There is something very therapeutic about unclogging a ditch full of water and seeing it run.
Vice grips: the tool of professional ranchers and farmers, one size fits most.
Thanks for allowing us into your farm last year and learn where and how you grow the beef we eat as well as all your farm duties..
pro tip of the week, to avoid having to dig with all the water ruining you nice ditch, dig from the destination to the water source, the ditch will be a lot nice and you won't have as much mud to deal with
That'd be tricky with water laying everywhere, I know what you are saying but to do it that way would need some cleverness.
Great job fixing the gate Cole
I think you did a great job considering how small the bucket was!
To keep the mud from sticking the inside of the bucket, spray it with Pam. Use the butter flavored, it works best. True story
Works on shovels too
@@kenlawhon-vf7btalso on the blades of your snow blower
My hubby used to race professional motocross & he would spray it on his bike to help with the mud.
Couple small chains welded to the inside of the mini hoe bucket, will keep the mud from sticking inside of it.
Yes Pam does work, I sprayed it on my satellite dish and it kept the snow from sticking.
Hope you and wife and DAD Mom had a great New Year Eve God Bless all Of You
Cole, you could use your welder to heat those bolts on the wall to try and free the nuts.
I figured the last wall video, vise grips are the worst things to use . They clamp the nut ti bolt. Great video
Happy New Years to everyone at Sonne Farms! Looking forward to seeing everyone in 2024 and hope the year is good for you.
Happy new year!
Great job running the mini excavator Cole
Pro tip for dealing stuck bolts/nuts/pins. Heat them up and the run a candle around the edges and threads. The wax sucks into the spaces as it cools down and then stuff usually comes right apart. Best trick I was ever taught.
Cole, maybe if you would put a cutting torch on your list for Santa it would mysteriously appear!! Happy New Year to all!!🎉🎉
Yep, I'm a child of the prairie. I enjoyed that rock kerplunk!!!
I had a moment when I was really proud of you undoing something really tight, normally that’s Brian’s job to get his big guns out but I soon got distracted by the camera angle of Cole almost squatting over said camera until I got a bump back to reality by being hit with some man tool you were using to undo the bolt 😂
Good job Cole! Hard to believe no snow and calving seasons around the corner.
Nice wall building and gate welding and trench digging !
Happy 2024 Sonnes 🎉
Good video Brian, Cole, and Ellie.
Happy New Year to all the Sonne Farms family 🎉
If you could divert the water for like a week in the summer, you should try that ditcher you guys used years ago in the field with the ditch running through it to level out your work here and maybe fling some of that excess soil away to stop it from washing back in with rains.
Happy New Year Sonne Farms May the year be wet enough to ease the drought but dry enough to work!
Cole's welding helmet has more patriotic stuff on it than entire U.S. Senate.
I really appreciate you showing all the day to day little projects that you do. My grandparents were farmers and herders back in the '30s and '40s. This gives me a better understanding of their lives.
The amount of equipment, tools, etc. is astounding.
Happy New Year Cole, Brian and all the Sonne Farms family!
Wow! When those pliers fell onto the camera, it about made me jump outta my skin! lol
Was watching news about freezing rain around your area, looks like North Dakota got walloped.Hopefully you got through it OK. Mother Nature is really messing with us this winter. Happy New Year!🎉
You’ve certainly gotten good use of the excavator so far. Wishing you both a safe and prosperous 24 from Oklahoma
Thanks for another great video Cole.
It was interesting.
The additional wall you put up for the ground up hay looks good there and does extend the holding space for the hay. Good job Brian and Cole.
See you stacked the remaining walls. Good idea.
You are getting pretty handy with your little ditch digger machine Cole. You did a good job extending that ditch to drain the water away.
About it I guess. Thanks for everything Sonne’s. Take care.
The Iowa farm boy. Steve.
It's been lots of fun for us to watch, maybe a little challenging for you guys, but I really appreciate all you gave us in 2023. I hope that you fellers have a good 2024, also hope the hay situation is a lot better this year for all of us. Good luck with all your farming ventures, I hope you have a good day and year. Thanks
I carry a short handled flat spade in the cab of my mini X,great for cleaning bucket and tracks ,also great for locating pipe or conduit BEFORE one more scoop gets to it !!
Hey cole 2 things why not install 2 sections of concrete wall and why not tile that water out in the slue so that the cows don't waddle though the mud i really appreciate your videos
Happy New Year Cole and entire Sonne family. Pro Tip Cole. If you want a flat bottom start where you want water to end up and work towards where it is. Then you get to enjoy the big water release. And I did really love the ice breakage
Great video cole. Wishing you and all your family all the best for the new year.
Cole, you're an excellent welder. You have a Mig welder, Plasma cutter and a portable generator welder!! Where's the acetylene torch, your life would be so much simpler.
Happy New Year to all the Sonne family. Critters and claves too.
1:33 Perhaps the most beautiful angle ever on Sonne Farms...straight gooch shot.
Thank you for the endless inspiration your videos are. 😊 Praying for the best year yet for Sonne Farms. ❤
Like a reverse, mechanical beaver! Great ditch work.
That’s what power washing is for. Good thing you have a new shovel. Thank you for sharing on New Years Day. 🐂
you had me @ water runs that small channel will be good to fill a small lake below when its dry & make trees plants wildlife grow cheers from Ozstraya mate! 🙃
And a Big happy new year to all hope all your farming goes extra well 2024
Having the camera attached to the lower arm was very mesmerizing. Enjoyed the mud noise too. I was surprised you didn’t need the bucket to move yourself along. Front end loader buckets come in handy for that. Especially when you don’t want to tell people you’re stuck.😂
A little spackle over that rebar will do ya!! Simple little chores lead to big time savings later.
Awesome video Cole. hope the farm does good this year
So glad to be back!!!! I love you guys!!!
Have you guys ever heard of a nut splitter? They work fairly well. I've used tap and die sets on things several times - theyre annoying but they work.
You can just cut the nut in half with an angle grinder, then clean up the threads ,no twisting the studs off
the nut splitter is a great idea, you can buy them at any plumbers supply, they use them to break the rusted nuts on toilet base, no break the toilet, they are inexpensive too, Also, do you have a neighbor with a tile plow? borrowone and run a 3-4 inch tile from your swamp out to the ditch, wrap the tile with fabric so the mud never plugs the tile, it will be there for the next generation, still draining!
Happy New Year, Sonne Farms...
Happy new year to my favorite farmer/rancher/internet stars.
Isn’t it great fun when we can play with the Tonka toys 😎
Thank you for the video.
Boys and their toys. Have a wonderful New Year 🎉
Great video Cole and Brian
Great video as always Cole
Happy New Year!!! God bless
Happy New Year!!
Love the extra effort after the plans were already made!
happy news year Sonne farms.

Happy new year to you all🍾
Great content as always
Great Job Cole & Brian... 🎉HAPPY NEW YEAR To You Both, Uncle Heff & Your Families...
GBY ALL with Peace, Good Health & Happiness throughout the New Year 2024 🙏❤️💙💖💙🐕...💙🤗✝️
Can't wait to see what Tiffany got instead of what you thought you ordered. If you are lucky it's a new shop tool!
I ENJOYED WATCHING THE VIDEO COLE AND BRIAN 😊
I was thinking about your concrete walls the other day. Would it be possible to use Uncle Jeff's drill and make a couple holes on each side of the supports, then run threaded rod through the holes, around the supports? I'd hate to see them fall over hurting someone, equipment, or cracking the wall itself. I grimace at the lack of threads on those old rusty, bent bolts. Lol
Good piddling today lol, Happy New Year to all the Sonnes
Happy New Year from Chas.,SC - Look forward to following y'all in 2024! Good Luck!
I love ur videos they are really cool I love farming stuff and I appreciate u guys a lot ❤
Happy New Year.
Happy New Year. Now ya all got the water flowing. May want to look into getting a 3' wide ditching bucket for the mini. Will make cleaning and grading out the dirt easier. Just a thought
Tip for using the excavator doing trenches. Swing the arm 90 deg from normal. You can drive along the side of the trench you are digging and not over the center of the trench. The arm will pivot to the side giving you a different angle for digging.
Have you ever thought of putting in tile or a culvert to run to the low spot
I like it when you can throw the chain at the gate and it drops in the catch. Quick & easy!
Cole, just a note to help...Next time digging start at the low end and dig up hill....That way you never working in water...and mud should not be sticking in bucket and that way you can see the bottom of ditch and see where there are little high places here and there and can fix before turning water into the new open ditch line...Again just to help...It's snowing here in NC...Real cold...Thanks and have a happy Chirstmas and New Years. Hen
Happy New Year to you all.Cole and Dad Brian thank you for sharing everything.God bless you all.
A couple quarter sized hole in the bottom of the bucket will allow it to break suction and the spoil will release much easier.
Happy new year 🎆🎊🎈
Enjoyed
Happy New Year from Valdez Alaska
A nice big pond would take up that water😊 enjoy your day!!
Hope you have a very Merry Christmas and a awesome New Year stay safe!!!!
Same to you
Might be a great time to get rid of those trees growing next to the buildings. Happy New Year.
Thanks 👍 and GOD BLESS
Great video!
I’m super ready to see what Tiffany’s present is😂😂😂😂
The trick to rusted bolts is to heat them RED HOT three times. Between times 1 & 2 and 2 & 3 pause, go to the house and eat a StroopwafeL while it cools down. The third time it will come off. We learned this trick over 40 years ago and the number of times that it works on the third time is amazing.
Happy new year Cole. What a great start with a tummy rub for Ellie. Is that water from a natural spring or is there a broken water line from another location? Wishing you and your family a blessed new year. Peace brother
Great work
Thank you so much 😀
First time you dug your ditch the right direction. If at all possible, you always want to go from down to upstream that way the water isn't chasing and filling as you go and you have a bit of a chance to see the bottom of your ditch as you dig it. Still doing well for learning how to run a hoe!!!
Was going to say the same.
Happy new year. Thanks. Maybe lots of ducks and geese
weld a new threaded rod on it and then paint it black , song of the day 🙂
Happy and healthy 2024!
we have no snow here along the coastal area of Maine either. really strange.. happy New Year
Cole - get that bucket cleaned out really good and grind and sand the inside till it's smooth as practicable. Then, paint it, as many coats as it takes to make it smooth. The dirt and much won't stick near as much. Works on loader buckets to!!!!
awsome video cole thumbs up and shared
Time to get creative with the bolts on the concrete panels may need to cut some bolt head off or use ready rod stick one end in a PC of pipe and weld it and do the other end o. What's sticking out of the concrete. When it's dry enough one could creat a drain well and put a pipe underground to move the water and keep the cattle out of it. Happy New Year Cole and Brian and the rest of your Family.
That rock trick was great 👍 😅
Cole try spraying down the bucket on the mini with something like cooking spray. It helps release the load......your load?? The dirt! Lmao. Works with snow as well!!
Happy New Years Sonne farm family! Can I request an early female new calf name for my beautiful sweet great granddaughter Harvi? I know she would be over the moon to know an adorable calf was named after her. Love you guys and your content.
