I was sitting in that front crowd that day, and made 2 side bets for a total of $40 for Justin Wong for this set. The whole crowd was tense and it was hard to blink because you didn’t want to miss a second of what was going on! However, when Storm was KOd in that Game 5, saddened and accepting defeat, I pulled out the dough to pay off the 2 people I made the bets against. Then, at that very moment, when I saw Akuma do the Gou-shoryu super and hit Phoenix in that game 5, I screamed the loudest yell I’ve probably let out in over a decade! It was the craziest $40 i ever won in my life, and it was beautiful. I miss those days.
One of my favorite Evo matches of all time. I still watch this religiously to this day. Had you not dropped that storm Infinite against Flocker in 2013 you would’ve been a back to back Evo champ. Legend.
I love the candor in your commentary JWong. Sure other people would have talked themselves up when re-watching the match but you were very open about your mistakes and why they happened. Keep up the good work man. Good luck to you in your future endeavors.
I would say you NEED to be modest to get that good. If you refuse to own up to your mistakes just because you won the match, you won't learn as much as the player who tries to learn from all their games. It's admirable that Justin can be so honest with himself and his audience and IMO that is a big part of how he got so good at these games.
Great narration!! You should really start commentating fighting games like Tekken and Street Fighter! You definitely have the knowledge and you have the “voice” for commentary!!! Hope to see you commentate in the 2019/2020 Tekken 7 tour!
This is gold! Im new on this FGC stuff but when I started I stumbled into both your names. I consider you and Ryan the most intelligent players on the FGC, kind of geniuses!
i didnt think that was luck when i saw this evo . i was watching in my computer chair like "OH SNAP HOW DID HE PERFECTLY TIME THAT SUPER!!!!" but knowing the truth makes you more relatable cuz i've had my share of luck based clutch moments. nothing on any stage but still.
These videos are great. Keep doing them for different games. The explanation of the unique tech is also a nice touch so if you keep doing that it would be great. I never played Marvel but it was always hype to watch Top 8.
I like this tape thing watching fighting game tournaments is hype and I was like man i wonder what they are thinking when they are fighting their opponent
What a time to plink dash with so much on the line lol! Good stuff Justin, you know what you have to do now. Hopefully you're making it already, your break down against Chris G in the Grand Finals lol.
Out of all the videos on this Channel i feel this mini series is by far my favorite keep it up. Also i have a question maybe someone in the comments might know, there is an old match j wong had i could almost swear it was evo it was in the training room stage and he was able to snipe someone with a raging demon while storm covered him. i know this is little to go by i have searched through all Best of Justin Wong videos you can imagine and like a song that bothers you until you find out the title, this bothers me greatly. I hope anyone in the comments might know what match i am talking about. Ty for your time reading all this
Could you perhaps get the opponent you played against to talk with you during one of these match analysis videos? Maybe once at least. It could be interesting getting both perspectives of the fight.
Peppy from starfox called. Where’s the barrel roll !! Justin Wong man, nerves of steel. That xfactor akuma dp is almost up there with moment37. Pure respect
Watching this matches we appreciate more the likes of FilipinoChamp guys like him make the FGC more interesting idk if there’s someone like him now with that kind of flair and charisma
oh this match good moment man those rocks are so annoying but i say good thing you didn,t level 2 x factor storm even if kill phoenix you got dark phoenix deal with that not fun and at the end may be luck but it good call to me maybe ryan x factor by mistake or who knows it was crazy where is fchamp by way or did he reitred?.
Can you do a review on when you won the championship vs cris g when you celebrated, tripped, and feel on stage. What was your thought at that moment? 🎤
9:16 That’s such a chea- _oh shit I’m making a video I probably shouldn’t sound salty_ *that’s such a GOOD strategy*
Nah jwong def doesn't say cheap with a negative connotation. this man breathes cheap he loves it
10:09 he is lame lol
9:10 "That's such a chea-.. that's such a good strategy."
Haha..he really meant to say it was cheap but it would sound salty
cheap moves = good moves. whether its scummy or not if it wins tournaments its GOOD to do
synonymous in most cases

Awesome story
JW is such a humble person to edify his peers and understand his limitations. That's why you're a champion my guy. Live Long Wong.
This was just fantastic! Very insightful. A big YES for more UMVC3 analysis recaps 👊
insightfull = it was pure luck. i robbed the victory
One of my favorite Evo matches of all time. I still watch this religiously to this day. Had you not dropped that storm Infinite against Flocker in 2013 you would’ve been a back to back Evo champ. Legend.
I've never rooted for someone in the FGC as hard as i did for Justin when he won UMVC3 that year. Incredible fucking times man. Justin saved Marvel.
I love the candor in your commentary JWong. Sure other people would have talked themselves up when re-watching the match but you were very open about your mistakes and why they happened. Keep up the good work man. Good luck to you in your future endeavors.
The Time Dictator 100% agree with ☝🏼
He doesn't have to talk himself up. He is the best MvC2 player of all time.
I would say you NEED to be modest to get that good. Can't tell you how many times I watched this match.
still gets me all emotional tbh
Yes I have downloaded and watched ChrisG won EVO over 100 time and watching kaneblue river lose so much
Feeling so nostalgic! Please do more!
That last round was the epitome of “Fuck it, we ball”
Good shit, keep making these kinda videos
So you guys are like anime characters. Thinking about 10 different things at the same time in a span of 5 seconds.
Yeah. How do you get to that level im thirty and have been playjng fighting games since I was around six
This is my favorite video you've ever made. Love the insight and shared emotion
I was screaming when J got the Happy B-day! Hypest top 8.
Great narration!! You should really start commentating fighting games like Tekken and Street Fighter! You definitely have the knowledge and you have the “voice” for commentary!!! Hope to see you commentate in the 2019/2020 Tekken 7 tour!
One of the best fighting game video that I have ever saw! That was a great analysis! Hope that there will be more and more videos like this!
This is my favorite fg set of all time, Justin. Thx for the hype back at 2014 and for the video now.
Random request, but could you review your match with Chris G too?
Yaaas! Really want to hear about the decision to put Storm on point from the man himself!
Get Chris on the vid too so you can both discuss and shit talk
Yes please, more Marvel analysis please.
It's in the works ;)
@@Queue_SS thanks
This is gold! Im new on this FGC stuff but when I started I stumbled into both your names. I consider you and Ryan the most intelligent players on the FGC, kind of geniuses!
14:00 the fact that Filipino champ would still be trying to pull a legitimate strategy to win at 10 seconds is incredible.
amazing bro I just now started watching you this year and I wish ive come across you way before keep up the good work G
A glimpse into the past, and into the mind of the GOAT of marvel. Thank you, J Wong for this great public service.
I've rewatched this video's more times than jwong has one tournaments, please bring this series back
“I missed a button” and it shows fchamps disappointed face XD
Dope ass match man, never forget your reaction to winning it was priceless. Def buying a shirt! Loved the video!
i didnt think that was luck when i saw this evo . i was watching in my computer chair like "OH SNAP HOW DID HE PERFECTLY TIME THAT SUPER!!!!" but knowing the truth makes you more relatable cuz i've had my share of luck based clutch moments. nothing on any stage but still.
At 14:10, the zoom and the phase got me laughing so hard i had to pause the video. And Jwong, your my favorite mahvel player. #WongFactor
being an fchamp fan and a Jwong fan this match was so hard to swallow
This match should be in the FGC hall of fame. Fucking classic
I love the nostalgic feeling in this video. Fuuuuck man! I miss these days so much (The vaporwave/synthwave makes this video even better btw).
"Oh well, I lost...let me mash team super just in case" *goes to EVO GF*
Mahvel summed up in one sentence.
Man, 2013 and 2014 EVOs were so good
i had to look for that pop off in another video. i couldnt resist how you reacted lol
I've been really enjoying this video, I didn't realize it was 2 years old thought it was fresh x
Went crazy watching this run. Those were some good times in the fgc man
Really interesting commentary. I’d like to hear FChamp’s side of it, possibly the both of you talking about it together.
He’d probably just talk shit since it’s fchamp
These videos are great. Keep doing them for different games. The explanation of the unique tech is also a nice touch so if you keep doing that it would be great. I never played Marvel but it was always hype to watch Top 8.
I like this tape thing watching fighting game tournaments is hype and I was like man i wonder what they are thinking when they are fighting their opponent

Awesome match! Great video!
Brilliant analysis from the GOAT
I remember this match. I was indeed like wtf, that final second was decided in a single super.
Just subscribed. Hoping to see more videos like these!
These are awesome. Could you do one of your 5 game challenge vs John Choi (SFA2, ST, MvC2, 3s, CvS2)?

What a time to plink dash with so much on the line lol! Good stuff Justin, you know what you have to do now. Hopefully you're making it already, your break down against Chris G in the Grand Finals lol.
And yes more UMVC3 content, doesn't have to be break downs only! Please play a tournament or something, help keep this awesome game alive.
Please do more of these - super cool. Also, feel free to break down what’s happening even more.
Nice breakdown, thanks Justin!

Justin, just press back on your arrow key to go 5 seconds back in any TH-cam video instead of trying to click back 10-15 seconds everytime
Hey justin could you do review the tapes MVC2 comeback vs yipes
Could you perhaps get the opponent you played against to talk with you during one of these match analysis videos? Maybe once at least. It could be interesting getting both perspectives of the fight.
Peppy from starfox called. Where’s the barrel roll !! Justin Wong man, nerves of steel. That xfactor akuma dp is almost up there with moment37. Pure respect

Bro would you be willing to break down other epic evo or popular matches in other games too? Like Blaz or MK

Can you do a review on when you won the championship vs cris g when you celebrated, tripped, and feel on stage. What was your thought at that moment? 🎤
Being honest and giving credit to others. Listen up TH-cam, that's how it's done.
your best type of videos
is that Punks uncle on the commentary?
5:07 it looks like Justin is tickling FChamps nose with the cursor lol
