Thank you so much for this informational video. My 7 year old daughter is struggling with OCD when it comes to her penmanship and writing, taking her an overwhelming amount of time to finish an assignment. She’s always dealt with this but it seems like it has advanced. This was helpful

I was diagnosed with both ADHD and OCD at the age of 10 years old. Thank you for helping me understand myself and my friends who share my disorders better. I also sent these videos to my parents so they can understand better what I’m going through.

Please advise on therapy .. our son is 5yrs old and we are trying to avoid going the medication route. We have tried psychologists who have advised he is a bit too young as he also shows signs of ADHD and cannot take in what the therapist is trying to achieve.. We will be trying "play therapy" shortly... but would appreciate any advise in terms of medication. If its a good idea or not right now.. we are battling although we have identified it as one of his parents have it and we picked it up early. TIA!

Please head to our Where to get help section on our website, I think it will be helpful for you. We don't offer therapy as our mission is to help raise awareness and help people recognise symptoms so that children & families can get the support they need as soon as possible.

Hi there. I don’t think you will find a psychiatrist in the UK who would medicate at such a young age. It is so unlikely that a 5 year old would have OCD. At that age, it is much more likely to be behavioural, ASD or ADHD. There are no therapies for ASD or ADHD as this cannot be cured, but parenting classes for children with neurodevelopmental disorders should be provided in your area. Speech and language difficulties should also be explored as a communication barrier can cause many different behaviours.
