    This is great info! Heading Alcudia on Monday & planning on tackling Sa Colobra on Tuesday for first time. Thanks for the information as I’ve been a bit concerned about the count of climbing just to get there but you videos given me the confidence to try it 😊

      This makes me so happy! This is exactly why I want to share my videos and my experiences. You can do it and don’t let the decent get into your head. It feels like a long time descending but it’s not as far as it feels coming back up. Enjoy it!

      Any advice for Cap De Formenter lighthouse spin? Planning on doing it two days after SC 🤞

      It’s a much easier ride in terms of the amount of climbing you have to do. The first climb at the start is really nice and not too long. You then decent from that climb down the other side with some hair pins but coming back up them is ok. The gradients are not too steep. Then there is a lovely flatter section out. This sections is great for a wee recovery on the way back before climbing back up to the start. From the flatter section there are some wee climbs but very gradual. It’s a beautiful ride and you can take your time. Lots of lovely view points along the route if you need to have a rest if needed. Thanks for the feedback. That’s great to hear 😊

      Is the mirador Ed colomer view point worth stopping at? It looks amazing on TH-cam -

    12:00 I think this is the Col de Femenia descent, and yes the road quality is amazing compared to Scottish/UK roads! 😄

    Is your saddle too high? it looks like your stretching a bit? and your hips are rocking too much?

    • @jennycycles
      @jennycycles  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks Rob. I have had a bike fit and it feels good riding. I do have one leg that’s shorter than the other 😂 so maybe it that?! 🤣

      I also have my saddle too high, I'm aware that my hips rock but if I lower it even by 1 cm I feel like I can't put the power down...

      I think when I’m pushing up hill it looks more rocky. It’s something il keep in mind but I’m comfy at the moment.

    I kick myself over skipping doing Sa Calobra in 2010. I thought I wasn't fit enough so opted for an easy day. When I did do it in 2011 I was just getting over a broken collarbone (4 weeks on from coming off on black ice), so I couldn't give it my best. I haven't been back since, but I'm itching to fix that.

    How does Cap de Formentor compare?

    • @jennycycles
      @jennycycles  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Cap de Formentor is a beautiful ride. Personally I find it’s easier than Sa Calobra climb as it has some easier gradients and flat sections in between the hillier gradients. Cap de Formentor also is easier to get to. So you don’t have a few climbs to get down before you take on the climb like Sa Calobra does.
      In terms of views, the Cap is right alongside the ocean on one side. Looking down onto crystal blue waters. Sa Calobra starts at sea level (after the descent) and you climb up through the mountains and cliffs. Both are beautiful rides.

    Is it expensive getting to the island?

    • @jennycycles
      @jennycycles  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The flights are pretty reasonable. Adding a bike depends on the company you fly with but again it’s pretty decent! I would recommend going out of school holidays if you can as that will impact the price. If you can get half board with your place you stay you can safe some money and hassle. Saying that if your savy you can go self catering and save a few pennies too. Do some research and it pays off. It’s worth it! Great cycling.

    Nice bike. Is it yours or did you rent it? If so, where from and would you recommend them?

    • @jennycycles
      @jennycycles  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s mine I’m afraid. But there are a variety of places you can rent from that are very fair and great service. Procycles and Mallorca bike hire I’ve heard are good 😊

    • @jennycycles

      It is 10.1km long, 654 vertical meters with an average gradient of 6.5%. The steepest section is 12.9% it’s a great climb and very enjoyable. The average gradient makes it very doable and you can achieve it under an hour 👍is it one you are hoping to do?

      I should say that the above stats are for the Sa Calobra climb from the bottom up to the top. It does not include the cycle to get there.

    Its must feel good passing people on that climb as most are trying their best, not so good being passed😂

    • @jennycycles
      @jennycycles  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It does feel good but every time I pass I give a wee “keep going” or “not far now” as I have been that person getting passed when I started cycling. It’s great to see so much variation in ability on climbs. Kudos to those that it takes much longer to finish, they are cycling and pushing for longer than is and probably pushing harder!
