Home Free are 5 of the most talented and skilled musicians in the musical arena today. Their mastery of the art of a cappella is insane. NO instruments. They are technically country, but can do any genre and absolutely crush it. If you begin the Home Free journey, you will never be disappointed. The jaw harp sound is being done by Adam Chance (Chance), the guy at the back with the orange colored hat who is the baritone/bass with a fine, smoky voice . The first guy to sing is the sky high tenor with a voice strong enough to bend steel, Austin Brown The man with the beard and glasses is Rob Lundquist with the voice as sweet and smooth as caramel with a bit of soul thrown in. The super bass with the 5 octave range is Tim Foust and the world class beat boxer/vocal percussionist is insanely talented and skilled Adam Rupp doing the percussion, and "no-monica.". The Home Fries absolutely adore their Home Free. They are so down to earth and humble they are the kind of guys anyone would have fun hanging out with. Check out their other videos on You Tube (over 250) they are great.

Song originally published on 1913, and made popular in 2000 in the movie.
Chance, back row dark vest, is making the mouthharp sound with his voice.
They have made a slow doowop version of "Unchanged Melody " that is magnificent.
They have several comedy type songs. The most fun is the Butts Remix.

Welcome to the world of Home Free - it's a long deep rabbit hole....but it's a lot of fun !!! They lean country but they do sing all genre's. I highly recommend their latest called *"The Driver"* , it's one of their best, and is a tribute to the truck drivers, and construction workers that keep America running !

I loved your reaction. I just discovered Home Free about a month ago and have happily gone down the rabbit hole. While they are considered “country” they do far more than that. Far more. I’m in my 60’s and was a devoted Doobie Brothers devotee and these guys do a great version (acapella) of Listen to the music. They are truly versatile.

Home Free was founded by the beatboxer and his brother in 2000. The current group has been together since 2016. They usually sing songs with them sharing lead, but if you want see each shine as the lead singer, here's a list. (front row from left to right) Rob Lundquist, Tenor, End of the Road. Austin Brown, High Tenor ,When a Man Loves a Woman. Tim Faust, Bass, Brothers in Arms. (back row from left) Adam Chance, Baritone, Castle on the Hill. And Adam Rupp, Vocal Percussionist, one of his live solo performances. You can't go wrong with these guys.

Welcome to Home Free! Adam Chance ( called Chance) in the background with hat is the one doing the jaw harp sound. Adam Rupp is the talented beatboxer . Austin Brown (first singer) is the high tenor, your lookalike is Rob Lundquist is also a tenor with a soulful voice, and Tim Foust is the bass with a phenomenal range.
They have so many songs that can fit any mood-Happy, patriotic, funny, serious, thoughful. They are considered a “country A cappella band”, but they do not exclusively stick to country.

Home Free is incredible. Everything they do is great. And although they are a Country A-cappela group, they can really sing all genres. They really all have great voices with their own specialties. Even Adam Rupp who started the group with his brother Chris Rupp. Chris left the group in 2016 to go solo but also to start other projects with his sister, among others.
Adam Rupp-Beatboxer but is actually an inhuman freaking good mouth artist.
Tim Foust- Deep bass but also as a tenor and everything in between is possible.
Austin Brown-High tenor with his great runs and high notes.
Rob Lundquist (beard and glasses)-Tenor, with a voice like velvet and so much soul.
Adam Chance (back left, who is called Chance) - Baritone/ Bass, a voice so smooth and sexy. And who here also makes the Jaw harp sound.
There is no lead singer in Home Free. They look at every song whose voice suits it best, the best harmony, no egos, no rivalries, great personalities etc. Besides, they can all beatbox (see their live performance 9to5). ..
This is one of the many covers they do in addition to various originals, and each one is just amazing.
Take the time to discover Home Free because it will be a great tour. For me they are number 1 A-Cappella group
I'm a Home Fry from the Netherlands.

This song blew me away when I first heard it. These guys are all so talented. They lean towards country but they can do any genre. They all can take the lead depending on whos voice is best for the song. They are known for their tight harmonies. Tim Foust is one of the best bass singers out there & their beatboxer vocal percussionist Adam Rupp can simulate any sound. This song is very old & is done in the bluegrass country style. Welcome to the Home Free journey. You will not be disappointed.

  • @serenaeiler7585

Home free does not block their vids, so no need to filter. The beatboxer is one of the founders of the group, and a 2 time world champion. He and Rob Lundquist, the overall’s tenor are from Minnesota.High tenor is Austin Brown, from Georgia. Tim Foust has a multi octave range, very low to high, and the reason they have to bring there own speakers, having blown out so many. He is from Texas. Adam Chance, known as Chance is a baritone/base from Alabama. Always accapela unless instruments are in sight , which is rare. All can, and do, lead vocals depending on the song.

Welcome to our home free world. We the fans are called the home fries. They do everything a capella. The beat boxer is Adam Rupp. There is no one better. Tim Foust is the bass. There are tons of home free songs. They are a country band with a lot of other stuff. The one with the red beard is Austin. He is the most talented high tenor I know. Check out When a man loves a woman. If you want to hear more bass then go to brothers in Arms. Chance and Tim share the lead on that one. I wish you a great time with home free. Soon you will be a home fry too😄

These guys will not disappoint with anything they put out, the group started in the early 2000's, the current group has been together since about 2015. The high tenor is Austin Brown, the guy with the full beard is Rob Lundquist, he's a tenor also, the guy in the lighter colored hat is Adam Chance, he's the newest member and is a baritone with a 4 octave range, the base guy is Tim Foust, base profundo, he has a legit 5 octave range, the guy playing the harmonica is Adam Rupp, he's one of the original founding members. In earlier videos you'll see a different guy instead of Chance, that's Chris Rupp, Adam's brother ( the other founding member), he left to pursue a solo career and help his sister get her music career going. His departure made room for Chance. They use his last name because they already had an Adam. Check out Ring of Fire feat. Avi from Pentatonix, if you want to hear their awesome 5 part harmony listen to Helplessly Hoping (a Crosby, Stills, & Nash cover), if you want to hear more harmonica check out a newer release of Garth Brooks Ain't going down till the sun comes up. Adam will morph from the harmonica to an electric guitar. An absolutely gorgeous cover of How Great Thou Art is another 5 part harmony, also Auld Lang Sign (I know I didn't spell that right) are both amazing. Just get really familiar with the guys and their respective parts before you listen to Mayday. You'll be a Home Fry before this is over.

The mouth harp is being impersonated by Adam Chance using Mongolian Throat singing. There are videos on YT showing how to do throat singing.
Home Free, Pentatonix and VoicePlay were all contestants on a TV "Sing Off" show.
For more bass, check out VoicePlay doing "The Oogie Boogie Song" from Nightmare Before Christmas movie..
Their Bass "Geoff (Jeff) Castellucci, hits unbelievable bass notes!

Both VoicePlay and Home Free (the winner) were on Season 4 of the SingOff; Pentatonix won Season 3. Tim Foust, the bass of Home Free, was singing the lowest bass on that show. He has a 5+ octave range (G0-A5), still the lowest voice of the three groups.

The few times Pentatonix has used actual instruments in their songs, the instrument is upfront and obvious. Usually it is Kevin's cello, a guest performer with her violin and once with a piano. Voice Play has used a violin in their songs once or twice, but Home Free, other than in their solo projects, I don't believe have ever used a musical instrument, unless you want to count Adam who has a whole drum kit in his mouth. Check out Adam's drum solo, live performance in a red flannel shirt, you will be amazed and understand how he won several major beat boxing championships.

I've listened to scores upon scores of reactions to this cover by Home Free. And I've learned 2 shortcuts to the assess the reactors: #1 is how quickly they perceive that there is no harmonica, and you rank among the best there. #2 is whether they see fit to comment on Tim Foust's pitch drop in the chorus after his solo, here you qualify for the stratosphere. I can't be sure how many notice but don't comment on that drop in pitch, but I believe that feature is always worth noting. Congratulations on a terrific reaction. Oh, and check out their cover of "Ain't goin' down 'til the sun comes up". Adam Rupp, he who doesn't need no stinkin' harmonica, is let of the chain and does terrific harmonica solo work.

You are one of the few, who catch Tim's dropping his bass, just after he sang.
But so far, nobody has caught, that Austin (skinny lead singer) pitched a higher note, every time they sing the chorus.

Home Free is the best--period. It's easy to forget they are completely acapella and make all "instrumental" sounds themselves.
In this song they are making a distinct southern (bluegrass) presentation--it definitely fits the lyrics of the song. Austin's twang is legit--he's from southern Georgia. Chance doing the jaw harp sound really sets the stage for this song's story. Tim's bass line completely grounds the harmonies and Adam's voice percussion simply cannot be beat. This performance highlights a lot of Home Free's strengths although they also handle ANY other genre just as amazingly!
Some of my favorites are "Working for a Living", "Land of the Free", "Elvira" (with the Oak Ridge Boys), "Undivided", and "Ain't Goin' Down 'Til the Sun Comes Up" (which is not on YT--it's on their official Facebook page).

Tim Foust did the bass solo but when they all joined in and the bass went even lower, that super low voice was Adam Chance, the one with the vest and hat. I don't think I have EVER heard a reactor give him the credit for doing this. People always assume that because Tim has such a low voice that he dropped it down a notch and made that super low voice as well but that was Adam Chance. He's also the one who makes the didgeridoo or mouth harp sound at the beginning and ending of the song. If you watch carefully, when the song is ending and the beatboxer and the didgeridoo are the only sounds clearly heard, you can see that it is Adam Chance making that sound. The beatboxer is Adam Rupp, and he is credited with being the best beatboxer of any music genre...period!

Welcome to the Home Free rabbit hole.
    From left to right:
(Front row) Rob Lundquist, tenor, AKA The Beard. Soulful voice. Joined Home Free in 2008. From Minnesota.
(Back row) Adam Chance, baritone/bass, AKA Chance. Overtone singing his specialty. Joined 2016. From Alabama.
(Front row) Austin Brown, high tenor, AKA The Flirt. Almost operatic voice, never shrill, great pipes. Joined 2013. From Georgia.
(Back row) Adam Rupp, beatboxer, AKA Freak of Nature. Founder (along with brother Chris) of Home Free in 2000. From Minnesota.
(Front row) Tim Foust, bass, AKA Dragon Breath. Can break sound systems with that intense bass. Has 5 octave range! Joined 2012. From Texas.
Some notes: Older videos (pre spring 2016) will feature Chris Rupp, who left in 2016 to pursue a solo career, and was replaced by Adam Chance.
Tim in any video before July 2020 had long hair, which he'd been coloring to hide the gray. After that, folks hardly recognized him.
The boys range in age from 35 to 40, with Tim being the oldest and Austin the youngest.
They do a lot of covers and quite a bit of their own original music. Their catalog is up to at least 150 songs. Their videos are always great. Some are goofy, some are serious, but they ALWAYS put all their skills and effort into the music. No one is the "lead singer". With the exception of Adam Rupp, everyone gets lead roles depending on the song.
For great lead roles for Adam Chance, check out "Some Girls Do", "Workin' for a Livin'", "I Can't Outrun You", and "Cover Me Up". Be sure you watch the part after the song "Cover Me Up" ends.
Going to a Home Free concert this month; I went to one last year and it was a blast.

I'm a home fry (fan of Home Free). My fellow fries have given some great suggestions - one piece of advice, don't react to "Mayday" until you're about 7-8 videos in. You really need to know the group and their roles first. "Take Me Home Country Roads" is a great place to start. It's a ballad style with r&b/gospel influences. Great reaction! Can't wait for more. 💙🍟

Home Free does not use instruments unless you see them in the videos. It is very rare. I believe the same is true of Pentatonix, and the third of the acapella pantheon, Voiceplay. In the older videos, instead of Adam Chance (back row in vest, did the jaw harp), you will see Chris Rupp, brother of the beatboxer Adam Rupp.
Some good ones are the Butts Medley, Helplessly Hoping. American Pie (with Don McLean), God Bless the USA (with Lee Greenwood and the USAF Singing Sergeants), Do You Hear What I Hear, End of the Road, Elvira (with the Oak Ridge Boys), How Great Thou Art, In the Blood, and When a Man Loves a Woman. One of my personal faves is Joy to the World, done very jazzy.

Yep, the dude in the back is Adam Chance (Chance since there are two Adams) and he's the one doing the jaws harp. His most recent lead is with Tim Foust (basso profundo with almost six octaves) doing a cover Dire Straits Brothers in Arms -- fantastic. There are no, zip, nada instruments used , except I think it's Born in the USA where Chance has lead and plays guitar. In their solo pieces, they usually have accompaniment. You're gonna really enjoy this journey down the Home Free rabbit hole. Their fans are Home Fries and they will keep you up on everything you want to know about our guys and guaranteed to be reflected on your channel.

Cicadas are big bugs that drone on during the summer months. And welcome to the Home Free rabbit hole! Austin Brown is the twangier of the two tenors. Rob Lundquist is the tenor with the heavier beard. Tim Foust is the bass, and he has a 5-octave range, BTW. Adam Chance (most just call him Chance) is the baritone who was doing the jaw-harp impersonation, and Adam Rupp is the most insane beatboxer you'll ever hear! Each has at least one video where they are the main attraction, plus they've done several collaborations with various other artists, including Avi Kaplan from Pentatonix, Peter Hollens, The Oak Ridge Boys, and many others. They lean country, but it's far from the only thing they do, having done Unchained Melody, End of the Road, and Never Gonna Give You Up, just to name a few. They've been at this for over twenty years, so there's plenty to choose from. Welcome to the party! Hope you enjoy your stay!

The sound you hear is a jaw harp...done by mouth. Adam Chance, I think. Adam Rupp does the beatbox. You have been treated to Tim Foust' bass...he just sucked out your soul. You want Tim's deep bass, watch Tim Foust in Misty Mountains. The first tenor is Austin Brown, second tenor is Rob Linquist, bass is Tim Foust, baritone/bass Adam Chance, Beatboxer is Adam Rupp. Adam Rupp and his brother, Chris started this group.

The dude in the back with the lighter colored hat is Adam Chance, the baritone/bass. He is doing the mouth harp in this song. “Helplessly Hoping”, “Some Girls Do”, “Dive Bar Saints”, “Try Everything”, and “One Man Band” are some songs that he has solos in. There are no instruments for Home Free except on “Born In the USA” where Chance plays guitar. First singer in this one is Austin Brown, he’s a tenor from Georgia. Next was Rob Lundquist (beard and glasses), he’s a tenor from Minnesota, Tim Foust (pronounced Fowst) is the bass with a 5 octave range from Texas, and last but definitely not least is Adam Rupp the beatboxer and human drum kit from Minnesota. When he does sing, he sings tenor. He co-founded the group with his brother Chris, who left the group amicably in 2016 to pursue a solo career.

Dave, glad you liked the guys. They've got REALLY short covers they do of a Crosby Stills and Nash song called "Helplessly Hoping" and of the Eagle's "Seven Bridges Road". My recommendation on most of their covers is to listen to the original (if you're not already familiar) in order to see either how faithfully Home Free stay to it or how they completely make it their own.

They deliberately emphasized the twang to pay homage to the original which dates back to 1913. Adam Rupp is their world class beatboxer and was the one doing the harmonica. Chance, {Adam Chance} is doing the Jew's harp and sings baritone but has enough range to carry the bass line when needed. Austin is singing lead tenor here and has a higher and sharper sound. Rob is singing second tenor and has a softer sound. Tim Foust is a world class bass with a 5-octave range. If you want to see him get really low, then watch Peter Hollens featuring Tim Foust singing Misty Mountains. Tim has been known to blow out speakers when they are touring. All of them can sing lead and do so in different songs. It is a very deep rabbit hole when you start looking into Home Free, they have so many great songs. You might even find yourself a Home Fry, {Home Free Fan}.

A Cappella can be a very deep rabbit hole to jump into. The main groups & pervers of this form of music are Pentatonix, Home Free, Voiceplay, Voctave, and Peter Hollens. They mostly do covers with a few originals thrown in (rapidly approaching 1,000 songs just for these folks.)
Others worth checking out would be Filhamonic, Natural 7, Julia Westlin, or Acapop Kids.

I LOVED your reaction! It is very similar to mine when I first heard them/this about six months ago. But I didn't know they were a capella and just assumed there were instruments that weren't in the video due to creative license, etc. Boy, was I wrong!! I have gone down the Home Free rabbit hole and haven't looked back. Everything they do is magic! They always have amazing vocals. You can't go wrong with anything they have done. Helplessly Hoping is probably one of my favorites, but really they are all amazing. I hope you react to more, so I have subscribed!

The diverse genre of music they bring to the table is simply amazing. This group is amazing in the diversity of their vocal range. Between the 5 members They have two guys that can make bass come alive, there are at least 3 or 4 that can deliver the baritone range, 4 with the Tenor II range and 3 with the Tenor I range. They sing a very wide diversity of music genre that include gospel, country, patriotic, rock n roll, blues and they are superb with their video interpretations for the songs they perform. They have well over 100 covers and also have original songs they have written too. They don't put out junk. The beat boxer Adam Rupp is an amazing artist that you will find in about 90% of their releases. Each of the singers could have a solo career in their own right. They are simply that good!!! Enjoy the rabbit hole. I discovered and started listening to them about 2+ years ago and rarely listen to any other group. They keep things very interesting routinely releasing a new cover or song many times throughout the year.

So many comments before mine have said so much already so I'll just add 'Fasten your seat belt you're in for an amazing ride!" Home Free offers a WIDE range of genres to choose from, each song/cover stays true to original with a special Home Free tweak that always amazes! They have no permanent lead singer, they vote on who is best suited for each song. Hope you choose "American Pie" with original singer/writer Mr. Don McLean, Mr. McLean chose Home Free to do his 50th Anniversary recording of his beloved icon song. Glad to have subbed can't wait to see more of your Home Free reactions. Thanks for the joy!

Not going to run out of videos. They have north of 150 vids out now. They are incredibly talented . Each person is a strong link within the band. The beatboxer is beyond human what he can do. Vocally the other three switch ranges. I'd like to see you react to a cover ..... Actually any cover they do is actually an upgrade..... When they cover a song it's always better. That being said. I'd like to see you do their cover of a Crosby stills and Nash song called helplessly hoping. . You will hear all the voices. Another that I feel is the best cover anyone has ever done of any song is their version of when a man loves a woman. Thanks for giving them a listen. You have broadened you're horizons hugely

Tim Foust is the bass with long hair in this song and the piercing eyes. As low as his lead is, he usually sings lower on support. He is often a bass guitar.
Austin Brown has most of the leads and is a tenor/high tenor with a darkish tone. You may want to try "When A Man Loves A Woman".
Rob Lundquist has the excellent beard and is a tenor with a nice twang or bluegrass tone to it.
Adam Rupp is the mad beatboxer who can sound like a harmonica and many other unlikely things (e.g. jet plane). He's pretty busy on "percussion" so he doesn't sing too often. Tenor when he does.
Chance (Adam Chance) is the baritone, does the jaw harp sound, but also sings tenor at times and bass to cover when Tim is on a lead.
