Gaming is becoming expensive. For any casual that wants modern gaming of good standards on a tight budget a PC is simply out of the question, it's too big an investment. That is exactly how I feel about the PS5 Pro. Objective upgrade over the PS5, if you don't have a PS5 and want or if you have the cash to spare and wanna buy the Pro I guess it's inherently worth it simply for offering the best experience. If you want a cheap option for current gen the XBOX Series S is the best deal. Generally, I find the XBOX Series X to be the best offering currently. A lot of it's specs are superior to the PS5 (PlayStation kinda placed all their eggs in 1-2 baskets and fall short on certain aspects, XBOXs always were better rounded and more all-round consistent), it offers the better UI and a better store with better deals (Game Pass Core is cheaper than PSN, Game Pass Ultimate is better than PS+) and the controller is leagues better.
Reading this you have made me want to look deeper into the Xbox as I have never really cared much for it. I've never ignored it inherently it's more that PS has been my childhood console at the turn of the tide. So I never have Xbox a fair shout but I do hear that same sentiment a lot with game pass and features. Appreciate the insights
@Boymanbeard Happy to hear that. The PS5 Pro talks are generally very yack online, it's nice to get a healthy perspective from enjoyers and non-enjoyers of it. Similar experience to yours regarding my past. Had the PS1, PS2, PS3, PSP and DS growing up. As an adult, I got the ones I was missing, got a Genesis, an SNES, a DreamCast, a GameCube, GBA, PS Vita, 3DS, PS4 and naturally XBOX, XBOX 360, XBOX ONE and now the Series X. The difference is honestly insane once you get a taste of all, XBOX is by far the best offering. ONE VS PS4 and Series X VS PS5 isn't that drastic, both offer a good experience. In regards to XBOX 360 VS PS3 the 360 clears, it's not even close. I genuinely feel bad for myself and anyone who got a PS3 instead of a 360, can't believe how much better it actually is. Something else I've also noticed is that I have much more stable multiplayer experiences on XBOX in comparison to Playstation, although that might be straight up to luck, not sure how server infrastructure works in regards to developer and platform (for example I got no clue if there's any communication between Zenimax Online and Microsoft or SONY to run servers for The Elder Scrolls Online, but my experience on XBOX is always more stable than on Playstation so I'd argue there is some communication). I'm not an XBOX > PS type of guy in the traditional sense, I think both are great, just believe XBOX usually comes out on top in performance and quality and I think that's by design. Where SONY goes for power and diversity (as they undeniably have a better library) Microsoft goes for consistency and gracefulness. PS feels like the home of the casual player, XBOX feels like the home of the gamer.
@@DsLmaNiaC New problems arise with cloud gaming unfortunately. A strong, good and stable connection is required. Many locations don't have that available yet, others can't have it reliably due to overcrowded network providers or other roadblocks, others simply can't afford it (in many European countries especially good internet packets are still very expensive). What you're suggesting surely eliminates the issue of hardware but introduces the issue of commonly outdated Wi-Fi speeds.
Hogwarts Legacy at 4K / 60 is bigger jump than any jump I saw on the PS4 Pro. It makes it look like a remastered version of the game and pits it against expensive PCs. Not all games share this increase, but there are plenty of poorly upscaled PS5 games that will benefit MASSIVELY for the Pro. That’s the bread and butter of the console. As for unpatched games, they look and run better too. It’s a win win situation. Plenty of PS5 games I thought looked fugly and blurry on my PS5. That is entirely gone on the Pro. As a former PC gamer that updated a rig every few years, I’m used to this and am glad we have the option to push games further. The Pro certainly does that. TH-cam commenters that haven’t tried it in person and are judging the console based off of compressed TH-cam videos, are pretty worthless opinions. It’s like someone trying to make a decision about VR. It’s just not possible unless you have it in front of you.
This is a beautifully written commentary and does push a narrative I've been trying to explain myself. It's easy to hate that's the problem these last few years, so it's nice to see some positives!
It still has the same power as a regular ps5 the cpu and the gpu is still the same its just a better upscaler than the ps5 and for $700 its very overpriced. Objectively speaking its a bad deal but i suppose that’s still convenient to plenty of players.
Yeah totally get the pros (😄) and cons I just enjoy the discussions surrounding it and hearing from other people's point of view. If it's a dumbass comment, not yourself but others who can't articulate i just think how's that helping me and other players!
Just picked mine up yesterday mate can’t fault it all the games that have got pro enhanced modes I love and play anyways so why wouldn’t I want to play them games to there fullest potential yer I get it’s a lot of money to drop but honestly guys it’s worth it ff7 rebirth in pro mode chef kiss 💋
PS5 Pro is absolutely worth it. I kept trucking on with my PS4 Pro when the PS5 first launched in Q4 2020 (IMO no need to fomo into a base PS5 in Q4 2020 - Q1 2024 there were no games) now my patience has rewarded me and i'm enjoying banger new titles and sharper improved backlog 💯 EDIT: My PS4 Pro is now my main bluray player
Imagine saying a system that cost this much worth it. How much your ps pro worth right now? 150$? And nobody would buy it that price. And it playes mos tof the games the PS5 does. So that means in a few years that ps5 worth about that. And that means buying it isnt a good deal. Even less so because ps5 has barely any games.

Bro, just discovered ur channel when u talked about Hakoom. The pro is stunning and totally worth it.

Things will change with Cloud streaming services. You won't need hardware any more. So these people will be covered by this type of services.
