Living a simple life frees you from all the hullabaloos of this world and lets you focus more to your soul...at the end of the day it is not the size of the house that matters its the size of your heart...and what's important is you find peace and contentment...
My 22-year old grandson striving hard to support his young family, wife and 2 sons once told me when we were on the way to BGC, he blurted out that "he shall never appreciate condo living," while we were passing by the rows of buildings mostly for said purpose. That he opined that he could not imagine his life and living is just a wall difference from his neighbor who are strangers and the intrusion to his privacy is imminent. Thus, listening to your own narrative about the ish on condo living I understand now his perspective and the difference of yours from his. From my poor means as single parent I was able to build a modest house in Taguig designed to spare the kids from renting in their married years and that include now my aforementioned grandson. The bottomline here: the affluence you were endowed thus the higher quality of dwelling you own and living, vis.a viz, our hard diligence to keep our lives sustained by measly living in tightly-knitted spaces - we share the common set of values: FULFILLMENT and gratitude to whatever we have in life.

I am just concerned about your dad though you said he is still strong at his age but not sure of his safety especially sleeping alone .better check him at night from time to time or stay with him at night to be sure or you have your own duplicate key for his house and room just in case of emergency..regular check / lab tests is very necessary at his age.
