- I purchased this as a VHS probably 8 years back and imported it from VHS about 5 years ago. Finally getting around to uploading it.
It's a great video and yes if you haven't played a game with all SplatMaster or all Rapides this is everything you have been missing.
Bob Gurnsey confirmed this video is from 1989. Bob wrote me:
"Yes it was the early summer of 1989. Shortly after that Hot looking Splatmaster GTP car was racing at the MIAMI Grand Prix."

I still have mine from 1986.
I remember this, when it was just pure fun, no worries about others ramping up there air to hurt you or shoot faster, just fun and exciting with no fear of getting hurt. It was like grade school tag for adults. So much infusis now is put on how fast can I shoot, or how far can I shoot that little ball, back then it was just a good time, Long Live the PUMP GUNS.
You can only wash off a mech Tippmann in water now. Most markers would get reck with a little water today.

+jason arce I once asked Kee about the new JT splatmaster US-50 and you are not supposed to take that one apart, it is supposed to be ONLY washed off with water. I have opened one and the internal valve has a screw for adjustment, but I have returned that one because of fear it has ruined the integrity of the marker as they tell me not to open it. Quote "NO do not try to open it. Just run the whole thing under warm water then let it dry before you use it."

My old splatmaster just got some action a few days ago. I repurposed it as a coyote hazer. Had one coyote that has no fear of people keep on coming into the backyard to try to get some cats. Despite me chasing it off on a nightly basis, it would just keep on coming back. So, I dusted off the old splatmaster and took a single loaded shot towards the bastard not really trying to hit the guy anyways. One paint ball and a co2 cartridges emptied to make a bunch of noise later and the sneaky bastard high tailed it out of there. It turned out good being that it hasn't been back since and no one got hurt. The old paint marker now distinctly hangs on the wall in its original 1980s camo holster right nrext to my other prized relic from the 80s, my framed Warren Demartini guitar pick that I caught at an 80s Ratt concert. 🤘
No face protection? Damn! I couldn’t imagine taking a paintball to the mouth. LOL!

Real paintball at it's best. Goggles, CO2 cylinders everywhere, cigar tubes full of paintballs, no inflatable BS. All you needed was a group of friends and 10 acres or more to have fun all day. Still own a Splatmaster, Kingman Hammer pump, PMI Trracer pump converted with the Orr auto and sporting a 2003 Rap4 M16A2 simulator as well. Played since 1987 but getting harder to find these kind of fields anymore most went speedball crap.

Lol! First game of paintball I ever played , was in this wooded lot across the street from my house . It was 1987 or 88 , the splatmaster was the marker used , only there was a big problem with this first game of paintball . We only had one splatmaster , and I was the little bro , so pretty much I just ran around and got shot up . I did get to shoot at the stop sign a few times . First game wasn’t much fun . Around 1990 , this cat older siblings was friends with got a tippman pro am, anyways , this dude shot me with it about fifteen times from like four feet while I was taking a shower , the next day , I hit him in the head with a half full one gallon exterior paint can , knocked him slap the f--k out , even though he was a lot older and bigger than me , apparently getting smoke in the done with half full steel can of paint will send ya to the trauma unit . Anyways , years later I got real into paintball and stayed in it . If ever , I seen somebody bullying on a kid , a new player , well let’s just say they didn’t continue that course of action . Don’t get it wrong though , I wouldn’t ever have to verbally threaten them , it’s that primal instinct even a bully has , they feel you looking through them like they aren’t even there , and then they behave and quit it . Anyways thanks for the trip down memory lane .

I mean the Splatmaster debuted in 1984 so the original model is older than I am!

In the Catshack report interview linked above at 8:45-10 seconds Bob talks about trying to get racing fans interested in Paintball. Maybe they had this tape playing as they they offered racing fans a chance to shoot paintguns?
