I think you also missed out 1 key trait/skill that deceptive ballhandlers should have: Shooting
Example: Defense wouldn't bite on Rondo's 3 point shot fakes.
wsxgfhccr Not necessarily. Wade has mastered the art of the pumpfake and got a lot of players in the air without being the best perimeter shooter
I believe thats actually because wade will actually shoot the ball while rondo who rarely shoots 3s, would be a lot easier to guard on the perimeter.
Of course you have to pumpfake from a range that you are actually able to shoot from. What's the point of pumpfaking, in Rondo's case, if your range is shorter than the free throw line?

Kawhi doesn't use different techniques. On defense he's a Scottie Pippen but stronger, much bigger hands and longer arms.

Deceptive Ball handling is indeed physically demanding! You need immense fine motor control because you are constantly going between hard and soft moves.
I see two key details: the offensive player can do a few things without intending to follow-through, just to see how the defender is tending/leaning and always make your moves the same way as your drives/shots, so the defender can't tell which is which.

Can you do a video on Tony Parker? I feel like alot of players are similar to him because he's not extremely athletic and no flashy moves. He just does a strong drive to the basket.
+1 on Parker. Underrated all the time. No flash, just good timing and speed. Speed kills. Some ppl today have no idea how fast he was in his prime.

would you say that pure point guards or pass-first point guards tend to be mostly deceptive ballhandlers?
because it seems that they use their eyes as a weapon the most out of all the ballhandlers that were listed, and are constantly scanning around to see which teammate's open (instead of either just eyeing their main defender or the rim)
Definitely helps. It's like how even though everyone knows about Rondo's fake behind the back move, defenders still bite on it because they know how easily that he can make a behind the back pass.

Could you do Attention to Detail: John Stockton? Stockton has perhaps the most minimalistic, efficient playing style I've ever seen, but could routinely beat defenders with crafty change of speeds, floaters, and of course, his unparalleled court vision and IQ.

Ball is Life Depends.... If the size difference is big enough, the other guy is fundamentally sound (skills, bball IQ, and mentality), and the other team knows how to exploit the mismatch, there's not too much a smaller defender can do to stop a post up. However, at lower levels or less organized play, one of those things is often missing and you can often neutralize (at least temporarily) a size mismatch by cheating to force a poor or weaker decision. Sometimes you can pick off a lazy entry pass by making a passing lane appear open while anticipating the steal, sometimes you can force the guy to a farther spot before the catch or take away his preferred side/move, and sometimes you can work with help defenders to double at the right time to force a bad shot or turnover. Basically, you're definitely at a disadvantage if you're smaller but there's a lot you can do to reduce it if you understand the relevant parts of the game make the right reads.
Ball is Life look at Chris Paul when he defends a bigger defender 1 he makes them take a tough shot because he's a very strong small guard with fast ass hands so if u make a slight mistake he takes it away from u r he will read the pass coming to the big man and just intercept the pass. Basically I say make them take a tough shot and if u can try to intercept the pass and don't be afraid to defend them either most big people will think they have an advantage over u and they will outplay themselves

Chris Guevarra Great offensive players NEVER react. They either initiate an action to get a reaction from the defense, or respond when defense takes a risk.
I always think of it like playing tag when we were kids. The person chasing you (defensive player) always is at a slight disadvantage because he has to react to what you do. You as the one running away (offensive player) gets to choose what you do to throw the defense off

Adrian Logan That's a great and insightful answer. i never thought of it like that but i can see how that's true... You are always at an adcantage if you are the one making the opponent respond, like chess or tag. Even with setup moves, you're trying to get your defender to react so you can respond with different options. Very helpful tip. Thanks man!

Attention to detail loose ballhandlers
At my school there are many loose ball handlers and so i want to know how to guard them
Well Im not attention to detail but I can help.
Loose ballhandlers really work off of breaking ankles. Theyre hard to gaurd because
1. They sell their moves really well
2. The mental aspect of getting your ankles broken freezes alot of defenders from trying.
To gaurd them you have to be on your toes, active with your hands, and never give up on the play.
Being on your toes prevents you from getting blown by, loose ballhandlers are more likely to get stolen from so you have higher chance of steals from active hands, never giving up on the play is more of a mental thing but no matter what, dont stop trying on defense, Id rather try hard and get crossed over maybe 1/10 times than not try and be a non factor on defense. And when you get crossed out and that kid tries to shame you for it, dont pay attention to it or get worried, just get focus on the next play.
Also understand that these guys thrive off of the one on one face up so dont let them have that, double team em, trap em, be aggressive, just never let them set you up or get into a flow.
Another technique that works well is pretending to bite on the cross over and then just running to where they cross the ball over.

Since their crossovers take longer to execute, when the are setting up with a bunch of wide crosses, reach right when the ball gets to one side completely. For example, they cross from left to right and use a hesitation, reach for the ball right before that hesitation so they are forced to retreat and there is a chance of the ball being stolen.
