Installing/Fixing USB AUX Port for the 2015 Nissan Sentra

Had to buy a used car due to an accident. Got this car with a damaged USB port. I wanted to try to fix it and document it for those out there with a similar issue. I couldn't find any specific guides on this, so, hopefully this finds the right people. I am a total amateur and know nothing about cars. I barely even know how to put gas in the tank. (gas goes in the tank... right??)

Just got my Nissan Versa 2016 yesterday, the aux port is loose and the USB charges so slowly that it said it would take over 24 hours to charge my phone from 50%. Ordered a replacement port off Amazon and will be trying this fix over the weekend. This video is still helping people in 2024!

FYI a piece of heavy paper, such as card stock, folded in half worked great to separate this from the console to begin the plug and play replacement! Saved lots of money by not having the dealership take care of this!
Just be sure you contact a dealership and get the correct part # for your make and model unless it was in your owner's manual, etc.

I found the replacement aux/usb port part online from a Nissan dealership called Coulter's (sp?). It arrived fast via expedited shipping. Your video helped me navigate this issue correctly! With my situation, the tabs from that outer shell had snapped off, and that whole port slumped into the console. Once I was able to disengage the wires from the damaged part, it was so easy. (Incidentally, I bought my car used. Like your vehicle, it was also a rental prior to my buying it.) Replacing the entire port fixed the problem. Even if you thought that this might have been a silly video to begin with, thanks very much for posting this! Have a good day.

Thank you so much for this video!! My aux cable tip broke off and is currently stuck inside the AUX port. Dealership said it will cost atleast 170.00 bucks to fix it inside my 2016 , I used a butter knife to pull out the port,but thanks to your video, I am going to order a new port offline and assemble it!!!(But first i am going to try a USB to 3.55aux adaptor first..) Instead of working from the front end I found it easier to pop the center plastic off on the passenger side foot well. Then reach in and just push out the port assembly (apparently I was also depressing the clip on one side). The side wall then just pops back in when done.
After I took the module out I hooked it to my computer with a Mini-USB cord and found it was not the problem. When I put it back in the car it was not lighting up the USB drive I had in it as before. I then blindly traced that to the back of the radio and suddenly the light came on and AC/DC started playing from the drive. Lesson is check that both ends are good.

Okay so I took out the usb part, come to find out there weren’t any wires under it, is this something that needed to be added on with the manufacturer?
@rockynancy8900 hmm i know i didnt add those wires. if there was a usb thing there.. with nothing connecting it.. i think there must be an explanation with the person or place you bought it from. it must have never have worked then?

Hi Edwin. It sounds like you should replace the entire port.

I couldn't tell you. very sorry. im no car expert. in fact I'm having issues with my car now. I remember typing in ebay.. usb port, nissan.Nissan.. and going from there.
Could you possibly link to the part you bought? I've looked around and most versions of this seem to have different types of connectors underneath

The part name is: USB aux auxiliary jack adapter . Go to EBay and you lll see pictures of the items

yes, I play a sansa sport clip through that auxiliary port. the usb works well too. came in handy when I used my car cigarette charger on vacation and forgot to put it back. the usb does not charge fast at all, but great to have in a back up. I recommend the 2 port anker cigarette charger. but yes that port works well now. im glad it helped someone..

oh man, im so sorry. i know what thats like! i wish i knew. i really dont know much about cars. i would say if you have the right part.. detatch and start again make sure the connections are snug.. and nothing is broken... ill try to think of any other ideas... good luck!!
My question is if I connect my phone in the usb charger that’s next to the aux input and i have the Bluetooth connected i get zero sound from my phone to the speakers. I get a screen that says “Bluetooth playback is paused due to Bluetooth connected phone is also connected to the auxiliary.” Do you get this too?

Great video. I had a "professional" place (Cartunes) install an Alpine navigation but they didn't use a ports retention cable so my USB/Aux ports don't work. I have to plug the flash drive into a cable in the glove box.

Yes, you can remove the top part of the adapter and then slide the usb board out and replace it with another one.

Hi, look up nissan sentra 2015 (or whatever year) USB in ebay. lots of choices come up. also, keep checking back, different sellers come about with it often.

I got an issue like this before 24 June 2020, and no RB platform Hyundai Accent was present!
I wonder if one of the fuses went out for it:. Check the fuse box that’s connected with the usb

sorry, the one thing I should have mentioned is that I got it from ebay. I looked up sentra 2015 aux usb and they come up here and there. I think I paid 20 -26 bucks with shipping. Honestly, I don't use the port, but I like the fact that I fixed it.
Nice try, and congrats on saving a few bucks & replacing your usb. I kept waiting for you to show the back of that unit to see the actual socket, but you never did show it. I only saw you show the sides/front of the broken/replacement piece. :(

thanks, I ended up taking out plug and I took out the USB and then took the female USB from a old computer and soldered it in. It works but it only charges phone. I can't get it to play music in my sentra. Thanks for video though,it was helpful.

usb will not charge because it is for iPhone/ipod interface only...so add a usb elsewhere or change the stereo and or the ipod interface....or get the iphone 30 pin connector for your car and go from there USA Spec CB-PA105A iPod® Cable

Edwin Perry II hi, great question... the usb i changed out was damaged so i couldn't tell you. if you find one i would say try it out and change it. if not, i would recommend getting a carport cigarette charger from anker, their stuff works so well and it has two usb ports at the time of writing this. i fixed the usb, but i still use the cigarette charger!

Edwin Perry II i gotta be honest. i dont really use it. i recommend an anker cigarette lighter charger with 2 ports to charge. it works very quickly.
