I had no interest in learning to play an instrument until KISS got Eric Carr. I picked up a pair of sticks and wanted so much to be like him. When he died, I sobbed like a child. I definitely know how you feel, my friend. We lost so many amazingly gifted musicians waaaay too early. Randy Rhoads is my all-time favorite guitarist. Neil Peart, Joey Jordison, Lemmy, Cliff Burton, Jimmy "The Rev" Sullivan, Nick Menza, Stevie Ray Vaughn, of course Hanneman and Eric Carr....and plenty of others. I would love to assemble a band with that lot I just named.
RIP Jeff - what a pioneer in metal. Written some of the best riffs known to man. Angel of death Raining Blood Mandatory Suicide Dead Skin Mask South of Heaven
Jeff Hanneman is the reason why I love Slayer and other heavier bands, I identified myself as this guy. He's the quiet dude, the one that goes there to do his job and nothing more, what I mean is that he doesn't spend precious time talking bullshit or things like other famous artists do y'know?
Haters? Jeff Hanneman never had haters, he's universally loved. It's Kerry King who is a divisive figure in Slayer. Personally I admire them both as they are both pioneers.
Funny to hear how Kerry King was actually more advanced a player when they met and how he learned from him. I always thought it was the other way around.
indeed he learned alot from kerry and he turned him on to be faster when he started in the band however jeff wrote most masterpiece songs (angel of death, raining blood, south of heaven, death skin mask) ever written than kerry himself. just like kirk taught gary when he was in pre-bonded by blood, but gary wrote the best guitar ever shred/written without a need of wah wah
he said he had to learn quick, yeah he did, then became the best guitarist in the band even though Kerry had 5 years on him, I guess some are just more gifted.
I'm gona miss his low tone ,erie solos. Like the ending of Manditory Suicide .No one else can do that, and make you think you could possably die hearing it.
Another advantage to having a Kahler vs a Floyd-Rose bridge is you get a more even shift in pitch when you’re doing dive bombs or pull ups. The rotating cam provides a cleaner and expanded range whereas a Floyd’s shift drops off much quicker so the strings are either completely level or almost completely slacked on a dive bomb. They both have their pros and cons, and Kerry King says he uses a Kahler because it’s what he learned on and that’s the only real difference.
One of the legitimate LEGENDS of metal and the guitar world in general fucking brutal and melodic riffs like no other, him and Kerry were the perfect yin yang
Your damn right I love Gary but he's always just a tad behind I've seen slayer with Jeff ten times maybe more and seeing them with Gary you can hear the difference period
That was a ESP LTD JH 600 that looked like a les paul single cut out . My buddy has one. Didnt see it in the colection photo that the guy bought . They said 6 were sold , that one wasn't . Think it was a ESP LTD JH 600 black of course. The J H stood for Jeff Hennamen.
@Ian McCauley - yes , thats the les paul Darrin Conner was talking about. However LTD made a JH 600ec Eclips . It looks like a gibson, same body style . A friend of mine has one. I looked on the internet for a photo or concert where he is using it , I haven't found any proof yet.wtf. Anyway... where is that old les paul ?
So it’s ok to tremolo crazy like Slayer with a kahler and a neck through body guitar? I was always told that the separate neck-body would hold the tuning better. Anyone thoughts?
Now , I've seen your movie . Fuckin thanx for Jeff's rare interview . Anyway, sorry for his death . He was Slayer's front man . Slayer's most songs , written by him . " Angel of Death " " Raining Blood " " Postmortem " and more . ………At the time he is dead , Slayer is certainly done . Once more , wanna see him . Simply fuckin sorry !!
Trying to accomplish to be a good guitar player. I think he went past that. He even beat Kerry in being a riff master If there was a Mount Rushmore of Thrash Metal players. Jeff would be up there
RIP Jeff. You kept Slayer together. Forever a Legend.

I love the rare Jeff Hanneman ESP with SS sig runes and Totenkopf inlays, and the urban camo finish.
What I'd give to have one.

It's funny cause you never heard him talk till this interview
Because he rarely gives interviews

Yeah and Kahlers dont return to pitch
Neither do Floyd Rose's, that is why I play a hardtail
Yea they do your using the wrong strings probably Ernie ball use d addarios
Kahlers are prone to dirt, which is WHEN they don't return. Floyds are foolproof.
