for it to not end.
Happy New Year! 🎊 I'm really interested in hearing your thoughts on the Dandelion Dynasty. I loved The Paper Menagerie and I'm interested in the series, but I don't really read epic fantasy, so I'm a bit unsure how I'll feel about them. A Tale for the Time Being has always sounded so good, but also so sad. I might just bite the bullet and read it. I haven't read a Barbara Kingsolver in years, but I remember her books being beautifully written.
Demon Copperfield wasn’t my cup of tea. I do some of that work and I read for escape, not for reading what I work with. I’m starting down my Joe Abercrombie and Brandon Sanderson paths this year!
I would through and through recommend David Copperfield over Demon Copperhead. The latter is a complete mess both narratively and thematically. Not here to trash tastes or books but just my unwarranted opinion 😅

Happy 2025. Im going back to my true bookish love and read a lot of urban fantasies. I can't wait.
📚
do you have any favourites? I love reading fantasy but I haven't read much urban fantasy and I'd like to try 😊
@itziarsagastiberri2017 My favorite series is The Others, by Anne Bishop. I re read that series when Im feeling down, if I am in a reading slump, etc. I wish I could read that series for the first time.
@@itziarsagastiberri2017I recommend Mercy Thompson series by Patricia Briggs, Dresden Files by Jim Butcher, and anything by Ilona Andrews
@ewokallie heck yes, Kate Daniels is goat!!
In addition to what's already been mentioned, I'd rec Kim Harrison's Hollows series starting with A Fistful Of Charms. It is complete and the plot becomes increasingly large and epic as more beings are encountered.
The Mercy of Gods was amazing. I hope you love it as much as I do, I finished it in 4 days from getting it.
An Echo of things to come is on my January tbr and I’m really looking forward to continuing this series!! So excited for you to read it
So excited for you to read Malazan! I’m about to start book 5 and loving it
Happy New Year! My TBR this year: The Mistborn series by Sanderson and Children of Time series by Tchaikovsky. I hope you have a wonderful reading year!

I'm ready to put some work into my TBR this year, getting back into reading after many year break.
I will likely never read any of the books you talk about but I love your channel. You’re so calming and well spoken
So many of these fantasy series I also want to read this year! Happy new year Regan! 🎊

I wasn’t a fan of Annihilation but I hope you love it!
This year I’m making a conscious effort to pick up books that fall outside my usual go-to genres so I can try some new things.
Hopefully, this year will be full of fantasy and SF vs young adult. I'll be able to like a lot more videos. Happy new year Reagan!
My top three of the year I think will be cosmere, hobb, and LOTR! so excited to dive into some beloved reads
A great list! I'm also hoping to read Same Bed, Different Dreams this year
The Dreamblood Duology is great! It definitely seems like the kind of thing you would like, and I’m kind of surprised you haven’t read it yet lol. Wow, annihilation is SO good I hope you love it👀
Ahhh!!!! I’m so early 🤩🤩 Feliz Ano Novo from Portugal, Reagan!!!

A Tale for the Time Being is such a good book!
You need to include the emperor’s blades by Staveley on your TBR ! Hahaha
Whatever you read I wish you a happy reading year!
The Dandelion Dynasty is a series I need to continue, it's a quartet 😊
✨️🎉✨️🥳Happy New Year!

TOP5: The Fifth Season, Demon Copperhead, The Ragpicker King, Intermezzo and
A Witch's Guide to Magical Innkeeping.

Def want to start Malazan and dandelion and suneater soon! Hope I can squeeze one in this year ❤
A tale for the time being is one of my favorite books. Klara and the sun is pretty good too. The annihilation movie was also good.
I also have the Dreamblood duology, and hope to get it read this year.
Happy 2025 !!!
I wanna finish the Murderbot series this year (or better get caught up with the story so far)
Should read The Dresden Files in 2025. The 18th book of the Series has a high chance of coming out this year…
I was hoping you’d have Dandelion Dynasty on here! I’m currently reading this series (on book 3), and I know you’ll love it.

Ahhhh.... ❤ Annihilation so much! Can't wait to hear what you think.
I listened to the audiobook for Annihilation, it was quite good. The narrator did a great job

This year i finally want to read jade city and start the expanse series
I'm starting off the year with Mistborn Era 2!! And then really wanting to finally read Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir.
My bf is not a reader, but he read Annihilation and he LOVED it
Please squeeze “The Whisperwicks” in!
2025 needs to be the year I finally read the Dandelion Dynasty too
Dandelion dynasty!!! If you feel meh about the first one, keep going!!! The first book is kinda more of a prequel to the others and many key players change between books 1 and 2. Love the series so much.
Good to know! I dnf’d the first one. Maybe I’ll try again.
@lauraberkholtz7959 I would really recommend. It was worth the investment, for me. By the last book, I was crying and annotating, desperate for it to not end.
the fact that nobody talks about the book called Manifestation Hacks by Olivia Cooper speaks volumes about how people are stuck in a trance
Where did you get that lamp? 😊 I would love one for my living room.
Last chances is a beautiful book
The tale for the time being destroyed me. I was so sad after reading it. It's a good book but oh man be prepared to not be ok
Demon Copperfield wasn’t my cup of tea. I do some of that work and I read for escape, not for reading what I work with.
I’m starting down my Joe Abercrombie and Brandon Sanderson paths this year!
Reagan, I beg of you, where is that turtleneck from??????
Mexican Gothic, The Nightingale, The Bell Jar, A is for Arsenic, Pachinko.
YAY MORE ABERCROMBIE!!!
I would through and through recommend David Copperfield over Demon Copperhead. The latter is a complete mess both narratively and thematically. Not here to trash tastes or books but just my unwarranted opinion 😅
Isn't she lovely?
❤️📚🐶
It's kinda crazy how nobody's talking about banned eBook "The Gilded Nexus of Prosperity"
Its kind of crazy how many bots are spamming videos with this crap book.
Great book
Aren't Malazan fans still waiting on an ending😂
The series has an ending. One of the best endings out there lol
That's The Name of the Wind, by Patrick Ruthfuss, I think ! 😊
Oh Gaaah, I wouldn't your time with Klara and The Sun. It is one of the absolute worst books ive EVER read.
I recommend everyone to find the book titled The Elite Society's Money Manifestation, It changed my life.
Forget the usual advice and grab book called Guarded Laws of Money Manifestation. It’s completely worth it.
Boo, get out of here with your bot comment and paid likes creep.
