Very well done Jim, loved this great documentry, I recall Smoky Joe in Sidcup when I was a child visiting grandparents, he lit a fire on a very wide pavement down by Sidcup station, the "Engine House" at the bottom of Star Lane I remember too with its engraved stone stating its purpose, now gone as we know. Mr Gorringe lived in quite a large house at the bottom of Hearns rise and I can recall him with his high starched collar with the old style of no lapels and a black tie when I lived at Orchard Place. Amazing facts and pics, thank you so much.
Fantastic I used to go to school, Crofton petts wood, Chelsfield charterhouse. Lived in Woodhurst avenue Petts wood. Lived also in Footscray. Thank you so much for a Truly wonderful presentation.
This was so interesting, thank you , I was born on poverest estate in the late 70s and cray has changed a lot to me so seeing through your eyes was truly eye opening .

My old friend went to school in Sidcup- her Mother used to mention a man called 'Smoky Joe' always cycled on tyreless bike...
My nan auntie cousins, lived in St Mary's Cray.when my nan passed away my dad lived there for a few years.
There is an overhead wire cash handling system like that at Stanger's on display in the Great Western Society's shop at Didcot.
My distant relatives had that shop "STANGERS", what year was the picture taken? I am Michael Stanger by the way.
Does anyone remember when the tower blocks in St Mary Cray were painted cream, they were always grey before that ? They were demolished in 2012
