I first heard this song when it was put together with clips and images from the 1987 PanMedia/Cinar "Wonderful Wizard of Oz" anime series on a Hebrew fan site ... that site is gone, the song was downloaded on my old computer hardrive (and I was even editing a better quality version), but hopefully I can still access that video with the right USB.
God, I love this song. Thinking of doing a cover. Could somebody please explain why she rolls her 'r' (like Spanish or Italian) while other speakers of Hebrew seem to pronounce their 'r' more at the back of the throat, like in French? Are both sounds typical of native speakers of Hebrew? Does it depend on the person's accent?
That was the official pronounication until the late 1970s, while the people spoke differently. Don't ask me why. Israel was a crazy place at the beginning. But if a singer didn't sing with a rolling 'r'', The radio and television (all public back then) wouldn't broadcast him or her.
I love the “Israeli” R pronunciation but if the song melody forces you to remain on the R, than it is difficult to maintain it with the Israeli R. If the melody does not forces you to dwell on the R, than you can pronounce the R with the Israeli accent. This is the reason. I speak Hebrew and R properly but when I sing I also roll my R.
I had to sing many songs for my Bat Mitzvah, and this was one of them. Thanks for posting this video!
Очень хорошая песня. За душу берет! Исполнение безупречное, хочется слушать и слушать...

I believe for singing, they prounounce their Rs more like Spanish.
That was the official pronounication until the late 1970s, while the people spoke differently. Don't ask me why. Israel was a crazy place at the beginning. But if a singer didn't sing with a rolling 'r'', The radio and television (all public back then) wouldn't broadcast him or her.
