Oh my God, I love these guys. I love these guys ever since I was a kid growing up, they were like adopted uncles to us. It was so fun growing up Italian.
Best friends. Put them together and it's like two kids in a candy store. God bless them both. Two superstar's who were born to entertain the world. RIP Dean Martin and Frank Sinatra. We miss you dearly. 🤗
Dino had more talent in his little finger than most stars of today - singer, dancer (yes!), actor, Tonight Show guest, Rat Pack performer, and the essence of cool. The other guy is an OK talent too. I guess Dean, Frank, Bobby Darin, Sammy Davis, Jr., and most other performers of that era are why I think guys just look better in tuxedos. Thanks, Fred. These days I need a reminder of the good ol' days as I remember them.
Stephen Hogan. I surely do miss the variety and other musical shows that were on TV - Dino, Bobby Darin, Nat King Cole, Jimmy Durante, Glen Campbell, Andy Williams, Hollywood Palace, Leonard Bernstein, Tom Jones, Sonny and Cher, and many others. Three generations of my family enjoyed watching these shows that presented standards, pop, rock, country western, and r&b. Now, it is wonderful to have access to TH-cam for yesteryears' music, variety shows, FredFlix videos, and other genres. In addition to the TH-cam platform there are other oldies musical "libraries"; TimeLife/ Rhino/etc. CD's of music anthologies; personal collections of albums, CD's, cassettes, 8 tracks; PBS reunion and original shows; etc. Many current artists can't stay on key, find the right note, modulate their volume to sing at less than 90dB, or sing songs that have a range greater than 4 notes. But, there ARE very talented entertainers that exist now; however, record labels record and agents book what is going to sell NOW and der Bingle's and Mr. C's styles evidently don't bring in enough $$. Here are some current entertainers that I think are pretty talented, but they probably won't replace the artists who made the soundtrack of our lives: Lady Gaga, Bruno Mars, Puddles Pity Party.

Interesting that they had to censor the word "bathroom" in 1965. It was only a few years later, 1971, that we got to hear a toilet flush on TV. Thank you Archie Bunker.
@@cov9290 I have no idea. This was obviously an outtake clip of Frank and Dean trying to make a TV promo. But anything referring to a bathroom was off bounds in the 60's. They must have edited the word out before they released the blooper reel. You saw a toilet tank in 1957, on Leave it to Beaver, but not the seat. I don't think married couples were regularly allowed to be shown in bed together until The Brady Bunch. It's just how sensitive the censors were back then. Remember, Barbara Eden couldn't even show her belly button on I Dream of Jeannie.
Dean's my fave! Frank's great but at times can try to hog the show but Dino lives up to his title that he's the one and only King of Cool!!! He was a dish in looks and humour. How I would of loved to have met him.

Wow, got home from a concert and found this little tidbit. Very nice. These guys were class acts with more talent than all of these twits nowadays put together.

No. They were great artists and didn’t “need” alcohol or drugs to be creative. Even Charlie Parker hated his own drug addiction and discouraged other from getting into it.
@@rmo52 They certainly drank, smoked drugs at times and women at every port - it was what they all did. They were professionals though and knew how to entertain like the back of their hand.
Was Dean-O ever sober when he was on camera? There's a live episode of 30 Rock where Alec Baldwin does an impression of a Dean Martin type character and it's hilarious for those of us who were kids when Dean was hosting his own show and doing the celebrity roasts. I was too young to get it then but it's funnier now that I'm middle age.
He was always sober on camera. He liked to drink, but he took his career seriously and the drunk act was just part of his onscreen persona, always with a drink in his hand.
I've read several biographies of Dean and Frank. Dean said that the alcohol/drunk act was part of the show. On stage it was apple juice. Off stage it was strictly social drinking. Dean said that everyone insisted that he and Frank always have a drink in hand at parties. So they'd walk around with a drink, take a couple of sips and sit it down. Soon another would appear and they'd do the same thing. Very little actual drinking. It is also said that Dean was never a serious drinker until the death of his son Dean Paul in 1987. After that the act became real. Very sad story.
Clay, I've been meaning to get back to you on this. I recall seeing Dean looking a little bleary eyed on camera during his variety show and the Celebrity Roasts. He may not have been drunk but I think he was definitely buzzed...like just a one or maybe a two martini buzz. Any way you slice it, those shows were pretty great.
Frank, acting drunk was Foster Brooks' schtick. Dean was most likely a high functioning boozer. He could have couple, do his show and people loved him as I did when I was about 12-14. He was buzzed and maybe emphasized it but he was definitely buzzed. Please keep in mind, I'm not disparaging him for it, on the contrary, it's part of what made his show so funny and lovable. I know from documentaries I've seen that he was a good family man, devoted to his wife, children and career but he was a drinker too.
Pure gold. Where have you found this? The beginning seems VHS-sourced. Wish it was in better quality, but what a treat. Wish my late friend Michael was still around to watch this. He loved Dean and Frank. I immediately thought of him when I stumbled over the clip two days ago.
