For all the people that are commenting, the reason why the Cardinal is dressed in beautiful clothing is because he is a successor to the original apostles and that he has the spiritual authority of the apostles that has been passed down to him. The reason why the clothing is elaborate and heavy is to symbolize the weight and responsibility of having that authority as well as symbolizing the suffering of wearing that which is all for the glory of God.
Because he is one of the Princes of the Roman Catholic Church.

We had the changes forced on. We were told we had to obey the Pope and those who did not accept the changes were called disobedient and lacking in the spirit of Vatican 2. In some parishes the priest would preach against the traditionalist and told them to go to Mass somewhere else as they did not want troublemakers in the parish.
@@GratiamtuamSome Bishops are very hostile to the Tridentine Mass. We were lucky where I lived as the Bishop allowed a Mass every Sunday in the Tridentine Rite. This might have had something to do with the fact I lived in a retirement area and a number of them were generous supporters of church with some leaving property and money to the church. Offend these and they would lose out on this windfall.

Because it is The Lord Jesus Christ that is saying and Offering the Unbloody Holy Sacrifice of the Mass to His God the Father for the remission of our sins. So all citizens of Heaven are present. All the Holy guardian angels are busy going to and from the altar and people offering their petitions and prayers to the Most Holy Blessed Trinity. The Blessed Mother is present too as the Mediatrix of all graces among other things the same goes through in low Masses too. But the graces vary in different degree because He is a Prince of the Church a high position of authority.
How I pray I might be able to attend this Holy Mass or the Holy Father's Traditional Latin Mass of the Roman Rite.

I was a sacristan of an abbey in the days before Vatican II. I would have been dumbfounded had I been informed that a cardinal was coming to offer a pontifical High Mass at the throne. It is a long and intricate liturgy with a lot of people on the samtuary. The MC has to know where the position of each should be and has to guide them when necessary. Not many novus ordo Bishops would even consider trying to celebrate this rite of Holy Mass today.

Beautiful mass. Why did the church replace all this beauty and mystery and tradition with the awful bland and Protestant service that pretends to be mass today is difficult to understand. I stand with a foot in both camps because I am not against change but neither am I for creating a new religion which is what Pope's have been about since Vat II.
Reason God took the true worship away because most Catholics don't follow knowledge thats the problem. The Word Perpetual means can't be changed. Imposters and Apostates and Hirelings hyjacked Vatican11 and created a Counterfeit a Subsidiary.
False ecumsnism was the problem. The powers in Rome were desperate to show that they were willing to go a long way to accommodate the Protestant churches so that they could claim that the Council was the work of the Holy Spirit to unite with our separated brethren. The Orthodox Churches stood by and watched and there was no way they were going to have their ancient liturgy changed to make it more acceptable to a Protestant theology of their service of Holy communion. The much hoped for Union is yet to be realised and thousands of their own faithful have been scandalised, disedified and marginalized by what is being served up in their churches as the Holy Mass. Never in a million years will I accept that this novus ordo mish mass is an improvement on the form of Holy Mass as formulated by the Council of Trent and Pope St. Pius V encyclical Quo Primum. At the time of the Council of Trent this was considered as the work of the Holy Spirit and a canonizing of the rite of the Holy Mass for all times together with some exceptions for some other ancient rites of celebrating the Holy Mass. The Carthusian rite was one of them.

It has to be in all Churches like this. The old roman rite of the mass. The other rites of vatican 2 are invalid.
Definitely not invalid if celebrated in Latin, or with a authentic translation of the Mass of Paul VI. However as you said, the Traditional Latin Mass should be the exclusive Mass of the Roman Rite.

Easily understandable with a missal, and the remembrance that is the Mass is a Sacrifice, not a meal. The priest leads us in prayer “on the mountain of God”, offering the Sacrifice in the person of Christ. So much heresy is taught by modernists who seem to have taken the spirit of Paul VI (of happy memory) and run with it.
The prayers are to the Blessed Trinity, therefore it isn't even necessary for the lay person assisting at Mass to understand the prayers. The priest is offering the Holy Sacrafice on our behalf. St. Padre Pio said the best way to participate in the Holy Sacrafice is to unite our soul with the soul of Our Lady of Sorrows at the foot of the cross. I personally do like to pray the Mass with a combination of a hand missal and my own prayers but it isn't necessary.
Go to the Anglican Church if you want your Novus Ordo they invented that 400 years ago.
Sorry to say it's not from Vatican 11 PaulVI Mass was dumped then Heinz Varieties came in none approved by Rome. The Anglican Supper came in not approved by Rome either in 1987.
If it is not understandable then this is due to a lack of Catholic education and catechesis. Muslims have to commit to memory the Koran an Jews long texts from their Torah and other holy books. As a convert at age 16 in 1958I made it my business to learn and understand the liturgy and theology of the Holy Mass and commit most of the ordinary to memory, most of it in both Latin and English.
I am fortunate that in my old age though living in Southeast Asia I can still access the Holy Mass in the Tridentine rite daily from a website in Germany where they celebrate Holy Mass devoutly without racing through it.

Myself I much prefer the low Tridentine Latin Mass this to me has far to much movement around the altar. I can meditate in the low Tridentine Mass.
I feel much the same way. I feel that the low Mass is the Mass for the more contemplative spirit. I follow a Holy Mass daily online from Germany because it is offered devoutly and slowly and I can keep up with it thoughtfully. I don't feel like I am being raced through it like it is some routine that just had to be got through like pushing buttons and pulling levers in the right order.

But as Vietnamese, let me tell you this, the unacceptable secularization of the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, especially Novus Ordo, reflects our sin. The introduction of the person at Mass, whether it is the introduction or proclamation of the precious presence of a bishop or a priest, unintentionally, is more of a focus on man than on God. The noise of new secularly modernist music reflects the disturbance within people's hearts. They no longer listen to God, they refer to themselves, they hear themselves through the noisy sounds of humankind rather than being able to silently listen to the divine. Then the artificial lights of the cameras flash so brightly that the heavenly light could not be described in the Mass, so that by showing the poverty of the beatific vision, they could not see the sublime beauties through the eyes of faith, but rather they only see the mundane and mortal things.

This borders on idolatry, imho. The Mass is a wonderful gift that God gives His Church. This activity is barely the Mass. It is neither a gift nor beautiful. It's obscene. Thank God for Vatican II.
Actually, it's very much the Mass. It's a Pontifical Mass celebrated according to the rubrics of the 1962 Roman Missal aka. the Extraordinary Form, which was never abrogated after Vatican II.
This is how all Tridentine Masses are conducted whether its a Bishop or Cardinal. Cardinal Burke and 1 other Cardinal have the 18th Century Capes. I think their Beautiful.
