Dance Dance Revolution Mario Mix (Gamecube) Playthrough - NintendoComplete

- A playthrough of Nintendo's 2005 rhythm-dance game for the Nintendo Gamecube, Dance Dance Revolution Mario Mix.
It is also known as Dancing Stage Mario Mix in Europe, and Dance Dance Revolution with Mario in Japan.
This video shows a full playthrough of the Story mode on the normal difficulty level.
For anyone that is (or was) a fan of the arcade smash-hit music game series, this is an awesome combination. It takes the overworld and story scenes from the later Mario games to create a structure for DDR gameplay in the Mushroom Kingdom. It runs using a modified version of the engine that Mario Party 6 was built on, and you get the same excellent quality cutscenes and graphics as that game featured. So, it's a Konami-developed game running on an engine built for Hudson-developed games and it's published by Nintendo. Confused? Don't worry - it's Mario and it's DDR, and it's an amazing combination. A lot of effort in particular was put into the animation, and all of the Mushroom Kingdom denizens dance extremely smoothly and surprisingly not all like tools. Mario's gut doesn't seem to get in the way too much!
The game is broken up across five worlds, and has Mario (or Luigi) and Toad in search of a set of keys. The actual plot itself is about the same level of substance as the typical non-RPG Mario title, but the dialogue really shines. There are some absolutely hysterical exchanges between Toad and the bad guys, including Bowser, Wario, and Waluigi - more than once the absurd writing had me laughing out loud.
The gameplay is pretty typical of any DDR game, but it does throw in a couple of twists. There are item shops to buy things that can alter the course of battle, and in the boss fights there is usually a mechanic introduced to attack with, like stomping a squid's tentacles, or deflecting Potobos and Bullet Bills. There's even a jump to the top of the flagpole mini game!
And finally, there's the music. The great majority of the tunes are heavily remixed themes from various Mario titles, and the remainder are classical tunes that fit in pretty well alongside the rest.
DDR Mario Mix is a complete novelty and a helluva neat twist for both series of games. If you like DDR or Mario, do yourself a favor and check it out!
Just be prepared, hardcore DDR fans - this is insanely easy compared to typical DDR games. Even on the highest difficulty levels (unlocked after successive playthroughs) the songs rarely go above what would be a 5 or 6 star difficulty rating in the mainline DDR games. Gotta keep it kid friendly, I guess, though I suppose it could also be something to do with the deemphasizing of euro-dance in the track list. It's still a lot of fun, but don't expect to break much of a sweat if Afronova on Maniac is your jam.

I couldn’t stop laughing at mario’s dorky dancing. I want this game on switch tbh
Same lmao
@@amyo 12:20 Is That From Jet Set Radio???
We can recreate this in mario maker 2 possibly
Tbh I rather see DDR A3 (latest DDR arcade game) on Switch rather than this. Although it would likely be based on the PC port, which is DDR Grand Prix. Although if that happens I can see Konami doing what they're currently doing on the PC ports of Bemani games, which is have a majority of songs being subscription based (the latest Taiko no Tatsujin game on Switch does this), along with needing an eAmusement pass for certain online events
@@superk1660 That’s gotta be, I get a feeling that the sound there is a sample, one that both this game and Jet Set Radio ended up using. That happened with Everybody Jump Around as well, Jet Set Radio and Persona 3 used the same sample in that song
The music in this game was way better than it had any right to be
I love the thought of mario aggressively breakdancing to get out of a massive hole in the ground
This was my first Mario game I ever played. I'll never forget it.
Wha--, HOW CAN THIS BE THE FIRST?! i feel pity for you cause even mario kart is better lol
Wow not mario bros, mario kart, mario party, mario sports, mario basketball but mario dance off friday nught funking 🤣
Super mario 64 too
Your first was the most underrated
I never had a chance to play it, but I sure wanted to
That moment when Waluigi is a key villain in a Mario game. :o
He was already on mario party 3
You have all the reason
The moment when you realize this comment is a pun on the game. (Waluigi happened to steal a KEY)
@@_thedarkmatter_ Finally someone got it xD
Only for him to be pushed aside again at the last minute.
For Bowser
What an amazing combination. I love these remixes of the classic Mario songs, and nothing beats Wario telling you that he's concocting something that he hails as "an exploration of greed, stench, and stubby legs through interpretive dance." Great stuff!

This game seems great.

I’m glad I’m not the only one.
YES, it's so true

3:47 Yeah toad, you’re right! Maybe if we dance instead of jumping or even walking over the water, something “magical” will happen!
Anthony Dale Jr. Pretty “magical”!
if Waluigi ever end up in smash, some of his moves better be either taunts or victory poses
DDR Mario Mix is very easy to get into and a lot of fun. It is currently part of my exercise routine. Recommended for everyone that thinks DDR is hard and want something less challenging.
Hardest levels are still pretty hard though, so I guess the wizards can still have some fun with it.
This whole game is a dank meme.
😅😅😅
A good one
And I love it hahaha
I don’t care what you’re gonna say,@@cyrusgameplays3783 but that Bowser was Mario’s antagonizing arch-nemesis, and Clayton’s antagonizing rival!

Fun Facts that some of you might know: They used the same models and animation from Mario Party 4, 5, 6 and 7 (Plus, Hudson didn't developed this game)
Technically, they did as Konami and Hudson by this time were merged. The game itself was created by the bemani team but the assets are most likely 100% the Hudson side.
IS From *Mario Party 7*
@@haroldbalczac6431 Oh...
So that's why this game feels like a side mode from MP6
Wow yeah I can def see that with waluigi
I’ve had this game for almost 15 years and I’ve never beaten it before. Glad to see how it ends.
According to a lot of reviews the game is very easy, so I am surprised someone owning it 15 years didn't beat it yet. I am probably the worst DDR gamer ever, so beating it might be impossible for my twisted legs. Still a ton of fun though :)
I miss the GCN days when Mario's world was allowed to have more of an experimental art style, before NSMB came along and standardized everything. Thankfully they've been avoiding that in recent years with games like MK8 and SMO, but the wacky GCN era art style will always be my favorite.
Same we also used to get original enemies and toads too before NSMB
NSMB DS is the best one in the NSMB series and is still a fantastic game because of the unique boss in each castle (apart from w1 and w8), but all the other NSMB games are pretty boring and have no personality or charm. I agree though. The Gamecube is also my favourite Nintendo console and this game is one of my favourite Gamecube games.
Well mario wonder is looking good
Mario Party 4 to 7 Thousand Year Door DDR Mix Double Dash Melee Toadstool Tour Power Tennis Superstar Baseball Super Strikers and Sunshine showed the wacky Mario artstyle
I watched an employee of what was my local GameCrazy play this, and it looked really fun.
dave4shmups game crazy 😭
Used to get NES games there 10 years ago for dirt cheap. This was around the time where ppl starred getting more into retro gaming, the prices for many of these games went so far up as a result.
I kinda miss GameCrazy. I bought a few of my games from there around 2007-2008.

1:09:36 - Always smiling. Still my personal favorite track in the game.
The same....
Same here.
Came back here to find the song I loved as a kid, that one and the one before it where you’re sledding down a mountain I distinctly remember really loving. Still enjoy them now.
Here because of the Jaiden Animation. I completely disagree with her shitting on this song.
0:00 looks similar to the Wii warning ⚠️ screen before it leads you to the main menu
ThomasLover120 that IS the wii warning screen
ThomasLover120 nvm goes directly to the game maybe the cut out that screen where all the games are.
Because they're plaing this on a Wii and not an original GameCube
Most GameCube games that came out around the second half of the console's lifespan had that warning included at the very beginning when you booted them up. That's presumably what led to the Wii console itself showing that warning when you turned it on - therefore, Wii games themselves didn't include it (not to be confused with the Wii Remote warnings). Fun fact, the Nintendo DS did that as well.
I know certain GameCube games that used peripherals such as the Dance Mat had that presumably because they involved more movement than other GameCube games. This game had it, Donkey Konga 2 and Donkey Konga 3 had it (but for some reason not Donkey Konga 1, which is strange as core gameplay mechanics are identical). But then Twilight Princess also had it for some strange reason.
I love how the river just grows way bigger than it actually is
10:08 that dance was cute
H.A.D squad kawai Mario dance
He look like he poop and fart
Hi hi hi hi hi

This game is ironically a masterpiece. I just love this game because like, what is this? But also because they actually make a rare instance of Waluigi being a bad guy
This needs to be on the switches virtual console
Whole B a Mario just dance will be amazing.
better yet Konami just adds the songs with revised charts into a possible Switch DDR A/DDR A20 port
Your joking right
DryBonesGamer2008 did you at least played this game?
And play it with the joycons
DDR Disney MIX and DDR Mario Mix Is literally the most greatest spinoffs and collaboration of DDR series ever.
Omg Waluigi actually had some importance in a game like actual importance as an enemy without Wario. Maybe if he was in smash his final could be dancing related
I actually think this is a good game I don't see why people hate on this a lot
i just discovered this thanks to siIvagunner...
Probably Because This Is Based Off A Game Called Dance Dance Revolution
Probably because of the difficulty (lack thereof, that is)
SmashBrawler101 its to easy imo maybe a harder hidden difficulty?
I had this game the lack of difficulty was horrible but then again Konami didn’t have anything to do with this one which was the problem
4:33 "WOO, COME ON" From Sonic 3
That's why Sega hate Nintendo
Didn't know Nintendoes what Sega does.
Seeing Mario and Bowser having a dance battle is the best thing I've seen all day.

Ok, but we just acknowledge the fact that Mario had a dance off with a dancing pirate Lakitu, all while fishing?

This game's enemy mechanics during the dancing segments. The way certain enemies have a unique mechanic governing when and where you need to tap.
_This game was part-Rift of the Necrodancer before Rift of the Necrodancer._
