Solo ride | Bridges, Fords and horrible headwinds!
มุมมอง 43021 วันที่ผ่านมา
I braved it out on a very windy day to get some well needed fresh air and headspace. Unfortunately I do lose audio part way through but decided to upload the video with a commentary. The ride is so beautiful and the day turned out to be a lot nicer than expected. Just proves once more, you should just head out and see what the day brings you. Happy New Year everyone. I hope you had a great day ...

In today’s video I cycle solo to meet a friend for a beautiful December ride. It was unusually warm for this time of year but I wanted to take full advantage. It was a great ride with stunning sunrises, chasing down cyclists and a great catch up chat with my cycling bestie. Solo rides are always fun but cycling with others is the icing on the cake. #solofemale #socialride #cyclingscotland #cycl...

Last weekend we headed up to Craigelleachie with the bikes and trailer for what turned out to be one of the most beautiful family rides. The sun was shining, the sky was blue and the trees were the most amazing autumnal colours. I would highly recommend this route for anyone with families but also a fantastic solo adventure too. #cyclingscotland #cyclingvlog #thulechariot #biketrailer #autumnco...

I can’t tell you how great it felt to be back on the bike outdoors! I’ve been getting back on the turbo after giving birth and squeezing in sessions when I can. I created as well my first training plan with ChatGPT this year - quite basic (sweet spot + VO2 + endurance) but I never trained with a training plan before and at least it already gives me focus. Now in my 7th week - curious to see how i feel riding outside because here in BE the weather has been terrible as well!

      I e managed a few rides out doors and get outside for a long ride every Sunday. So it’s nice to have that real life feeling to compare how you’re feeling on the bike on the road. Good luck with your training too. It’s been fun so far.

    I'd say if the workout plan has enough of rest / low effort hours in it and at least some high-effort hours then any such plan should increase performance. And a plan might bring that needed motivation and consistency. Maybe track your idle heart rate in the morning to see if you're running into an overtraining situation. If the idle heart rate never goes down to normal or it struggles to go up during intervals then it's time to adapt the plan and rest more.

    • @jennycycles
      @jennycycles วันที่ผ่านมา

      You sound like you know your stuff! Thank you for the advice. My watch has a heart rate sensor so I can use that for sure. The build phase is going well but il soon be moving into the next phase (week5) so it will be interesting to see the difference in the workouts.

    • @318ishonk
      @318ishonk 15 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      @@jennycycles smart watch for HR is fine. Also precise enough is counting your heartbeats manually in a 15 second interval. 🙂 Make sure you put in enough extra carbs before and during those hard workouts. The last few intervals in a session are much easier if you fuel well enough. And with kids and too low glycogen storage you'd be at high risk of getting ill.

    Excellent video well done you. I, too, climbed the bealach na ba in October last year. The plan was to do the whole route as you are about experience, but the weather was atrocious. Having gone that far I decided to just do the climb. Parked the car at the top of the mountain and free wheeled down so I had no option but to ride back up. Started at 6am, had the whole road to myself with the exception of the red stags. The feeling of accomplishment, the scenery, even the driving rain made it oh so special. You're going to love it. By the way, if you've done the climb on zwift, it's nothing like that IRL. Good luck and keep up the great work. Your videos mean so much to so many😊

      I do have mudguards but I think one of the great things about gravel rides are going off road and getting muddy!! As for front suspension I think that depends on the type of terrain. Aberfoyle's popularity for gravel is partly down to it's proximity to Scotland's big population centres. The south of Scotland has extensive gravel riding, From Galloway in the. West, Mabie and Ae forests near Dumfries to the Borders in the east. And if you're not frightened of big wind turbines, the wind forms have great gravel access roads.

    • @jennycycles

    Thanks for showing the trailer out. I'm in limbo about what to get my son into. We have just come back from cycling around the Netherlands and had borrowed a Couger trailer /koga setup, but then lucky enough to have a child bike seat around Amsterdam too. My partner really wants to get an out n about running buggy but i would love to hear your thoughts on the Chariot cross doing running as well?

    • @jennycycles
      @jennycycles 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Sounds like a great trip away. The Netherlands is great for cycling and trailers like ours is so normal to see over there. We don’t actually use the chariot for running at the moment. You would have to purchase the jogging wheel and accessories separately but I think it would be pretty easy to run with. It’s very light considering its size. When we are away in Mallorca we plan to use it then. I have the Thule Urban glide 2 running pram and have had it since he was born. Moved from the bassinet to the stroller style when he was old enough (only started running when he could support himself). I have seen the Nipper out and about and it’s great for running on most terrains. The Thule Urban glide is limited for really rough stuff when running so I would go for a Nipper or the all terrain Thule. Sorry that’s not the help you were looking for. If there is anything I can help with or if you would like more info on either let me know.

      Good going!! It’s a beautiful but brutal climb. I think the heat made it really hard and there are a few steeper sections. Had you heard of it before?

      Yes I been to the alps twice before but never got around to doing it so made a point of doing it this time , we did croix de fer first so was especially brutal and was 1 deg with sleet on top. 😂 saying all that really enjoyed it , preferred the climb to the descent anyway 😂😂

      Sounds like you had a great time. It’s funny how as cyclists we love a punishing climb 😅 I’m hoping to get back over again.

      Ahhh yes!! We have done it. I loved it. When we stay in Alp D’Huez we always look over to it so I said we had to cycle it. The tunnels never had lights when we cycled it. Love Villard Notre Dame and the wee villages. Great wee roads, not a sole on them when we did it.

    Enjoyed the video even though I don’t like gravel riding much. I do go off road occasionally on my cyclocross bike but I really do think mountain bikes are more suited. Keep safe 🚴🏽‍♀️🚴‍♂️👍

      With the little one we won’t be doing too much gravel unless it’s very smooth (not until he is older anyway!) this track was beautiful and the views were amazing. The weather did help a lot 😅 Thanks for watching even if it’s not your preferred ride 😊

    This is great info! Heading Alcudia on Monday & planning on tackling Sa Colobra on Tuesday for first time. Thanks for the information as I’ve been a bit concerned about the count of climbing just to get there but you videos given me the confidence to try it 😊

      This makes me so happy! This is exactly why I want to share my videos and my experiences. You can do it and don’t let the decent get into your head. It feels like a long time descending but it’s not as far as it feels coming back up. Enjoy it!

      @@jennycycles keep up the videos… this is honestly the best one I’ve watched about it. Any advice for Cap De Formenter lighthouse spin? Planning on doing it two days after SC 🤞

    • @jennycycles
      @jennycycles 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It’s a much easier ride in terms of the amount of climbing you have to do. The first climb at the start is really nice and not too long. You then decent from that climb down the other side with some hair pins but coming back up them is ok. The gradients are not too steep. Then there is a lovely flatter section out. This sections is great for a wee recovery on the way back before climbing back up to the start. From the flatter section there are some wee climbs but very gradual. It’s a beautiful ride and you can take your time. Lots of lovely view points along the route if you need to have a rest if needed. Thanks for the feedback. That’s great to hear 😊
