Thank you so much for this! We had been looking at a nasty dirty shelf for years, and although we have a slightly different model, the instructions worked perfectly! When reassembling we decided to just not replace the glass clips so we can just lift out the glass without completely disassembling the whole unit, but we did save the clips in a labeled zip lock bag just in case.
Thank you for the help. Had I known this would be so difficult to clean I would have never purchased this type of refrigerator.
I wanted to share what I just learned from a Samsung repair tech. The removal of the glass is actually much easier than following the steps in this video as the removal of the entire unit is not necessary. While the Samsung repair tech was repairing the ice maker I asked him about the glass shelf. He told me that the two plastic clips in the back of the glass shelf are only there to hold the glass in place during shipping/delivery and can be removed as that's their only purpose. He removed them for me by just popping them off. Then I removed the produce bins and gently pressed up on the glass from the underneath in the back and was able to remove the glass easily by sliding it out of the clip that’s in the front. I cleaned it and the area around it and replaced it with ease. Super easy. I would suggest waiting until the glass has reached room temperature before washing it. I did not replace the plastic clips. Good luck.

@@yiayiagreek5790 That is good to know because one of my clips already broke while trying to get it off as instructed in this video. I also couldn't sqeeze the two clips on the underside to get it to pop out from the water filter mechanism.....so those broke as well. Lol. Got the glass and crevice underneath it cleaned so it's all good! I do appreciate this video, though. Been driving me nuts trying to figure out how to get this darn shelf off to clean it.

Thank you! I could not remove the shelf the way the video tells you to, so I took your advice and we just removed the clips. It was easy to take the glass out that way and looks fine. So glad you posted!
I'm so glad I saw your comment. I just popped the clips with a screwdriver and the glass was removed, cleaned, and put back in in 5 minutes. Lifesaver!
I love TH-cam and the people who share tips and tricks to make my life easier. The shelf in my fridge was gross. Now it's nice and clean. I popped off those troublesome clips at the back. I am going to put a piece of Press and Seal on this shelf. That should help keep crud from around the edge of the glass shelf.

Great video. Unfortunately, no matter how much pressure I put on the front clips, the shelf wouldn't come loose. Eventually, the right clip broke off. On the positive side, after I got the shelf out, got the glass out and cleaned it really well, I left the back two clips off so I can now remove the glass whenever I want/need to clean again. On the negative side: This is definitely a design flaw - one that (I found out) Samsung takes no responsibility for. We called the Samsung Customer Service and received everything except customer service. They sent manual pages (those pages missing from the manual I got with the fridge) that shows Mr Gizno's removal process. But when I told them that this process doesn't work and that I was afraid to put more pressure for fear of breaking off a tab, the CS rep said I need to try again. When I told him that the extra pressure had broken a tab, he said he was sorry and told me to hire a handyman. No amount of talking would move them. This is definitely the last Samsung appliance I ever buy.
Those clips are terrible and probably will break 80% or more of the time.
That was a great suggestion, Lee! I did the same thing by leaving the clips off when I put it back in. What kind of idiot designs something with a glass top that can only be removed from underneath by taking the whole thing apart? And don't get me started on those stupid tabs. So thanks, guys! Took me all morning and I should have come here first. 😁
I used needle nose pliers to squeeze in the tabs of the retaining clips. Came right off

You’re a life saver! 14 year old put a 2 liter bottle of Coke in the fridge, on its side, without tightening the cap. My wife and I struggled with this shelf for a good 5 minutes before we gave up and came here. Thanks!

Your video was a game changer for my wife and I. The Samsung manual was totally worthless! The hardest part was getting those front clips out, but with patience we were able to accomplish it. THANK YOU for this video. Dear God in heaven, I have never EVER had this much trouble cleaning any refrigerator as I have this one. I have crossed Samsung off my appliance list as well. No clips were broken and I was able to clean everything out but why did Samsung make it this hard and why not put this in the owners manual?

Thank you so much for making this! I am 63 and have rheumatoid arthritis. Pushing those clips in by hand was completely impossible...especially if you aren't 100% sure you are doing it right. Watching it done is a huge help. I was able to remove the shelf and get the glass out and cleaned...then put it back in without breaking it!

I have been trying to get that shelf out for 4 years! Thank you so much! Your refrigerator looks spotless. Mine was absolutely disgusting…..looked like a war happened in there. So many little grooves and spaces it’s nearly impossible to clean thoroughly. We need designers who create easy to clean products.

OMG! I had a nearly full jar of sun dried tomatoes in oil tip over and spill all over my Samsung. I had orange oil everywhere; in both crisper drawers, in cracks and crevices I didn't know needed to be cleaned! It was such a mess! I found Mr. Gizmo's tutorial and even though the model of fridge was not the same (mine is a 3-door French) the instructions worked like a charm. Thanks for saving me Mr. Gizmo!!

Once I get to clean it, I'm gonna try to put a clear plastic on the top of the glass.
Really excellent! Couldn't have done it without this. Thank you for the warnings about easily breaking the tiny clips holding everything in place. Your clear explanations and up-close steady camera shots showing exactly which parts to move and how to move them kept me from breaking my shelf! Many, many thanks!
Those stupid clips are only there to hold the glass in place for shipping. Learned that from a Samsung tech. Asked why they don’t tell you that before.

Just went through the whole process with my fridge following this video and I just want to say thank you!!! You’ve made the process so easy and do able. They only difficult part of it was trying to push in the clips because I was alone and all I had was 1 screwdriver so I had to get crafty. Thank you!!!!!!

Samsung's online service rep's couldn't give the clear understanding that your video did in removing the glass above the crisper bins. It was a pain getting those tabs to push in but I'm truly grateful that you posted this video.
Great video - thanks to all of the guys that take their time to make videos for us to show how to do things we would otherwise have to pay someone to do for us! It would be so easy to just lift the glass out of the groove as my not so technical refrigerator was before we bought this crazy technology that we have done without for over 60 years! 🤪🤪

This was a real help. I kept looking at the shelf figuring that has to be be a simple way - I have to be missing something - but after looking at Samsung web site I realized this was a real poorly designed item to remove a simple shelf which you have to beleive will be removed several time for cleaning. After watching this video, I was able to manage the project. Once removed the clips - I did not put back in, so the glass can easily now be removed for cleaning.. The squeezing of the clips to remove from the water filter housing device was absolutlety ridiculous as far as how much pressure you have to apply - but once you know that it will work - keep trying and it will come up. Would have been nice if you could apply pliers to that area - but does not seem to be fit for pliers to be used. Thanks again - appreciate the video. p.s I had tried to just push up the corner plugs from the bottom - but you could not get the right pressure to allow and was afraid I was going to break something s- reverted to removing the whole shelf as the video shows.

Hello! Could you make a video on how to clean the fruit and vegetable drawers? We can’t get into a crevice on the bottom towards the front, it looks like the drawers come apart but we’re afraid of breaking them!
I agree! I have no idea how anything even got in there, but both drawers have managed to collect debris.
The drawer design is also terrible for cleaning. Why? I also would not have bought this fridge if I knew about how hard it would be to clean.

You never know when it's 230 in the morning and your mind wishes you knew how to clean seemingly impossible sections of your fridge... and you go to TH-cam and right there in front of you is someone who took the time to make a clear video explaining exactly how to do it! So now it's 316am... and I have gotten yhe hamburger blood that dripped and dried in my fridge 2 weeks ago cleaned out and my fridge looks good as new! I so appreciate people taking the time to teach us things!

Your video instructions were clear and easy to follow.I went from frustration to "easy-peasy" thanks to this video! (I'm a 73 year old woman and was able to do this alone) The biggest mess I made was removing a full bottle of soy sauce and setting it on my granite and it tipped over.....oh Lord, dark liquid seeped into every crevice of my kitchen drawers, mats and floors!!!

Thanks for your help. I had success skipping step 1. If you're careful with the back end of a dinner knife you can pop the clips on the back glass without much issue at all. Saves you the effort of removing the whole rack.

Hey Mr. Gizmo. Thanks for your helpful instructions! Briefly, my neighbor rang my doorbell this morning explaining the bottom shelf in her Samsung needed cleaning but was stubborn as to its removal. Now I know why. To make a long story short, after struggling with a manual that was not at all clear, I found myself watching your video. Needless to say, it worked! One cautionary note, for future "DIYers" ...at least on this model, the back clips were absent. Instead, there were slots in the front corners for the glass to slide into the frame leaving the back of the glass panel more free to move. Caution should be taken in on removal or re-installation least it fall out of the frame and break. Once again, thanks!

Thank you so much Mr. Gizmo. You save our headaches and endeavors. It was my wife idea to buy the Samsung refrigerator. It’s look and spaciousness appealed to her, but from a universal use and friendly handle of the fridge. it deserves zero point. The engineer and designer have made the fridge in their own way and never though twice how possibly a regular person can manage those procedures properly? And users are accidentally going to ruin the fridge easily for sure.
OMG - TY TY TY nowhere in the owner’s manual does it explain how to address this. You are a life saver. I replaced the shelf WITHOUT the clips so future cleaning will be easy.

I found this video last year when I needed to clean my 11 month-old Samsung Refrigerator, and was at my wits' end after checking out the owner's manual, which - as you mention in the video doesn't even mention how to take this bottom shelf out. I tried to remember how to do it again this year (after a houseguest spilled lobster juice all over the bottom shelf😠), couldn't remember, then remembered I'd saved this video. Just watched it again and it all came back.
I owe you a huge debt of gratitude. I had a fridge at our previous home that required replacing when little plastic clips similar to the ones you show us how to avoid breaking in this video after I tried to strongarm the glass away from the plastic frame.

THANK YOU!!!!!! I had meat on that bottom shelf, and under the glass was coated in blood. I couldn't get it out, but I showed my hubby this video and he created a "shelf removal tool." He basically taped two small pieces of plastic (think lego type small) on a large vise grips. Then he used THOSE to push the tabs in! It was awesome. Thank you SO much!!!
