one suggestion for the upcoming all star games JUST REMOVE THE THREE POINT LINE even for that ONE GAME the whole world will SEE A VASTLY DIFFERENT GAME
NBA has many problems in many areas. I'll just address one here, the 3pt. 1. Cap the 3P FGA of all teams per team per game. Let's say 20 3P FGA per team, per game. Every team decides how to use it, up until the final 2 minutes. 2. Free for all 3P FGA in the final 2 minutes. So teams can catch up, extend the lead, when game is on the line. 3. This will encourage for plays in the post and mid range. Next agenda on this 3rd point, is defense.
My recommendation is to make it a new rule that a team can only attempt a maximum of twenty 3 points attempts per game and if they exceed that then it is a technical foul and the other team shoots 2 free throws . Around 2010-2014 the NBA was at its peak of popularity and teams were averaging that twenty 3 point attempts per game. I'll keep the 3 point line were it is.
As much as people hate on Rob Manfred, he made changes that made the MLB more enjoyable and exciting to watch. MLB and the players listened to the fans. The NBA needs to listen to not just the fans, but to retired player's coaches and even current players.
The issue is that the NBA has been manipulated into being a social club instead of a competitive sports league. Their biggest star has convinced most of his counterparts that ‘we’re friends’, which has disarmed the players from taking their job seriously, and instead they are all following suit & stretching their tenure by playing with 1/2 energy, missing games & collecting as much money as they can. This in return has allowed this player to dominate in the absence of competition. Pretty much the players are chilling on the porch until the porch light comes on. Until the NBA clean out house…the players will be come spectators, and the spectators will stay home. FYI- this 3-point talk is a deflection towards Steph, when the real issue is the big 6’7” elephant in the room.
The other thing that’s absurd about that social media garbage is that it’s overseas people. They don’t have the ability or money to get to your games, buy your tv packages or official merchandise. Stop physically and emotionally coddling these soft 7’0 divas and we’ll watch again.
That ridiculous “NBA Cup” didn’t even sell out. Tickets were only $29. My how the mighty have fallen. The NBA is toast and it’s never gaining back its old popularity. All the politics wiped out half their audience.
The 3pt basket was implemented circa 1980 and didn’t play a role until 35 years later. It will kill the NBA. Why score 2 when you can score 3. In football, a touchdown is 6. Run it in or throw it or pick 6, worth only 6. In soccer or hockey, a goal anywhere on the floor is 1. In baseball, a hr or moving runners base by base is scored as 1. Just get rid of the 3 pt line. Play basketball!
You know it’s bad when Commissioner Gollum can only brag about people talking about the NBA online. They can’t get anybody to watch but gee whiz people were talking about it on X. They’ll never get back to their old glory. Those days are well past us.
Silver does not need to change the game, he’s done enough of that…he needs to grow a pair and make the players play and make the refs enforce the rules for all players not just for the stars. Bring back physicality and fine players and coaches for load management.
Ahhh.. that’s a good idea to eliminate the corner 3. It would increase coverage natural at the new line and be less advantageous to park a couple of players at each corner. I like that a lot. On a side note, I think the ASG winning conference should be able to choose the Finals Home-Away format. 2-2-2-1 or 2-2-1-1-1. The players, and damn sure the coaches, would push for a much more competitive game where winning would matter. Need those two changes!
Colin, I don’t watch TV. I don’t attend sports but I used to and if it weren’t for shows like you that are more entertaining than the sports product, I would forget the sports actually exist. The reality is that no one watches the games like they used to, and it’s likely will never come back
Adam Silver is a lawyer, according to the pedia, He never played any level of basketball and you want him to change the game? How about ask the guys who play everyday… like James, Hardin, Curry, etc. for their input on how to change the game.
I use to be an avid watcher of the NBA, but find myself not caring for it as the years go on since 2017. I'm a Lakers fan and Lebron and Rob Pelinkers is making me not the like the team. I watch other teams and and all of them play the same way and no difference in play style. The sensitivity of the reffing has gotten annoying and it's destroying rivalries. I can keep going on why the league has been unwatchable, but I'm sure a lot of sport pundits, Podcaster, and youtubers have covered it. Adam Silver is in complete denial and he either needs to recognize and reform, or resign.
I dont understand the correlation of Lebron going to the Heat with the viewership declining. The three point isn't really the issue but the constant movement of players is fans lose loyalty. ASG needs to stay emEast vs West with some type of incentive for the winners and their teams. More star-studded performances.
Personally I think most of it has to do with the pace of play. There is no flow in these games. Timeouts, TV timeouts, fouls, commercial breaks come all over the place. With the NFL or MLB you kind of know when the commercial breaks are coming. In the NBA things start going one way just getting good. Time out. Foul. Oh TV timeout. There is no consistency to the actual game. MLB saw this with their sport. They limited pitching changes, got a pitch clock, got rid of shift ect ect. Basketball needs to rethink more than just their 3 point stuff.
Serious suggestion to the NBA to improve ratings - NOT move back the 3 point line (sorry, Cowherd, i disagree), but, BRING BACK hand checking, ALLOW tough defense. ASG, the new changes look too complicated and smells of elitism. Why the crew of Inside The NBA only? Where's ESPN? Where's FS1? How about CBS, ABC, etc? RIVALRIES, Mr. Silver. That's what draws interest. "Then what do YOU suggest?" - KD suggested East vs West back, but I also think that ship has sailed. With the global influence, why not "USA vs World"? Winner gets bragging rights. Dear Americans, can you imagine the media frenzy if Team USA loses EACH ASG? Win - "we're still no. 1". Lose - "omg, what happened to Americans? Our programs stink". Then, more competition. Good for us fans. 2 cents worth.
The rules and the lazy defense have made it too easy to shoot uncontested 3’s. Once upon a time players had to do a cross over or run off a screen to get an open 3. Now all you need is a stepback
Instead of all these lame gimmick ideas for the all star game formats why not use it as an opportunity to remove the 3 point shot altogether and see how it affects the flow of the game? No line no incentive to step back taking long range shots but get back to fast break basketball and cuts to the basket. Give it a try and see how it goes.
Agreed on moving out the three pointer and eliminating the corner 3. I like the idea of rewarding dunks with 3 points as well. That would be fun. People trying to dunk and block dunks. Those are the highlights. I’d watch that. Add some hand checking and penalize whining more often. Now we’re cooking.
I think if you lose a point on three point shot if you miss. You only loss a point if you have scored in the game. So once you've made one, you can then lose points by shooting more. You don't lose points for shooting 2 point shots.
Just like they put a time limit on staying in the key and then you got to get out of the key put a max limit on three-pointers that you can shoot and then after that any shot is worth only two
-The NBA doesn't have a "3 POINTS" problem -NO HANDCHECK RULE when playing Defense is the PROBLEM -IN TODAY'S GAME, BIG MEN ARE IRRELEVANT NOW BECAUSE OF "NO HANDCHECK RULES" ******BRING BACK HANDCHECKING FOR DEFENDERS. FORCE THE "3 POINTS JACKERS" TO PLAY INSIDE TOO*******

For how “SKILLED” these players are today this is without a doubt the MOST BORING era of basketball since the beginning of basketball in the 60s
Basketball did not begin in the 60s 😂😂😂. And don’t say the NBA did too because that’s not true either.
Hey Colin, what about making a SUPER-DUNK worth as much as a 3-pointer? That will be great entertainment and will force more drives to the basket.
While that would be good these modern day players are too soft and seem to be injured a lot and they only shoot 3s and lay ups, i think they'd blow hammys left right and centre if they actually applied dunking force to their leaps
Make it 4 points
Is how the teams choose play the commissioners fault? His job is to make money for the owners, which he has.
NBA is trash product and Silver is responsible. Worst commish in sports. Zero defense and all 3’s. No one wants this crap. Bring back competitive intensity. Fire Silver
Well. Lebron controls him.
one suggestion for the upcoming all star games
JUST REMOVE THE THREE POINT LINE
even for that ONE GAME
the whole world will SEE A VASTLY DIFFERENT GAME
Bring back handchecking and leave the 3pt line, the 3s will become less if you can defend
Steph and klay shot the majority of 3s, everyone else not so much. Gotta stop the narrative they won only jump shooting
😅😅😅😅 adam silver said there is no “declined tv ratings” if there is no TV! So I’m talking the NBA talents to Amazon 😅😅😅
Delusional
He's not from our planet Earth...he's ET Him for a reason 😭
Defensive 3 secs…well add a offensive 3 secs outside the 3 pt line.
all you have to do is go back to playing like we use to....bring back big men and post play....smdh
What bothers me is no more rivalries every body loves each other its almost not even about winning anymore.
WTF is Colin talking about? Adam Silver, Chicago Bears, bridge project, what???
Start with this. You a bad boy? You get a 5 game suspension. You a bad boy twice - 25 games.
That ridiculous “NBA Cup” didn’t even sell out. Tickets were only $29. My how the mighty have fallen. The NBA is toast and it’s never gaining back its old popularity. All the politics wiped out half their audience.
Adam Silver can’t help there isn’t a Bird, Magic, MJ, Shaq, Barkley, Rodman, Or Kobe
Old people: social media doesn't matter
It doesn't equal ratings, which are down 40% in the last several years. Learn to listen
No Adam Silver needs to be FIRED!!!!
Adam Silver needs to go!! They need to gather all NBA champions and brainstorm on how to make the game better and watchable 🤷🏾♂️
You know it’s bad when Commissioner Gollum can only brag about people talking about the NBA online. They can’t get anybody to watch but gee whiz people were talking about it on X. They’ll never get back to their old glory. Those days are well past us.
Silver is a social media commissioner😂😂😂
The reality is that no one watches the games like they used to, and it’s likely will never come back
Can nba players defend the full court... I have no idea why they just go straight to half court defence
Adam Silver is a lawyer, according to the pedia, He never played any level of basketball and you want him to change the game? How about ask the guys who play everyday… like James, Hardin, Curry, etc. for their input on how to change the game.
Pay the players according to their performance and they will make the game exciting
They new rule changes made it more possible for non-athletic players to thrive in the NBA.
Adam Silver can't tell the coaches to stop making their players shoot 60 threes per game
He does have the ability to let defenders actually play defence tho....
"Cookies for breakfast."
- A. Silver
The rules and the lazy defense have made it too easy to shoot uncontested 3’s. Once upon a time players had to do a cross over or run off a screen to get an open 3. Now all you need is a stepback
WHY DOES THE MEDIA TREAT ADAM SILVER LIKE HE HAS A GOLDERN TICKET? Colin wants to change the game instead of the guy whos in charge 😂 wtf
How much coaches
Make a weekend at Bernie’s film with Kobe. That’d increase popularity for at least a short period of time.
Collin Cowherd has been boring his entire career and that's never going to change
Vince carter is why I started watching nba
Start taking money out the players pockets for games missed, bring back hand checking and the game will get back right.
@@kyliedadifyMight as well just remove the 3 point line instead of doing all that then.
Not a bad idea
Silver started ruining the NBA when he put Black Lives Matter on the court.
Adam silver is easily the worst commissioner in pro sports.
Just like they put a time limit on staying in the key and then you got to get out of the key put a max limit on three-pointers that you can shoot and then after that any shot is worth only two
NY Knicks have been obviously tanking for decades for some reason
Take the power away from Silver now or there will be an nba app in 3 yrs and nothing else
-The NBA doesn't have a "3 POINTS" problem
-NO HANDCHECK RULE when playing Defense is the PROBLEM
-IN TODAY'S GAME, BIG MEN ARE IRRELEVANT NOW BECAUSE OF "NO HANDCHECK RULES"
******BRING BACK HANDCHECKING FOR DEFENDERS. FORCE THE "3 POINTS JACKERS" TO PLAY INSIDE TOO*******
Get rid of LeBron and clutch sports and stop talking them about them every damn time
Every 3 missed should be deducted a point. You're welcome NBA
They should just push the 3pt line back it’ll expose the bad shooters
This aint preventing teams from shooting the shot with an extra point. It will actually widen the defense even more
@ the era we in is the shorter 3pt line and shooting spiked when they pushed it in, push it back out and it’ll fall because guys will have terrible percentages cause not everyone Steph or Dame, ppl gone be shooting low 30s even 20’s
