The other thing is, shaq and chuck have earned respect from their games too. Not only are they honest, and comical, they know wtf they are talking about.
2 of the best points imo
    - load management. I don't normally agree with this person often, but he was spot on about the load management, and the fact that it suggests the games don't matter.
    - the play in: Worst decision ever made by Adam Silver. Now the reg season doesn't matter at all. Unless you are a g league team there is no reason why you can't be one of the 10 best teams in the conference that only has 15 teams in it.
    Suggestions:
    - Get rid of load management, even if they have to reduce the games f4rom 82 to 70. People don't like this cause the arguments change in the barber shop and it shows a level of softness to the older eras, but its the best way IMO to make the reg season more exciting.
    - Get rid of the play in. I like robs idea of making it possible for only 10 teams to make it into the playoffs. It will force teams to care about the reg season, and it will make the reg season worth watching. But, the league is already top 10 heavy so it will make 20 teams irrelevant. Therefore, I suggest that the conferences are removed and the top 16 teams makes the playoffs.
As a third point, style of play matters. Styles make fights. Every team is playing the same way - jack up threes. Its not even about the threes going in, its just boring basketball. I can watch that kind of basketball at my local if I want. I don't want to see that. The problem isn't just the three point shooting, its the fact that you can't adequately defend the three ball either. You can't land in the shooters space, your contest is basically just made to look like its a contest but its no different to the trainer putting his hand up. Its weak, its boring, and its repetitive.

There was only one Alan Iverson, Isiah Thomas (2 recently ), Steph Curry. 6’3 under stars.
The athletic 6’3 above was about flying around the rim. We could never do it because we didn’t have the height. 6’6 above. Low post is gone.
So now the 6 feet , 6-3, 6-6, 6-9 and 7ft all shoot the same shot.

My biggest issue isn’t the 3 pt shooting , it’s the normalization of offensive moves that would be called a travel the previous decades.
Players like Harden essentially hacked NBA reffing to draw fouls and also be able to always create separation for a shot.
i.e. ‘gather step’ , euro step , step back 3s etc.
there are plenty of examples on TH-cam of what is normal today was called a carry or travel from 2000s on back. What I watch today isn’t recognizable from what I grew up watching , and playing in the 90s and 2000s.

NBA has a JAMES PROBLEM!!! Been saying this for years. I use to say he's good for business, BAD FOR BASKETBALL but now in year 22 ( for absolutely no reason) he's terrible for the league and business now. That's why he went to the Lakers, to extend his shelf life bcuz why not go to the biggest, richest franchise. He dominates the media, pulse of the game, and viewership. All of these media companies, broadcasters, owners pandering towards him and are complicit to the downfall of viewership and the overall brand. He's nullified any chances of another star to carry the brand the next 20 years. It could have been Curry but James cnt let go of the rope and the league hasn't groomed another face of the league. James legacy tarnishes everyday and James life without the league is going to be a terrible transition and I'm sure Savannah is going to divorce him.

NBA ratings are down because the game is not very accessible to watch. Most people I know don't even have cable anymore. They're watching nothing but streaming services and TH-cam videos.
The reason why 48% in the last 12 years all the NBA games you used to watch on national free channels. You used to be able to watch the NBA for free! I really think people miss that point of view. The product is still a good product. Team shooting a lot of threes is still entertaining. The game is not very accessible to watch it's that simple.

The reason viewership is down is because of how soft the NBA rules have become
. “They have legislated defense out of the game”to quote Steve Kerr. The players seem softer than previous players because they’re not allowed to play hard tough defense. Players are rewarded for flopping, and foul batting because the rules allow them to.
People want to see competition! They want it to appear difficult to score, and it doesn’t!
People may not want to see 73-68 but 120 points , 130 points is too much

By the early 2010s I only went two - three games tops, just watched games on TV. I completely stopped by 2015 & only watched the playoffs. The last 5 years, I basically only watched the finals and only if I was at a bar. Other than that, I’ve stopped watching full games, only highlights on YT. The game is boring now and none of the current young players are exciting enough for me to care. Pretty soon, the NBA will be like baseball for me, I’ll just stop watching completely. Okay. I am going to defend Coach Pop concerning the load management issue. When he started resting his 30+ year old players, it was because they had literally been playing together longer than anyone. TD, Manu, and TP has played in more PLAYOFF games than any other trio EVER. They had been playing over 100 games a year for over 15 years. Not only that, Tony and Manu also played summer FIBA league.
Not only that, Coach Pop only rested his older big three. Every other player on the team played every game.
STOP BLAMING POPOVICH because Embiid, Kawhi and Durant are injury prone and don't know how to keep their skinny butts in shape during the off season. At Forty years old, Tim Duncan still improved his team defensive score by over 15 points, while scoring double doubles.
