    Really like your sugar shack. I'll be building one this summer and I dig the simplicity of yours. Looks great and very functional.

      Thank you. It's a building that we only use about 2-3 weeks a year so it was hard to spend a ton of money on it but it works pretty good. Thanks for watching

    Looks like a lot of fun, and a lot of work too. I know some other guys from Pennsylvania that make syrup, must be a lot of maple trees out there! One of those guys goes by Sugarmaker on the Allis board, great guy with lots of Orange stuff.

      Yeah lots of maples around here in western New York. It's a small world because we go to a few pulls with Sugarmaker and have had his syrup at the breakfast at the Saegertown pull in Pa

      There are a lot of sugar makers in PA. some pretty big one too. I’m running roughly 700 taps myself and adding more every year.

    Good job! Nice sugar shack and arch! I am jealous of all the trees you have in one flat area. Mine are all on hillsides it seems haha. I started doing syrup maybe 4 or 5 years ago on the farm. I only do about 30 taps or so but that makes plenty for my family and I. The kids love it! I made a gallon today and have a few more to go...
    What kind of arch /set up do you have? Brand, Dimensions etc? Seems to work pretty well.
    I made a homemade arch and it doesnt do bad.... i need to insulate it though. Does about 8.5 gph. But i know it could do better if i redesign it.

      Our arch is from CDL and it's 18x48. It's our 3rd year making syrup. We started with 50 taps. Now, I have jumped up to about 100 taps. We make 10-12 gallons. Just enough for us and then some to give away. It's fun and a ton of work all at the same time. But a great way to get out in the woods this time of year. Thanks for watching

    So was it syrup when you took it off? Or did you just take it off because you are done boiling for the night

    • @lilbentwrench
      @lilbentwrench  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It was really close to maple syrup. We finish it on the kitchen stove and then bottle it at the same time. Thanks for watching

    How much wood did you end up using for the two gallons of syrup?

    • @lilbentwrench
      @lilbentwrench  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      1/2 to 3/4 of a face cord I would say. We made 12 gallons this and burned about a full cord of wood. Thanks for watching

    Did you pour a pad for that shack and any idea what size it is? thx!

    • @lilbentwrench
      @lilbentwrench  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, we poured the pad with just bags and a mixer on the back of the tractor. It's 10 x12. Witch is big enough but a little bigger would be nice also. Was going to pour a pad out front but had a bunch of hard wood boards that we made like a deck for now. When they rot away, it will be a concrete pad next time. Thanks for watching

    kind of silly question I’m fairly new to this. Why do they call it an arch

    • @lilbentwrench
      @lilbentwrench  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That I really don't know. I will have to look that up also.
