I’ve been in the artist alley niche of TH-cam for a while now, but I really think your business is super cool! At cons, prints usually are as you said the most popular products to be sold along with stickers, keychains and other smaller items. So candles, especially with your scents that are not as traditional, are a breath of fresh air! Might be a good idea to take stock of what candles sold best and keep extra for the next con you do! I really think your niche of products would do super well at cons because candles are so different and its rare to find candles that are nerdculture themed. I would even say it would be cool if you had candles that even more lean into shows/parts of nerdculture you really like, or if you’re into anime, more ghibli, sanrio, genshin, winx club etc., having candles in that scene are very hard to come by! (ex: luffy from one piece having an ocean breeze scent since he’s a pirate or sailor moon having a moonlight garden theme with a floral blend scent, stuff like that is awesome). If domestic travel is in the cards, Otakuthon in Montreal, Anime North + Fan Expo (and maybe Comicon) in Toronto, and Anirevo in Vancouver might also fit well with your business! Sorry if all of this comes off as unsolicited, I've just been in the artist alley rabbit hole and its kind of rare to find Canadians in this space, and I absolutely love what you're doing!

Now that you are basically full time. I hope you do more traveling and going to more conventions. If you go with another person going to the same con that can always save on costs. You also shouldn't feel too bad about getting into the expo when other didn't. That could have easily been you as well. It's just luck. Also I do hope you expand your product line. You are also right about being unique in the fact that when I do go to most conventions artist alley's they usually never have people who sell candles. That would make you stand out even at the bigger cons. Good luck

i also do candles my niche is asian/filipino inspired but also anime and gaming, i tend to do gaming/anime convention but also filipino events. if you know your market and follow where they are thats when its the best

Hi! This particular venue had free parking since it was held at a community centre. But this varies on the event. Overall, I had a good time! :)
