That first mic is a Shure SM7B - they're great! They've been used in broadcast radio forever. Rumor has it Michael Jackson recorded the Thriller album singing into one of those (well, the earlier non-B version). I really like using them on guitar cabs and for scream-y vocalists.
I may be a little more experienced (read older) than your dad, but what you have is a Dual turntable by United Audio. I bought one of their units back in early 1970 something. IMHO a truly fine machine. Sadly, I lost mine in a 1997 divorce. Enjoy yours.

Seen Metallica back in '87 "Master Of Puppets" Tour Philadelphia. Before they were superstars! Whole different show back then. Very Raw! Stage on the concrete floor. No chairs. A smoke machine and a couple strobe lights. Lots of hot chics! The good ole' days.
You need to get yourself a Gibson Les Paul. My first "professional" guitar was a 1991 Gibson SG Special in TV Yellow, which I bought new in 1991 and still own.
I seen Ride the Lightning, Master of Puppets, Monsters of Rock, And Justice For All(x4) during the 80s, when bands actually toured and played live, I again seen them for the Black Album tour in the early 90s(x3)! After that, they were no longer MY Metallica! Load was the goodbye for me and they then belonged to the next Generation. Every BIG band came thru Florida back in the 80s and living in Orlando, I would catch most every concert! I have a chest full of all my ticket stubs! I would catch Metallica first usually in Tampa, Orlando the next night, then over to Daytona and then up to Jacksonville following the tour bus the entire way! LOL THAT was a great time to be a Metal Head!! Not too many bands I HAVEN'T seen. Anthrax, Megadeth, Slayer, Danzig, Iron Maiden, Ozzy, Pantera, Faith No More, Death, Death Angel, Ramones, Marilyn Manson(before making it big) Dio, King's X, King Diamond, Motley Crue, Tesla, Venom, Primus, and on and on! LOL... and admittedly was drug many times to Hair Bands by my girlfriend. LOL many of those guys were pretty cool and you could catch them somewhere in Orlando hangin out at a bar or something! I've got MANY pics as well as stubs and concert shirts! Memorabilia I will NEVER get rid of!

those 1980s tv last longer than those lcd, led tv's today they can last for 20 years plus but those led-lcd last only 5-7 years. the good thing about those tv the NSA cant hack those tv. for my guitar i used jackson roads with emg 81 - 85, ibanez & yamaha all with emg 81 -85
