  • Fall colour photography is a landscape photographer's dream. I headed up to Muskoka, Ontario to shoot some fall colours in today's photography vlog.
The details for my camera bag contest are here: • A Camera Bag Giveaway
Muskoka in the fall has always been somewhere that I've wanted to shoot. But, I thought I was actually in Toronto at the wrong time of month. I thought I was a bit too early for peak colours in Muskoka. And, it might have been a bit early. fall colours were at about 40%. I think, the day I went it was likely a week from peak colours in Muskoka. But, it was still really beautiful. And, I had so much fun.
I started my fall landscape photography at a place called Oxtongue Lake where there was a lot of morning mist coming up off the water. It was a beautiful scene. And, I got some cool sunrise photos. But, it wasn't the heavy fall colours that I was hoping for. So, I pushed on towards Algonquin Provincial Park, and stopped at a place called Ragged Falls. But, even at the park there was a lot of mist and fog. And, around the water there weren't a lot of colours.
Also, fall colour photography can be a bit of a challenge because you need the perfect light. A lot of shadows and backlight make it a little bit hard. But, above Ragged Falls on the Oxtongue River I found some really cool scenes of fall and the water in the foreground. And, by the end of the morning shoot, I ended up with a dozen images that I really like.
My fall photos for my trip to Muskoka are cool. And, I had so much fun up in this part of Ontario. Considering I went in blind and really didn't know where to go, I am extremely pleased with my shots.
Definitely, there are cool photography locations in Muskoka for fall colours. And, honestly, I only found a handful of them.
Tomorrow, I have one last vlog from Canada before heading out to the UK.
Hopefully, I can do some fall colour photography there too.

Thanks for shareing I like the way you don't give up on shooting because the weather isn't perfect, I don't have the luxury of being able to wait for perfect conditions so I have to shoot in what ever the conditions are when I get the chance to go I believe it makes me better in the long run

Great vlog as always Brendan. Absolutely stunning locations :) You shot such awesome images - the misty lake & then those rapid waters! And especially those images when you immersed your tripod in the water!
    Wow! :)

Hi There from Oshawa, Ontario. I enjoyed your video because I love outdoors but I cannot shoot outdoors. I've got family and kids so I had to make a decision to shoot mostly models and weddings. I've got channel with videos there too... lol.. but just wanted to say hello. I wish I could just pack and go early morning shoot just like you... amazing... loved it.

we were just up in the New Brunswick (Fundy National Park & Hopewell Rocks area) last week for a few days and the trees were just turning Fall like. Another couple weeks and they're going to be full on Fall color.

Brendan I suggest to check Algonquin park next time, along hwy 60, Rock Lake have some expectacular views. The
7 kilometres hike to the lookout its worth it. I watched your videos to patagonia, how you liked it?

    Nice!
Just an FYI...Don't know if it's the way I watch your videos or if anyone else has this issue, but I cast the video to my TV and when I do, the tech info for your images is cut off and I can't see it. Perhaps bringing it in more? But that would mean a slightly smaller image to view, but at least everything would show. I really don't want to watch these on a small screen, but it's either that or don't know or care about the tech settings on your images. Thanks!

Nice shots, always like your photos. But with all due respect could you possibly leave them up for more than the default 4.9 sec that Lightroom offers; maybe 8 or 10 secs. Can't focus at less than 5 secs. :(
