I'm looking to build community around music production on Vancouver Island. But anyone can build community online in the music industry and the DIT Music Community is a great place to start.
If you work in the music industry come join us and let's make music happen.

Pro mixer here! Spot on... there is a lot of great information in this video. This industry being difficult to make a living in is a understatement lol! The music industry IS NOT the place to be if you want to get rich. Especially the post production side.
Thanks. I kinda went overboard with the click-bait title, but I think this type of thing is a useful resource and rather unique in the "social media" space.
Great introduction, and I will certainly check it out........!
Awesome. The community has grown by over 40 since the weekend. Guess my video is working.
Thanks for this info/video, John. I just created an account with DIT (which I'll explore a little more in depth). BTW - fellow Vancouver Islander too (Campbell River).
Awesome. If you're ever travelling through Duncan give me a shout.
Looking and sounding great in this video dad!
Thanks Bayd.
Very cool, John. Thanks for hipping me to this.
You're welcome. I really like the community vibe of the site and believe in what they are aiming to acheive.
Thank you for sharing this. Perfect timing since my situation is very similar to yours and I would like to assist my daughter and her friends with their music. I am also located in Canada so its nice to have resources which relate to us and our laws.
Glad it was helpful.
i might buy that book
Discord (Servers) have been by far the best/easiest way to communicate/link with other producers. Able to get on a zoom style call at any hour and collaborate has been amazing
Discord is great for communicating with those you are already connected to. But this is more about finding and curating new connections.
@@EdgetoneStudios Even for that its amazing! I can join random servers that already have a cultivated community of talented artists that I can learn from and most of all, just be friends with. It takes energy to create or become a part of a community but discord is definitely a way to make long and fruitful friendships. 3 of my friends i have learned so much from and i enjoy talking to i met from discord servers, it is truly a great place to learn from if you know how to go about it.
lol just got the DIT ONLINE
So much better than Spotify…
Haha. Yes. I use Tidal rather than Spotify.
How does one join?
ditcommunity.com
There should be a button to request to join.
Hmm i get a 502 bad gateway error when trying to load the website.
Then i tried again and my browser said the website is unsafe.
I love the idea/concept but not a great start
Yeah. That just started 15 minutes ago. Must be a server issue. I've reached out to one of the admins. Hopefully resolved soon.
Must be almost up because it just changed to Service Unavailable.
It's up and running again now.
Just joined under your link, i'm Nic from Australia. Cheers! @@EdgetoneStudios
Awesome. Looks like I might be doing some live video content with them soon, so I'll see you on there.
So, it cost $50.? That right?
It's a free online resource.
But it does cost your time and energy to actually engage with people and make connections
loli got a tascam 2524 console
Nice.
