Excellent video - first of many hopefully. I own a 1972 rolex datejust in stainless steel with the jubilee bracelet - and it is a fantastic watch to own and wear - subtle yet very stylish.
great video.....I've had 6 Rolex's now and they've all been vintage Datejust 36mm my favorite watch and favorite brand. a classic.....I like how a 1970 Datejust and a 2017 Datejust look pretty much the same. they never go out of style
I have a 1969 Rolex Date 1505 that was given to me as wedding gift, I just celebrated my 50th. I never serviced it in all that time and it still keeps great time. it has a champagne dial with door stop hour indicators. I have a submariner with the serti dial and and sapphires and a 41mm Breitling Chronomat with MOP dial with diamonds. The date I still love. Good video, make more.......
Unable to comment on the 1601 siince I've never owned one however, I would be surprised if the "tick" was audible or "slow" on any rolex, unless of course it's a fake!
Im currently looking at getting the same modern watch, but i cant decide between jubilee and oyster, do you regret not getting it on a jubilee as its the more classic look? Theyboth look great for different reasons its a hard choice.
Have what appears to be a ladies ( 30mm) 18ct Oyster perpetual date just , champagne dial . Believe it's vintage , around 1960's . Could you tell me where to take it to get more information on it ? ( I wear it a lot and it keeps excellent time ) Two more 18ct rolexes from the same era , but ladies cocktail watches , one with diamonds . Not working , where can they be fixed and valued as they are not for sale ? Thank you for any advice you can give . Edit . The date just is genuine Rolex , my late mother worked for a Rolex retail.outlet in the ME , I have the receipts for the other two ..
my 1601's get more wrist time so versatile, becoming quite trendy with a younger generation prices on the up! and affordable unlike some other more expensive so called collectables.
Excellent review Bruce! Keep up the splendid work👍 Are you sure that's a Datejust? Coz it looks like an Oyster Perpetual to me. I could be wrong and please correct me if I am. Kudos!!!👏👏👏
I went for a neo-vintage Datejust Ref 16234 with white gold fluted bezel from 1999. Its a great compromise between a vintage and a new Rolex model. Vintage=Flimsy jubilee-Bracelet, old clasp Modern= Saphire cristal, 3135 movement, white gold indices
if you wear it with a oyster bracelet aftermarket ($40 on ebay) instead of the jubilee it will look a lil' bigger and heavy/substantial by the way I have the same wrist size
Funny you have that dial and the Roman numerals bewusst that’s my favorite combo of the dial as well .. but are you sure it’s enamel ? Cuz I think it’s just colored so nice that gives it the enamel look ... the enamel is not as shiny but more white .. like one can clearly see it’s not a coloring but material of a different structure. Would love to know from where you know it’s enamel ( I hope it is but I doubt at this price t would be ) great review buddy ! Helped me decide to 36 over the 41 which I was debating since 2 years lol
Good review. I think two common criticisms that might come from these watches are that the two tone vintage is an 'old man's' watch and the 36mm in steel with romans is kind of 'girly.' These aren't things that I myself believe, and I'm sure people who say such things don't own or appreciate haute horlogerie.
KingRichard thanks for the feedback. The steel Datejust gets a lot of positive comments from people I interact with. Haven’t heard anyone suggest it’s for girls.
Jubilee bracelet is the MOST COMFORTABLE bracelet anyone has ever made. The "stretch" makes it "even better" I believe. It may look weak and flimsy when the watch left on its own. But when you wear the watch with the bracelet properly sized to your wrist (i.e. not too loose), it remains as secure as a bracelt could possibly be and looking as beautiful as a bracelet could possibly be.

Thanks so much for the feedback. I just posted my second video about the GMT Master II. Cheers.
Congratulations on your first video. Keep them coming. :D

36mm for daydate and datejust is perfect.
GEORGE TEOW jes Date just 36mm is good day Date 40mm is Perfect
EFE Beats daydate 36 is perfect but I know what you mean, even I mostly wear 40mm and plus watches most of the time
but we all know 38mm is what we want
Excellent video, I own a 36mm Datejust is SS with a jubilee bracelet. I purchased this watch in 1990 and its my pride and joy.
Great video! I just picked up a 1601 and am absolutely in love with it.

"...A symbol of a time when perhaps we had more time to ourselves..." Very well said, more pertinent today than ever before....
Even more pertinent today than 4 years ago!
(I’ll be back in 4 years to repeat myself.)
Loved the video, Can't get enough of those Datejusts
Thank you for this wonderful video! I think 1601 has 1570, It's great movement!
Nice video Brucie. Looking at the 116200 myself...a really classic but relatively simple watch that you can wear with anything.
Unable to comment on the 1601 siince I've never owned one however, I would be surprised if the "tick" was audible or "slow" on any rolex, unless of course it's a fake!
Inept Society Pleased to hear you found an alternative that you are happy with.

Hisham Habib thanks for watching! Yes I’m sure it’s a Datejust. The Oyster Perpetual doesn’t have a date. Cheers.

That 1601 has a cal.1570 movement. Great vid
yes
Will the 36mm datejust look small on my 7.75” wrist?
Nathaniel Gregory in my opinion the 36 mm Datejust works for everyone. Remember it is an icon. It’s all about attitude and how you rock it.
if you wear it with a oyster bracelet aftermarket ($40 on ebay) instead of the jubilee it will look a lil' bigger and heavy/substantial by the way I have the same wrist size
Get over yourself bearman
@@Shlomo8561 what oyster bracelets fit a 1990 Rolex datejust? I want to replace my jubilee with a oyster.
Nice video I love the 1601 by the way!

Your friend's 1601 two-tone has alot of play in the bracelet... Is there basically anything you can do about that.. or?
Jubilee bracelet is the MOST COMFORTABLE bracelet anyone has ever made. The "stretch" makes it "even better" I believe. It may look weak and flimsy when the watch left on its own. But when you wear the watch with the bracelet properly sized to your wrist (i.e. not too loose), it remains as secure as a bracelt could possibly be and looking as beautiful as a bracelet could possibly be.
your voice and tone is quite suitable to be a you tuber IMHO .
Datejust is so versatile and classic...the “go-to” watch that truly stands the test of time in style and function (pardon the pun!)
Where’s the pun? Apologies, it must be too subtle for me.
love your 1601
Thanks!
I try to use your information
Try switching from stretching jubilee to nice leather strap. You'll like it.
@Weird Science if they are unhygienic, those watch strap manufacturers would be gone out of business already..
Nice collection
Cool.
Thanks so much for the feedback.
