@@craykent4493 Thank you
Here, here wish parents and. Aunts and Uncles still around to enjoy, the Collins family ,ex. Sidney Cottages.
What a wonderful vignette of the not-so-distant past! Our old Green Street Green/Orpington (and England) has vanished; Thatcher and unrestricted immigration saw to that. Thanks for posting.
I remember this place so well, great people, great time and great fun. thank you for sharing.
Thank you for lovely pics of Orpington My friends lived there for some years- use to visit them😊
My nan auntie cousins, lived in St Mary's Cray.when my nan passed away my dad lived there for a few years.
I grew up in St Paul's Cray estate. It was all such a long time ago. Everybody I knew from that time is dead now, I'm the only one left. Did it ever really happen - or was it just a dream?
Brought up in the Crays during the 1950's/60's. We didn't have much but as a kid I thoroughly enjoyed myself. I still remember the sense of camaraderie and troubles shared with neighbours. Went back for a visit recently and couldn't believe it; a traffic nightmare and swarthy foreign types everywhere. What on earth happened to our world?
5 million spent on Footscray bus garage what a waste
this is totally cray
My friends school was in St Pauls Cray..very pleasent area not far from Orpington
What a place st mary cray once was
Yes indeed. Sadly that St Mary Cray, and that England, vanished long ago.
My old friend went to school in Sidcup- her Mother used to mention a man called 'Smoky Joe' always cycled on tyreless bike...
Then there was Girls secondary school in Grays farm rd St Pauls Cray ..My friends went there..very posh RC..
Crittalls corner use to have Rank labs just behind it..
That corner shop in station rd Sidcup used to be Boutique about 1970..I went with friend she brought a lovely jacket there.
I use to catch a bus from Sidcup to Shepherds Green to see a school friend think 229.
Use to visit my friends in Foots cray meadows around Sidcup..
Brilliant, loads of research here obviously and great result.
My distant relatives had that shop "STANGERS", what year was the picture taken? I am Michael Stanger by the way.
Thank you Sir. Excellent video.
Fabulous to see the photo of Doug Holland farrier's at 10:14, often spoke to dear old Jim who worked with or for Doug, and watched as Jim shoed horses in clouds of browny ginger smoke from the horses hooves. Great days, all now gone sadly. Thanks so very much for these!
Wonder how much of this will be built on in the not too distant future, same as has happened with so very many beautiful places in our country!
Love these, so very many of these fabulous old buildings obliterated and gone for ever except captured in these wonderful old photographs!
Thanks for these, a great set of pics of a lot of people's past, amazing memories and so many wonderful scenes!
Thanks so very much for these great scenes, amazing changes and not always for the better, what a great way of life it must have been all those years ago.
Fabulous pics of some great scenes, and when we think what it is all like now, progress, possibly but maybe not when we see some of the very old building all gone and for what, characterless repetition.
Fabulous pictures, great to see these and what a difference from what we have today!
Loved watching this. Brought back so many memories. Sad to see its demise as it was such a lovely village. On a recent visit it was very sad to see that.
Can I ask the locations of these?
Does anyone remember when the tower blocks in St Mary Cray were painted cream, they were always grey before that ? They were demolished in 2012
Great pictures, many I have never seen before, I sent this to my sister as she still lives in the area. One thing that bothers me, we moved from central London to this beautiful area and completely destroyed its identity.
Great video
There is an overhead wire cash handling system like that at Stanger's on display in the Great Western Society's shop at Didcot.
With 2023 prices you done my whole weeks money that night
What a great selection of pics! I spent my childhood in this area. It seemed like most of the time was on the buses going to and from schools; the 467,51, 228, 21 buses. So many of these old buildings bring back memories. Wish I had a pound for every hour I spent waiting for buses at the bus garage in Footscray....... Thanks so much for doing this.
Love to know how many of these old buildings, houses and farms still exist. Great job in compiling these photos and making them into this video. I love this sort of thing.
Your very first pisture is where I was born. It was previously a smallpox isolation hospital. I've never seen a photo of it before - thank you.
How very interesting thank you very much,I really enjoyed the presentation and memory lane.
Such a shame people were priced out of these pubs i remember them all apart from that really old one.
many thanks I born in Farnborough in 1945, I know many of the place shown in your photos,
❤❤❤great pictures from the past ❤❤❤.
Came for the photos, stayed for the music. Thanks. This took me right back.
Brilliant, I've lived in Sidcup half my life and can identify the location in nearly every photo, but have never seen any of these. Good Music Too. Thanks
We have been and walked around this , quite facinating bit of local history concerning the Scadbury manor that once stood here , the gated entrance to the estate is on the A20.
Absolutely loved watching this, my childhood in the 70s was all over the whole area. Shows how it's changed from an area in Kent to the London suburbs.
Brilliant moved to Sidcup 1955 left 1974 loved it there
My memories, although sparse now, stretch back to at least 1943, when my brother was born. We lived in St.PaulsCray and walked to the shops in St.Paul, St.Mary and FootsCray. We also took the 51 bus to Sidcup or Orpington. I remember been taken to see Robin Hood and Bambi at the Commadore. Vague memories that things hadn't changed much from when those films and photos were taken.
Thank you for that! So memories re kindled! From Gray's Farm onwards to Sidcup. My early life!
