As a shy commentor, I just wanted to chime in at last and tell you how much comfort, value and joy I get from watching your videos! I appreciate you so much, both as in personality, as well as how dedicated and consistent you are as a creator. So excited to follow you into the next year🎉❤ Much love and happy new years!
Wow, thank you so much for saying that! I know sometimes it seems like comments can feel lost online, but you’ve made my morning 😊 Happy New Year’s Eve!
I'll always be forever grateful for discovering Reign & Ruin because of you. I'm just finishing the first book, already have the second one ready. It's so good! I never could really get in into "romantasy" because it's the same enemies to lovers over and over again in different settings but this isn't that and it's brilliant. Really recommend to everyone.
Yeah, Valdamar is great! I read a bunch of those books as a teenager and then recently got sucked back into the world. Some books are better than others, it's true - I'd recommend the story arch/timeline that starts with the Arrows trilogy and branching out from there, but there are many routes into the world! I'm also excited to read Rise of the Ranger, based on your recommendations. I'm hoping it'll fill the "classic epic fantasy" hole that's been growing for me for the last few years.
I'm really interested in continuing the Hierarchy series because I was super underwhelmed by The Will of the Many. I found the main character very Gary Stu and the writing style was very simple (not a dig at the author, but I just expected better prose!) - I'm curious where the story will go, but if it's about 700 pages of "Oh no! Vis gets into shit! But oh look, he's figured a way out with no consequences despite having never done anything remotely like this before in his life!" I'll politely bow out. 😅
I'm so glad i found your channel. As someone who loves fantasy, but doesn't read a ton of YA, it's nice to get different recommendations here on TH-cam and your tastes are really similar to mine. You've given me so many good recs, so thank you for taking the time to make these videos!
Happy New Year, everyone. Now, looking at the book series you were talking about, there's a lot of indirect overlap because I pretty much want to read all those series, but I also pretty much have to start reading them in the first place. So the only one I actually have read into yet would be Amina al-Sirafi , and learning that we might get another part this year already makes me really happy, because I loved the first one so much. Technically, Mercedes Lackey would count as well, because I think I read the Arrows trilogy back in the day, but this has been nearly 40 year ago, and I've pretty much forgotten everything about it. Then there's Bennett, and I absolutely want to read the Leviathan books this year, but here I first want to finish his Foundry series. He's one of my favorite authors though, so I am pretty excited about those books as well. Everything else is on the list, but not really planned out. As far as long-running series go that I already started but want to finish or continue, those include mostly Malazan and Realms of the Elderling and L.E. Modesitt's Recluse saga. As said, I want to finish Bennett's Foundry Saga and also The Final Architecture trilogy by Adrian Tchaikovsky. I want to read up on Tad Williams' Osten Ard saga (like with Mercedes Lackey, I read the first books years ago) and I want to take a deep dive into Sanderson's Cosmere (I have read the first Mistborn trilogy and Elantris, and want to start Stormlight Archive in January). I also want to do a reread of Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time saga, need to finally read the Witcher books. And last but not least, I start Christopher Ruocchio's Suneater saga in January as well, and hope to catch up with it before the last book is released this year. And last but not least, there's Anthony Ryan. I pretty much want to (re-)read everything by him this year, so that's more like author-based, but as I still have to read the Raven's Blade duology which is a direct continuation to the Raven's Shadow saga, I think it still applies to this video's topic.
I just read Alberich's Tale - and really enjoyed it. Hoping you can find some Valdemar books that you enjoy. There are some that are part of the main storyline that it's easier to read in order, but there's a lot that can just be read as standalones/duologies, etc. and don't tie to the big plot. A bunch of these I need to continue as well. Hoping for great reads in 2025!
I’m thinking I should try to read one at least every other month to stay somewhat on top of the series. There are so many 😅 Glad you’ve been enjoying it :)
There are two authors I never hear about that deserve so much love : Kate Elliott (Court of Fives is a great YA even for this old person who doesn’t like YA) and Melissa Erin Jackson who’s currently writing a fantastic urban fantasy (#1 called Unholy Magic, 3 of 5 are out) and is a BIPOC author + writes about great friendships and no cringy love tropes. Both authors have quality writing, great stakes, complex and human relationships - they just don’t market as much ❤
My mental health seriously depends on Alecto the Ninth coming out this year lol, please ms. Tamsyn. I'm gonna read the second Hierarchy but i need the character work to be better because it was very weak in Will of the Many and that is what keeps me going in series. So excited for Amina al-Sirafi, i loved that character so much!!
In 2024 I discovered John Gwynne and Adrian Tchaikovsky, and in 2025 I plan to read their entire works. Having not picked up a book for like 20 years has left me with a lot to catch up on. Thank you for pointing me in the right direction.
Of the books that you mentioned, I'm really looking forward to Faithbreaker the most, but also The Ashfire King, I have the first three books in the Rise of the Ranger series and want to get started this year. In addition, I want to continue on with Days of Shattered Faith by Adrian Tchaikovsky, and start a reread of Memory, Sorrow and Thorn by Tad Williams so that I can continue on into The Last King of Osten Ard series. I also want to continue reading the Suneater and Expanse series. Finally, I really need to read something by Jenn Williams seeing as I own two series by her - The Winnowing Flame trilogy and the Talon duology :)
Also very excited for the new Emily Wilde book and A Drop of Corruption! Definitely planning to finish Stormlight this year, just need to get to Wind and Truth. Planning to also finish some duologies, like the Cerulean Chronicles, Secrets of the Nile, Elements of Cadence, and planning to read Onyx Storm after it comes out. And there are so many more but I’ll start there 😂
I'm so excited for a lot of these same books! A Drop of Corruption and The Strength of the Few are probably my most anticipated books at this time. I'm also excited and nervous about Faithbreaker; I also loved Godkiller and found Sunbringer to just be okay in comparison. I can't believe we're getting another Aminah Al-Sarafi book! I absolutely loved the first one when I read it. I would also love if Alecto the Ninth was released this year, but I'm not getting my hopes up. :( The Locked Tomb series is awesome though.
Going to continue slowly working my way through the Cosmere, finishing up Dandelion Dynasty, and really need to get to the Age of Madness trilogy next year!
This year I finished the Ranger's Apprentice and Brotherband series. They have been my husband's favorites since childhood. I started in 2018, I loved the whole series and the offshoot series of The Early Years and The Royal Ranger.
I plan on reading Nono the Ninth sometime this year. I really enjoyed Gideon and after people were talking about Harrow, I was hesitant to pick it up but I did enjoy it but not as much as Gideon. Also I plan on finally getting to Age of Madness really soon. I don't have a lot of series to catch up on since I don't have to have a lot of series going at a time and some I decided on not continuing. This is the year I try and knock off some of my older TBR books, books that have been on my list since I got back into reading.
Some series I hope to finish and/or continue: Memory, Sorrow, and Thorn by Tad Williams (started To Green Angel Tower, Part 1 and didn't finish it yet) The Farseer Trilogy by Robin Hobb (started Assassin's Quest) The Ellderet Series by E. M. Markoff (The Faceless God, Part 2 is due out next year!) Under the Northern Sky by Leo Carew (started The Wolf) An Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir (finished the first book only) The Church series by Tiya Rayne (the last book came out in November) The Captive's War by James S. A. Corey (bought the first book, haven't read it yet)
I don't think I've gotten to one of your videos this early before! I have a lot of series I need to catch up with, for older series I want to finish the Green Rider series, and for newer series I have no idea if the second book is out in 2025 (I hope so!) but I just read Soul Cage by L R Schulz and I am chomping at the bit for the next one.
I have so many books on my TBR and I'm not the fastest reader lol I have no idea when I'll get to all of them. Doesn't help that some of the series on my list are Cosmere, ASOIAF, Wheel of Time and Malazan haha
Ive only got 4 series I’m actively working on. I’m most excited to finish the Little Thieves series which is completing this year. I have a lottt of series I’m looking to start: Jade City, Stormlight, Gideon (if the last book gets confirmed), Belladonna
I will be starting (and hopefully finish, since I like to binge) in 2025, but as far as continuing, I am right there with you for A Drop of Corruption, Engines of War and Emily Wilde!
I want to finish the cosmere! I’m reading wind and truth right now but haven’t read tress, yumi, or sunlit man yet. Plus there’s isles of the ember dark coming out in 2025
I'm working in finishing up the last 3 novels in Tad Williams the Last King of Ostenard. They often take a month for me to complete, and I read shorter books in between from different genres to prevent burnout. 🎉
You're doing a fantastic job! I need some advice: I have a SafePal wallet with USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (alarm fetch churn bridge exercise tape speak race clerk couch crater letter). What's the best way to send them to Binance?
I LOVED Reign & Ruing but book 2 of the series was a major disappointment. The couple of the second book felt forced and weird, so I stopped reading the saga
Do only I have the bug where the title's a wild mix of a bunch of numbers and letters?
Nope, me too
This is a strong wifi password haha
Me too and it's not the first video it does this
I just tried to find out if it was some computer language but I didn't find anything.
It shouldn’t be like that! It’s just a regular title on my end 😅

Oh yay, that’s great! My friend Jashana (who has her own channel too!) got me to read it :D

I feel similar to you about these, though having only read Gideon thus far, I think perhaps less is a stake for me with Alecto 😆

Love Valdemar - Herald Mage Trilogy is my favorite and also glad she finally gave us the story of the founding:)
One of my 2025 goals is to read intentionally. I plan on continuing 4th wing, Legend Born trilogy and the Palladium Wars.
I'm working in finishing up the last 3 novels in Tad Williams the Last King of Ostenard. They often take a month for me to complete, and I read shorter books in between from different genres to prevent burnout. 🎉
That’s a great approach! I’ve still not read any Williams, but it’s on the never ending TBR 😅
I need to start Emily Wilde!!!
Where do you find the Age of Uprising books on audio? I can only find the second book ;(
I was just searching for anticipated releases!
Your videos fuel my tbr 😂❤
Started RS Ford’s Engines of Empires #1 of THe Age of Uprising and really enjoy it!
I found you on here a couple months ago and I look forward to everything you post now! ❤ I’ve been thinking about starting Gideon the ninth.
Ah, well thank you so much! I’m glad I’m able to make content you enjoy 😄😄😄
Give the great immortal souls a chance, book 4 coming out early 2025..its just awesome
I love valdemar, wish I had more people who'd read the entire universe. It's one of my faves
Have you checked out Curious Tides by Pascale Lacelle? 2nd book Stranger Skies is out now as well. I'm really liking them!
I had the exact same feeling about Sunbringer.
I suggest checking out IN THE VALLEY by Autumn E. Knight. Fantastic read.
You're doing a fantastic job! I need some advice: I have a SafePal wallet with USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (alarm fetch churn bridge exercise tape speak race clerk couch crater letter). What's the best way to send them to Binance?
Have you read War of the Archons by R.S Ford? If so, did you like it as much as the new one?
What about Empires of Dust?
I'm holding out hope that Alecto the Ninth is going to be released in 2025. Until then I'm gonna be coping with fanfics
In the middle of reading amina al sirafi good read so far
Please, *please* reread Gideon the Ninth before reading Harrow the Harrow. Harrow the Ninth is much better if the first book is fresh in your mind.
Hopefully Winds of Winter😭
I LOVED Reign & Ruing but book 2 of the series was a major disappointment. The couple of the second book felt forced and weird, so I stopped reading the saga
HEX ALARM
