    11:28 I think the last note in the tab is wrong it says the right thumb hole should be covered, but when you play it, you uncover it. Thanks for the tutorial though

    I've been subscribed to you for a long time David, back when you were still using the name DOCOC. I have always enjoyed watching to your videos of you playing the ocarina. I especially liked the Song Of Storms video where as soon as you finished the thunder rumbled.

    Hey David. I appreciate the effort you put into those tutorials, however I am a bit disappointed to see that although your lessons taught us to read sheet music, your tutorials don't show sheet music in the process. Learning songs is great but as someone who plays several instruments, it's the sight reading part that I need to get a good amount of practise in, not looking at tabs (which are only available for a very small number of songs). So it would be amazing if you could show sheets instead of, or in addition to tabs.

    • @DavidErickRamos
      @DavidErickRamos  ปีที่แล้ว +25

      I appreciate the feedback. Because people with sight reading experience tend to have an easier time with learning new songs, I try to make these videos with absolute beginners in mind, which is why I use tabs. However, I do include the sheet music for each of these tutorials on my Patreon page, and there are over 100 songs arranged specifically for ocarina, all written as sheet music ☺️

    Hey there, I recently purchased the Kokiri Ocarina of Time from the website in your description (also the one I believe you used in your song of healing cover), and I wanted to know if there's any way to transcribe 12 hole sheet music to 7? I wish I would've known how limited my options are with the 7 because i really like it. It feels really good for a beginner like me but I just haven't been able to find sheet music for it. I think I will invest in a 12 hole if I stick with this but if you have any resources I could use with the 7 for the time being, it would be greatly appreciated.

    • @DavidErickRamos
      @DavidErickRamos  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey, totally understand the struggle since Songbird is the only maker to come out with 7 hole ocarinas. So it’s basically a modified 6 hole ocarina (or English pendant), but it has the same range as a 12 hole, so any tabs you find for 6 hole ocarina will work. You can also learn to read sheet music using the instructions that came with it as a guide, which can also be used with my “How to
      Play ocarina” series here on TH-cam!

    hey David, I'm trying to learn this song but my ocarina keeps making a whistle note for the high e on the last few notes on the first section. i tried this both on my plastic stl ocarina and my cheap ocarina from amazon. could this be a breathing issue or is it the ocarina?

    • @JDH___
      @JDH___ ปีที่แล้ว

      pro tip for the future, order from STL ocarina. cheapest Zelda one is pretty good but the high notes are iffy, to combat that just kind of say “two” instead of “who” into the ocarina if that makes sense. but if you want the most beautiful notes you should go for the 70 dollar one.

    T_T day 3 learning ocarina and it's frustrating how my sound doesn't come out like yours...i don't understand the tempo ..or how i'm suppose to blow each time i do a different finger position or is it one continuous blow T_T i'm a total noob...and i want to do this song lol how long until I can do it

    • @skadragon
      @skadragon 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Just keep going. Youll see improvement if you keep practicing. You might need to increase pressure depending on the note, but notes that are smoothly connected should be like one breath.

      @@skadragon His Ocarina sound quiet and soft while mine sound like I'm sounding the alarm even with the softest blow.
      I don't get how that works or how to make it softer

    • @skadragon
      @skadragon 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@TheBioshocksnake Do you have a soprano ocarina? Higher notes are just louder. Lower notes are more gentle. Unfortunately, you might just have to get another ocarina.

    Hello what’s that giant looking ocarina at the end there?

  • @thecosplaycrafter8017
    @thecosplaycrafter8017 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I adore the composition of the Lost Woods from OoT/Woods of Mystery from MM, but there is one thing that bothers me: in the OST, there's an oboe that plays the first phrase of section 2, then the ocarina joins it on the harmony in the second phrase. A single-chamber ocarina doesn't have that kind of range.

    • @DavidErickRamos
      @DavidErickRamos  ปีที่แล้ว

      Technically, you are correct, but it would depend on the ocarina you’re using. For that harmony part, I believe the highest note is a G, while the highest note for a 12-hole in C is supposed to be F. However, if you are using a Soprano C, you can use a special fingering to play G as an overtone (sometimes up to A), and with an Alto C, you can use the “overhand technique” to play up to the high C of a double ocarina!

    • @thecosplaycrafter8017
      @thecosplaycrafter8017 ปีที่แล้ว

      @DavidErickRamos How would one do that? Just curious because the Fairy Ocarina and the Ocarina of Time are clearly based on an alto C ocarina.
