Hey Charlotte, I will say this, Cooking Sap has come a long way from when I was a Kid in Southern Cayuga Co. NY, when they collected sap and just dumped it in a big vat and boiled it. None of this Reverse Osmosis or anything of the such, Just cookit till it got dark and can it. There were a few Farmers who collected sap around us and made Syrup and I don't know if there is any now that do it. Of course I have not lived in NY for over 45 years now so I am out of touch with things that go on there.
Enjoyed your video, Thanks for sharing.

Oh for sure, technology just innovates the hell out of everything (not saying its always positive either, lots of stuff aint broke) but I definitely have it easier gathering sap 🤣

HEY HEY , i'm still here , been dodgin 50-60-70 mile an hour winds ,and a tornado watch . 70 degrees this morning 35 degrees this afternoon . i'm not buyin in to the whole climate thing , it happened before it'll happen again . but it does seem the weather was a little more predictable a while back . and i too drilled holes in trees with a brace and pounded in those metal spies and hung metal buckets on coat hangers , cooked it out side then brought it into the kitchen to finish it off . we maybe got a gallon , life as a kid on a farm in upstate ny in the mid 70s ,,,,, i know i never push the button , but i love all the videos so thank you , and good luck with 2024 maple season !

Going to the movies is still better than watching it on the tv.

I’m so glad I found you this morning. My wife loves those maple candies and she usually has to wait until September when the Big E opens. I familiar where you are, I used to take I-88 on my way to work when I worked in Olean, NY.

I live right around the corner! Enjoy your vids. It's been a sketchy sap season for sure and I'm worried about my 🍎🍎orchard too...too warm too early😖 Plus my 🐝🐝s are all out looking for sugar and swarm my little sap shed😂
