Releasing everything to counter Jesse Lyu’s public statement: “i guess if anyone chose to trust one side of a story from a single source, that's ok, but i alongside my entire team answered all questions via email from coffezilla which none of the fact answers get featured. i do have a entire email chain on my inbox”
When a scammer dodges your questions you shouldn’t get frustrated. It means you have asked the right questions.
Exactly. They're never going to admit to wrongdoing.
And in that case always remember to ask it a few times. Just to make it clear to all that they are filibustering.
Not necessarily, I think non answers can lead to many different outcomes. Red herrings and not sure if you are getting to the right issues.

@@TheManinBlack9054 is it though? i mean, i personally see value in human life, but there is nothing that makes human life inherently more valuable than the life of any other creature. the only reason we see it as valuable is because our own sense of self-preservation tells us to value our lives over the lives of the things around us.

I'm not a professional barominologist, but I feel rabbit's denials and dumping of vague marketing fluff is a different kind of bullshitting from the Gish gallop. Say what you will about creatintelligent designionism, but dammit, that was actually some damn fun sparring! Watching professional bioligists rip apart unspecified complexity "theory" was not only entertaining, but quite educational. A t-shirt. Not a dress shirt. As the void is without form.
If the R1 is so cheap, and its all just GPT3.5 Turbo (and whatever they use for the image). How will they keep paying for the OpenAI API costs without subscriptions?
Sounds to me like a pyramid where as soon as people stop buying the R1 they wont be able to pay for the API cost and the devices will just stop working.
I wonder how many of the customers think that the AI is in the gadget, and not running on some servers that can be turned off at any time?

The difference between a LLM and a LAM is a LLM is released with a research paper and a LAM is released with a press release.
I agree with your overall point, but I have to hard disagree with every component of it; LLMs are released with "research papers"; They release preprints, either on their own websites or Arxiv, that are rarely, if ever, peer reviewed. The papers about these architectures that do get peer reviewed are generally quite critical. The papers published by the likes of OpenAI should be considered marketing material.
There are exceptions. Something like Alphafold did get published in Nature, but it's not really an LLM although it has architectural similarities with LLMs and was published by Deepmind.
The LAM was actually published with a patent. I have read it, and it's kinda broad and probably useless... But, it is a patent.
@@AD173 No. The "LAM" is not published with a patent. I have read through every single one of Rabbit's registered patents. Not a single one mentions the terms "large action model" in a single one. The patent in question is 11908476, "System and method of facilitating human interactions with products and services over a network" (catchy name, I know). In that patent it talks in extremely vague terms about how their agent, hosted via various operating systems, connects to a LLM (ChatGPT) and an external API (I'm assuming Playwrite) to carry out user actions over the web. I swear...if TH-cam keeps deleting my comments
@@pacmonster066 I have never read a patent that includes a product or model name; LAM was clearly marketed as being the name of an AI model. I completely agree with you that LAM is not that. However, even if it was, its patent would probably have a name like "a machine learning algorithm for X" or "neural net algorithm for X". LAM would not be in the patent name. Patents are meant to be entirely descriptive.

You really do have to wonder, lol. Why would random PR guy who just works here and wasn’t part of the first project feel personally attacked by pointing out the corporate entity is connected to the previous project and didn’t deliver what was promised? A PR guy should be able to separate himself from bad press about the company, he’s just there to communicate, advise, and be a mouthpiece for the company and occasional punching bag for the public.
But it makes total sense that the founder would take personal offense and wouldn’t separate the corporate entity from himself because shady alleged scam/fraud or not, it’s still their baby.

When they say 80% of the Rabbit employees were new after GAMA, why not ask what percentage of GAMA team members are still with the Rabbit project. If 20 people built GAMA then they hire 80 more people for Rabbit then yes 80% of the Rabbit team is not the GAMA team but 100% of the GAMA team is still there. Fear the VOID
I've been a product and start up professional for a few decades. And this is worrisome. Companies do need room to pivot and change their roadmap when issues come up.
However, there needs to be a core MVP (minimum viable product) that you're working towards. It has to fulfill a market problem. And if it changes, that's ok to some extent. So long as you provide a rationale on what you learned in market and why it's changing. It's usually pretty straightforward feedback.
The problem comes in when the core promise is not viable. Like Elizabeth Holmes with Theranos.
That's basically what happened with the carbon neutral coin, but with Rabbit, it's still unclear and only time will tell.
What they're looking to do with Rabbit is objectively more viable. What matters now is if they execute. If they can't, he's going to be someone nobody invests in the future. He's cultivating the persona of someone who can't execute and it will follow him.
You do realize you missed the complete point, right? It doesn't do anything promised, not even a little bit. It is an unusable product and there are reviews that show that. It is a scam. Not a product in development that had to pivot or a shift in focus. It is a fully released product that doesn't do what it says on the tin. It is consumer fraud. A scam. "Only time will tell"? What? That the company will be sued and the owner will get jail time (not enough, mind you)?
@@bannin2916 There is a lot of software that is broken at launch; Think of almost every online multiplayer video game out there. This has also become a deliberate strategy; Make some money by launching the product and use that money to finish it. If the reviews don't shut your shop, you can even use the initial sales numbers to gain some additional momentum.
You should look up blitzscaling. It's a very common strategy in startup circles.
It may not be ethical, but it is pursued by many because it has many success stories under its belt. Also, customers tend to forgive you if you manage to right the ship in time.
I really enjoyed this because it shows your process in how you go about things.
Unfortunately, the revelation that a scam company would be dishonest about their dealings isn't surprising.

This is one of my favorite channels in general
I have a Master's and had a focus in data analytics (meaning lots of machine learning, AI, etc. type of scripting using R and Python). Full disclosure, LAM was not really mentioned in my classes if at all due to how fast AI has been evolving recently so i had to look up a lot on how it works compared to LLMs. However, based on everything I understand of Rabbit and how it works, it is technically a "LAM" in that it takes information and converts it to actions BUT it does so in a very limited and poor way, if you even consider it a LAM (based on my best understanding of the LAM proper, the R1 does not hit those metrics considering how effectively it does but let's assume it has a LAM for the sake of argument). The goal of a LAM is to get it so I can point a camera (or sensor) at an object or say something, the model breaks it down, and does particular actions (ie. point a camera at a flower in Home Depot and lets me order it or nutrients it needs, say I want to order a pizza and then orders it as I like it). While the R1 meets those metrics in an extremely limited sense for what few things it actually does, it does not do so well. Doing calls to GPT, depending on Playwright, etc. is a great way to have a system that is not very scalable or resilient. One UI change or a change in the API call that is expected, and suddenly the product does not work. If you wanted to use a browser-based automation, you'd need something that can correctly catch itself with changes, and react accordingly. The technology for that type of browser automation is there but, from my understanding, not with Playwright (I am more partial to Scrapy for open-source browser automation so my knowledge of Playwright is extremely limited but do know it ain't easy in Python considering you want it to be accurate but fast). Heck oftentimes it is better to do calls to site APIs for automation where possible just because of how volatile frontends managed by other companies can be usually backends at least will change much more slowly if at all. This is a problem for any automated tool, even the best ones. The R1 feels more like a rough proof-of-concept, and not something I'd be willing to pay a dime for. If this was a kickstarter, I think the dialogue would be very different, and maybe then I could be convinced to part with several bucks just to see where it goes. Call me crazy but I do not invest in promises of a halfway useful project in the next several years, especially when the company in question has gotten in over their heads on what are ultimately several incomplete projects [stages].
TLDR: someone who studied machine learning academically says the R1 is TECHNICALLY (the word does some very heavy lifting) a Language Action Model-like device, but a POC at best. I feel like in a short amount of time someone is going to make an open source LAM proof-of-concept that is more feature-rich. If I am proven wrong on it or any of this, I will happily eat my words on it and not gaslight anyone.
Did you read their patent? If not, you should; It explicitly states that they are reliant on LLMs. Per their patent, they are not going to use APIs since one sub-claim in their main independent claim is the translation of requests into "user interface (UI) actions".
Regarding open-source LAM alternative... It already exists; Meta released Toolformer last year, and it uses APIs.
@@AD173 so at the point not an LAM per their design. Like I said, I put for the sake of argument that it is but does so poorly at best. With their patents sounds like an admission it isn't an LAM altogether. Did not know about Toolformer. Thanks for the info.
