Those are utterly excellent… a far better idea than ugly crash bars

Dropped mine… no bloody protection. Shit happens… light scuff to the cylinder head on the bottom exactly where that protection sits. I can’t find the replacement black plastic anywhere online!

Nice job 👍👍 I was only just looking at those on the Touratech site. I'm leaning toward the Motea lower triple bar crash bars. As an fyi, the 'plate' in the BMW crash bar is actually high impact plastic. I do like the look of these covers though 😊

Thanks for this. Curious if you've had any experience with the aftermarket guards such as Machine Art Moto or Wunderlich on previous bikes and how you feel this protection compares to them? Albeit, I don't think they are available for the 1300 yet, but are certainly coming.

However, the cylinder protectors transfer the weight of the machine directly to the cylinders themselves in the event of a fall - which is not good. You avoid scratches but not damage to and in the cylinders. I would always use engine guards. Yes, they are not very elegant, they make the vehicle heavier and wider, but they protect what you should definitely protect.

    My 2 pence worth.
    Part No.
And I'd put lock tight on that exhaust nut.
And....😂 Will you be putting crash bars on when they are available? Be interesting if bars fit with these plates still on.
    Cheers.

Those things only protect the engine from little stones from the road…
They dont protect the engine or the bike from falling over.

Shame I'd like to send you a photograph of one that fell over two days ago. If you watch the video you'll see it's got a hard rubber backing , the bike sits quite neatly on this rubber backing, not damaging the cylinder head itself. And considering BMW don't have any crash bars available until the end of March this is the only option. And if you knew thin , those cylinder heads really are you'll be buying some as well if you had a GS that is !

Well they may protect in a situation where you loose your balance and drop it or slow very slow drop , but above that when you’re GS is sliding down the road with force they will ware through as quick as a wet paper bag and your cylinder guards will toast and potentially your cylinder underneath.
I get what you’re saying about unavailable BMW scaffolding at present and yes cylinder guards look much better but don’t be under any allusions that they will totally protect your heads like scaffolding would.
If you’re paranoid your going to drop it chances are you will, oh yes you have had a little incident on your to tall for you previous 1300 already soooooooo good luck 😂😂
