Love it, just switched to a block based them yesterday, and its so extensible and customisable.
I've been using Beaver Builder since 2015 and still love it. Thank you for sharing the update about WP 6.2 but I don't think I'll be switching to the new block builder because I don't think it's as intuitive as my favorite page builder.
I'm impressed that now it's getting more granular control over the elements. That will attract more advanced users for sure and more beautiful designs will emerge.
It won't attract more 'advanced' users. Gutenberg, by design, will never attract advanced users.
This was incredibly helpful for someone that doesn't want to revert back to the classic editor but is struggling to find the right theme for the block editor.
Thanks Adam. I like the direction WP is headed. UI extensibility @ the block/module level is huge. Combine that with with the rise of almost flawless "robocode" generation and transformation, and the WP world definitely changes almost overnight. It will be fun to watch how the eco system responds. Now, if WP gave us an easy way to hook into the block UI and drive it programmatically, every thing really changes. "Hey [fill in your favorite programming AI], modify the center top image block to spin when I mouse over it but only on Mondays." We can almost do that today, and we will be doing it in the near future. Appreciate you content.
Wow, this is actually quite impressive. After watching your video, I'm much more inclined to use the block based theme editor, depending on the site, of course.
I like the Fluid Typography and some of the menu controls (logo in center) but from first glance the interface seems like many more clicks than with Elementor.

Thanks for this video. It won't change the experience of Elementor Pro or some other editors because we have more freedom in Elementor; in block-based editors, we seem to be more limited, so I can't get used to it. But overall, this new theme and editor is excellent for simple websites and non-elementor guys :D

Adam, I like the idea and concepts in the new WordPress block themes. It saves me searching every page item with Inspect and going to customizer to build my site-wide customizations.
Question: Do the edit options allow or include gradients?

End of page builders? Ya, I think not. Most devs I talk to hate the block builder cause it’s utterly crap, and for clients they hate it too, since it’s so confusing for them. Page builders will be here to stay, as WP themselves (hopefully) won’t shoot themselves in the foot by wiping out a whole industry.

Thanks for your video Adam. Always a great way to be inside the loop about WordPress stuff. I've used Elementor for about 5 years now and although I hate the yearly subscription plans they force on us, I don't think I'll be changing my design/production process any time soon.

It sounds great. I will switch to this block-based theme. People will complain about losing something familiar, like they do about losing petrol/gas cars, but this is the future of Wordpress. Thanks, Adam
Let's hope that's not a direct comparison between EVs and WP tho...The EVs have virtually no history of reliability, very few mechanics, replacement batteries cost as much as decent used cars and are worse fire hazards than gas cars. Never mind that they're not green at all and that the "blood batteries" come from child labor. Yeah...let's use a different comparable, lol.

This is a valuable video as it introduces WP starters to the power of a page builder. It undoubtedly will give people greater opportunity to tailer pages and I am sure that blocked themes will be more popular soon.
It certainly is not a replacement for a professional, conversion based platforms like Thrive Themes, which we use, as this offers so much more functionality than block based editing.
To answer your questions, it will not replace professional page builders, but most likely incentivize developers to improve their offerings. It will introduce novices to the page building concept and potentially increase market opportunities for developers to improve existing page building platforms.
With AI becoming widely available, it is just a matter of time for intelligent page theme builders to enter the market. Eventually, WP will catch up on this as well, but it will take a few years if history is an indication.

Thanks Adam. Any word when Spectra Pro builder and theme are going to be available? Also, if someone is already using the Astra Pro theme, will there be an automatic migration option to transition to Spectra One? I hope they come out with some type of Elementor to Spectra migration tool or at least some type of elementor to Spectra pre-migration audit tool which would highlight everything that needs to be updated to get to a block based builder and theme. None of us wants to think about having to completely rebuild a site. Thanks for all the videos and products.
This is great. WP's block theme is the same as Elementor's container I think. Sure I will try this. Elementor is great but sometimes too many features to learn and use.
Hey Adam. Thanks for the video. How will this affect Astra Pro? (btw, the edits you make during the video seem very quickly implemented. When I'm using Elementor or Divi they aren't nearly as fast.)

Will Spectra theme or Spectra builder support empty divs, classes and pseudo classes, conditional logic, a repeater/query builder, flexbox and css grid, custom units, custom breakpoints etc. ?
I will be using this, I like testing new stuff anyways.
This is great and all but how well will this keep up with woocommerce stores? Will it leave the styling to be horrendous and skeleton like or will it actually display nicely and modern like with spectra and cartflows integration for example?
Thanks for this video. I just started using it this week and was starting to get a little frustrated because I wasn't sure how some of it worked or where some things had gone to. The menu was especially confusing at first. Of course I could have read the documentation, but who really does that?
The ability to permanently show the Outline while typing is going to make writing larger blog posts a lot easier

It certainly keeps improving. Tried taking a block theme for a spin in 6.1.1. As a Beaver Builder user, I wasn't impressed. I know it takes time to learn new things, but I don't find the WP settings to be intuitive. Too many unexpected results when changing settings. I also think folks are going to be frustrated by what features are core and what features are theme-based. The interface doesn't make it clear. I would love to get closer to the metal and use block themes, especially for the performance improvements I've been hearing about, but it's just not there yet.
As a UI designer going from figma to wordpress will be a dream.
Will have to compare this to Elementor and see.
