- Replacement of the valve cover gasket and spark plugs on a 2001 Toyota Rav4 2.0L.
ATTENTION: The valve cover bolt torque is listed wrong in the video (though I did go by Prodemand/Mitchell). according to Toyota, valve caver bolt torque specs should be 97in-lbs.

I am a self taught mechanic of over 30 years in the field. Helping people save money and stay safe on the road is what I am here for. If I can pass that along in my videos, that would make me feel even more accomplished. I am rather old school and do not really do things by the book, for this reason, I do not claim to make "Instructional" videos. My videos are for entertainment purposes only. Please use safety and knowledge when doing your own repairs. ~ Ben - MegaMiles

Very clear and informative video!!!
Thank you!
I like your honesty in your videos. Shows your come from.
Thank you :)
Great video and thank you. Are the valve cover bolts all the same size or do they need to be sorted when you remove them?
@benjaminperley5272 these are all the same.
Thank you very much! Helped a lot
Thank you!!
Hello. The first hose you removed that was attached to the air box, where does it connect to? Mine does not have that, the hole in the airbox is covered with a cap.
I cant post a picture on here. That hose goes to a metal tube thats right below the mass air flow sensor.
@@MegaMilesBen got it. my rav4 is the asia variant and the vacuum pipe diagram is different. I'm guessing it might have to do with cruise control which US variants have.
Great video
Thank you!
Just one thing..Great video but i would have added some sealer on the gasket
This one doesnt require any. Theres no breaks in the mating surface for timing cover or anything.
Unneeded and excessive use of gasket maker can actually cause leaks.
I have the same rav4 2001. But my cruise control stopped engaging it turns on dashboard but doesn’t engage.
Any suggestions?
Thanks.
👌
5 ft lbs? Should be at least 17 ft lbs that thing was leaking again within a month and if you say no I know you're lying
You dont have to come off so rude 🤷♂️
All my listed torque values come from ProDemand/Mitchell and is the program probably 70-80% of all mechanics use.
However, because of your rather rude comment, I did just get off the phone with Toyota. Toyota states 97in-lbs or 8.08ft-lbs.
I havent had any issues at all with the install or leakage with this one. Its been back for other work a couple times.
